LAKISHA JONES

 

LaKisha Jones was one of the resident diva & powervocalist on the 6th season of American Idol. During her audition, she impressed the judges with her vocals on "Think" - she easily made it through to the Hollywood Round. After the Hollywood Round, she made the semi-finalists where she killed the semi-finals with "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going To", "Midnight Train to Georgia", and "I Have Nothing". It was no surprise that she made through the Top 12 after those 3 amazing performances,  and the next 2 following week she would deliver 2 good performances of "God Bless The Child" and "Diamonds Are Forever".  The following weeks, Lakisha started to struggled with performances like "Last Dance" and "Stormy Weather". And when it came time for the Top 8 to perform, LaKisha was seen as one of the weakest links after her performance of "Conga" - she continued to struggle the following weeks with "I Believe" and "Jesus Take The Wheel". Despite not being a frontrunner anymore, Lakisha managed to make it all the way to the Top 4 - she should have been eliminated after her performance of "I Believe" but her rendition of "This Ain't A Lovesong" saved her, which is one of my favourite performance of hers as it was so unexpected. Anyway, Lakisha is super talented but she was inconsistent throughout her time on Idol - this spot is more than generous for her.
