As was also mentioned by Jeffery Austin, the coaches and TPTB discuss steals prior to the battles and KO. They make deals with each other, and likely place those pairings in the earlier tapings. That doesn’t necessarily mean every steal is pre-arranged, but some of them very likely are. That may explain a few head scratchers over the years.
