VintageVoice Posted March 28, 2023 Share Posted March 28, 2023 Don’t mind me, just rolling up with the audacity to rank battles after completely skipping blinds rankings Battle Rounds: Episode 1 Tasha vs EJ - The Tracks of My Tears - 7.5 (Their voices worked well together and the last third of the song was excellent, but the song choice is holding me back from grading them higher) Jamar vs Mariah - Gravity - 6.5 (The song clearly catered more to Jamar; Mariah did fine but made a few weird vocal choices that I didn’t think worked. Also, this felt kinda sleepy) Gina vs Kala - Skinny Love - 9 (For once, my biases line up with IDF’s general artistic preferences. Still obsessed with Kala’s tone but Gina’s better enunciation swung this slightly in her favor, though this was by far the most even battle of the night for me) Cait vs Allie - It Must Have Been Love - 8.75 (As cliché as slowing down a song can be, this worked really well and both Cait and Allie did a good job. Personally, I thought Allie’s improvement was enough to warrant a steal, but alas. Also ranking this just below Kala & Gina as I felt C & A’s song didn’t fit them quite as well as K & G’s, which is none of their faults but still a factor) Walker vs Kason - Here Without You - 5.5 (Walker at least improved enough that I could understand more than every third word out of his mouth because he wasn’t as growl-heavy. Kason, on the other hand…the less I say, the better) Sorelle vs Manasseh - Someone like You - 8.5 (Manesseh’s more consistent vocals are enough for me to think she should’ve won, but both sides really stepped it up from their blinds - Sorelle’s harmonies in particular were very impressive.
