Young Sheldon

More fodder? Terrific, more work for all of us. Flops :* Anyway, bc apparently enough people watch The Big Bang Theory (for some god forsaken reason), this was unleashed upon us. As the prequel to TBBT, it follows 9 year old Sheldon Cooper, who is still living in Texas with his family and going to high school. The series has been going on for 3 seasons now (and with one more already being greenlit. Sad.) I don't really care to look that much more into it (thanks Wikipedia for always allowing me to do bare minimum), so if anyone wants to give it a better write up, be my guest.

Due to The Big Bang Theory's popularity - a show that is a tad bit overrated and I never understood its appeal - Chuck Lorre & CBS thought it was a good idea to produce a prequel; The prequel would later be entitled "Young Sheldon" where the main character is a young Sheldon Cooper. The show features Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Montana Jordan, Raegan Revord, Annie Potts while introducing Iain Armitage as Sheldon Cooper. The show essentally follows Sheldon in the 1980s and 1990s when he was living in Texas.

Apparently, the series is quite popular with it being on its 3rd season with another one on the way - good for the fans of the show, I guess? Anyway, this is a show that I cannot stand as I already had a hard time enjoying Sheldon in TBTB but they somehow managed to make him more annoying & irritating in the prequel. Overall, the show ain't my cup of tea and I am cutting it because it doesn't hold up to the other shows nominated.

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo

IPB Image

I think this show is a guilty pleasure for a few people but it's not the sort of thing that appeals to me in the least and I wanted to make a quick cut in order to save Skins, so. Anyway, the show center around Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson as well as her family in the town of McIntyre, Georgia. I've seen a variety of Honey Boo Boo's gifs, one of which I've posted above but nothing from the show itself.

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo was cancelled by TLC after four seasons after cast member June "Mama June" Shannon was seen with the man who molested her oldest child and is father to another of her children, prompting Shannon to admit to Entertainment Tonight that both of the men are both registered sex offenders. Another reason for this to go.

The Royals

Since Chris took my cut I will have to write BS about a different show. So rude.

Anyway after a quick google search I think I found a winner. Who tf thought this was a good idea? A show around the royal family isn't a bad idea, but The Crown this show isn't. The show was aired on E!, and it centers around a modern take on the royal family. The base premise of the show starts with the death of the heir to the throne, and all that goes on after that. The show got mostly negative reviews, and it finally got cancelled after 4 seasons. Anyway bye.

Dharma & Greg

This is one of the shows I haven't watched in a long time. I did watch this back when it was on tv. I used to practice my clarinet during the commercial break. (Yes I only practiced once a week and the teacher commented that he could tell I practiced :giggle:)

Anyway. The show lasted for 5 seasons and was on ABC network. It stars Jenna Elfman and Thomas Gibson (huh. I didn't remember this when I watched Criminal Minds). This show seems very critically acclaimed. It earned 8 Golden Globe nominations, 6 Emmy Nominations and 6 satellite nominations.

With other sets of nominations, I would have saved this show. Sadly for this show (and it's fans), that's not the case.

Everybody Hates Chris

First off I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Wasn't exactly expecting noms but decided to check the site while I was waiting for my food to be ready and here we are. I have seen a couple of episodes of this show but it's not really for me. It's based on the teenage experience of Chris Rock and it's narrated by Chris Rock. It's a sitcom that lasted 4 seasons. It was only the CW and it was actually critically acclaimed and it got nominated for a bunch of awards. Tyler James Williams played Chris and Terry Crews played Julius. There was a bunch of shows that were nominated that I liked so I chose to cut this one because I am not attached to it so I hope no one else is either if so I am sorry.

Merry Christmas, bitches! Anyway, I’m cutting this show because I have no idea what it is. Looking it up, it’s another police show like how many more do we need?! BUT! Reading through its Wikipedia page, it seems like this show is actually a good police show. Okay, so The Shield follows the activities of an experimental division of the Los Angeles Police Department set up in the fictional Famington district, the Farm, of LA, a district ride with gang violence, drug trafficking, and prostitution. Operating out of a converted church, known as the Barn, the Farmington police work to maintain the peace in the district. It is known for its portrayal of corrupt police officers and references to the true to life Rampart Division police scandal. Several actors like Glenn Close, Forest Whitaker, Franka Potente, and Laurie Holden took extended roles on the show which is like wow.

It received critical acclaim and several awards like the Emmys and Golden Globes. Too bad I never knew about it and I’m just tired of American police show if it doesn’t have an interesting twist to me. So, bye bye!

90 Day Fiancé

IPB Image
IPB Image

Wasn’t planning on doing a write-up today but I saw the noms and needed to save Dear White People for being one of the best shows at the moment. I almost nominated 90 Days during my round but couldn’t due to being nominated the round prior but its time has finally come. 90 Day Fiancé is a reality tv show that is currently on its seventh season and it airs on TLC. The show follows couple who have applied for a K-1 visa which can only be applied by the foreign fiancés of American citizens, any by doing that they have 90 days to marry each other. Apparently the show has been quite a success cause apart of still being on the air after its sixth season, it also has like a gazillion spin-offs. I haven’t watched the show nor do I plan to to but if there’s any fan out her of the show, sorry to you.

Olive Kitteridge

IPB Image

IPB Image

Gah yeah like everyone else, wasn’t really expecting noms to happen today. Sadly that bit me in the butt losing one of my very big favorites (at least a Top 15 fave, likely higher). Although I will have to take blame for not protecting my fave shows this round so gahhh….. it’s definitely hard to take in right now. I just need my moment but I promise I will move on and get over it. :haha: Ugh I am probably doing the same of cutting another person’s big favorite without knowing but I really hope that isn’t case. :dead: Okay time to discuss Olive Kitteridge.

Olive Kitteridge is a show that I never heard of before, but I am going to learn about it now. Olive Kitteridge is an American television mini-series that aired on HBO and is based on Elizabeth Strout’s 2008 novel, Olive Kitteridge. Frances McDormand stars as the lead character. Other actors and actresses in the show includes Richard Jenkins (who plays her husband Henry Kitteridge), Zoe Kazan and Bill Murray. Olive is a misanthropic and strict (but meaning very well) retired schoolteacher who lives in Crosby, Maine. She lives with her husband Henry, who runs a pharmacy in the downtown area - and the two have a son named Christopher who deals and goes through some trouble before growing up to become a podiatrist. For 25 years, Olive deals with a lot of problems herself, including depression, bereavement, jealousy and friction with family and friends.

The series received lots of critical acclaim having won 8 awards at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Limited Series, which is very impressive! :omg: The miniseries sounds quite interesting and I wonder how Olive deals with all of the stuff she goes through. I will provide a trailer below...
