Season 19 Song Suggestions

VintageVoice

Recommended Posts

The ones that come to mind would be:

Sid Kingsley- Anything from Elton John´s Honky Chateau album, particularly "Rocket Man" or "Salvation"

John Holiday- "Love is a Losing Game" (Amy Winehouse) Right in his jazz alley and he could very well make it his own.

Desz- " I Say a Little Prayer" (Aretha Franklin). I think it  would fit her like a glove.

Ian Flanigan- " Have a Little Faith in Me" (Joe Cocker version) " Perfect for his rasp.

Payge Turner- "The Joke" (Brandi Carslile)". That would be a moment for her.

Payge Turner - Gone (Lianne Las Havas) and Lost On You (LP)

Cami Clune - Cellophane (fka twigs) and Safe and Sound (Taylor Swift)

Julia Cooper - Anything by Marina and the Diamonds (Primadonna would be fun)

Desz - Clown (Emeli Sande)

James Pyle - Scars (James Bay)

Sid Kingsley - Skin (Rag n Bone Man)

Those were the ones that came to mind. Some of these are really out there but I think at the very least they are refreshing.

Here's some that came to mind for me:

  • Sid - anything Elton John (seconding the suggestion for Rocket Man, tbh - it's one almost everyone knows and it's squarely in his range/vocal pocket, plus I don't think it's been done on the show in a while, if ever)
  • Ryan Gallagher - You Raise Me Up (operatic enough he can handle it but a different artist than his blind, he's also worked as part of Josh Groban's backup choir so this could be a good full circle moment of sorts)
  • John Holiday - All I Ask (Adele's diva-but-jazzy enough he could crush this since it also has the vocal fireworks that seem up his alley)
  • Taryn - How Do I Live or Blown Away (Trisha Yearwood's a similar country vein to what Taryn's blind was, as is Carrie Underwood - so either of these could go pretty well - I tried to have one be a "softer" number and one be belt-filled)
  • Cami - Elastic Heart or River (the former has been done kind of a lot, but it's a similar vein to a previously suggested Sia song without being a repeat from last season's song choice, while the latter is a Joni Mitchell song she's covered before and I feel like Joni in general is pretty up her alley, tbh)
  • Payge - Ain't No Sunshine (yes, I know CammWess did this literally just last season, but Payge has covered it before and it was so good - something that taps into her lower register would be killer)

I'm picking songs that I think would work well, but also garner the highest amount of votes.

Taryn Papa - "Burning House" by Cam. "Little Toy Guns" Carrie Underwood. "Broken Halos" Chris Stapleton. A lot of Faith Hill songs would work too, but the list would be too long.

Cami Clune - "Yellow" by Coldplay.

Payge Turner - "Demons" Imagine Dragons

Cami Clune - Mad World by Tears for Fears, Maelyn Jarmon version. 😂

DeSz or Tamara Jade - Didn't We Almost Had It All by Whitney Houston, I love this song and I barely heard this song in a singing competition. I think either one of them can sing it.

Jim Ranger - Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones, I think Jim will kill it.

John Holliday - And I Am Telling You by JHud to unleash his inner diva within.😂

Sid Kingsley - Tiny Dancer by Elton John, this will suit him.

Now that teams are full, what songs would you like to see the artists tackle on the show? This includes battles, knockouts, and beyond.

Discuss them below.

What’sthe point in “suggesting” songs for rounds that have already been taped?

Not everyone reads the spoilers, so I wanted them to have room to speculate/guess songs and didn't want to clog up the front page of the forum by making different threads for pre-taped guesses vs. live round suggestions.

Even people who don’t read spoilers, understand that the songs have already been selected. Let’s not emulate TPTB and treat other posters like idiots.

i think the point is just to have fun, not to necessarily be correct 🙂

here are some suggestions:

julia - best part

desz - its so hard to say goodbye to yesterday?

kelsie - lovin' you (she would ANNIHILATE the whistle note, toneisha surprised us last season but she didn't kill it imo, she just did better than expected), chandelier would put her big voice to work and she could use her whistle as well if she wants

cami - all i want (i saw mad world suggseted above, i think thats a great idea too!), both elastic heart and river are also great ideas!

taryn - burning house

lauren - house of the rising sun? (i know a no-chair turner did a version of this that i think that lauren could prob do)

i liked all your suggestions, but these especially. i think cami would kill a slowed version of girls just want to have fun (like addison did in the battles) and desz's rich voice would be perfect on rise up

I don't think it was ever done on this show, but I would like to see Ryan G. singing "Perfect Day" by Lou Reed while playing the piano. Luciano Pavarotti sang once and I think it's right in his lane, if he play the cards right.
