Yeah, based on that Casey definitely has the smoothest voice of the 3. I think it’s good he balances them out. Idk if “catchy” is the right word but that song is definitely an earworm.

This Libianca (Team Blake, season 21) interview is dated 01/20/23. There are also some recent posts about her single in Voice General Discussion 2.

Oh, so I saw it is a Ghanaian flag even though she’s Cameroonian. Good to know I’m not crazy then :haha:

I actually listen to the lyrics more and I think it’s cool how the song is a bop but then she’s actually expressing all these difficult feelings underneath.

Texas Hill is a trio comprised of Craig Wayne Boyd (winner of The Voice season 7), Adam Wakefield (runner-up of The Voice season 10), and Casey James (third place on American Idol season 9). Before The Voice and American Idol, all three were in bands. The two native Texans (Craig and Casey) began playing and writing together in 2019. Craig invited Adam to join them about a month later. They announced the band publicly in June 2020 via Billboard. After releasing their self-titled 5-track EP in September 2020 and a holiday project, the group released the 12-track album Heaven Down Here on 01/21/22. It includes blues, country, R&B, and southern rock elements. (Incidentally, the seventh track is Easy on the Eyes and the credited writers are Adam, Craig, Casey, and Morgan Myles. She isn't listed as a co-writer on any other song on the album.) The guys had previously played the Grand Ole Opry individually, but the country supergroup made its Opry debut on 01/22/22.

Most songs on Heaven Down Here were written or co-written by one or more of the bandmates. Tracks six and eleven are the only exceptions. The eleventh (Darkest Sky) and the second (For the Love of It) tracks are probably my favorites on the album.

I don't know whether the 01/09/23 studio time was for Texas Hill or a solo CWB project.

Craig was apparently in the studio for a solo project. Due to a shake-up in December, he's no longer with Texas Hill.

Libianca’s “People” has charted this week on the Bubbling Under hot 100, which is a 25 song extension to the regular Hot 100 (the main music chart in the US).

Interesting tidbit but if the song moves over to pop radio, I think it would be one of only very few songs by voice alums to chart there. Melanie’s Pity Party did but barely, and Morgan Wallen did recently as a country crossover.

Thinking of making a separate thread for tracking that song’s progress, but might just wait until she’s on the chart proper which seems very likely in a week or two.

Besides pop, what other genre charts do you think she might show up on?

The genre charts I know best are pop, HAC, and alternative, so the latter two would be a no-go. Unless the song gets really popular, then HAC might start to play it a little bit, but I don't want to get ahead of myself lol.

Based on the historical performance of Afrobeats songs that have recently gotten popular though, I'd say Rhythmic is a safe bet.

Speaking of Omar. Did anyone notice in the early rounds of the voice he had polyamorous on his Bio?

Damn, I wish I screenshotted it cause now it's gone. But I thought it was cool seeing an openly polyamorus person on the voice. Thankfully I don't think the majority of the fb audience knows what it means.. if they even go on insta to begin with.

It's up there again.

Steve Lacy won a grammy for "Best Urban Contemporary Album" for his album "Gemini Rights", and Season 15's Foushee has writing credits on 4/10 of the songs on the album ("Mercury", "Bad Habit", "Cody Freestyle", "Sunshine"). She's also featured on "Sunshine".

This interview happened in 2022, but since I'm an idiot, I missed it.

Anyways here it is. (Actual part starts at 10 min mark)

https://omny.fm/shows/between-the-grooves/changing-genres-with-jordan-smith

Main Points: Jordan isn't a Pop singer anymore, he's now a Christian Artist.

He also said here that the reason his fans are so open about it, and continue to support him, is because most people kinda figured it early on that he will choose that path one day. So, basically he meant that most people saw it coming.

However, the biggest shocker for me in this interview was that, it wasn't Jordan who chose "Great is Thy Faithfulness," it was Adam's choice.

Jordan will perform at Lancaster Bible College on March 23, 2023.

Motive:

Jordan says of his most recent record “Great You Are”, that it’s the pinnacle of everything he has ever wanted to do. It’s the fulfillment of his Plan A. “Connecting people to God just feels natural, and it feels free, and it feels easy,” he admits. “I want people to experience the Holy Spirit. I want them to be uplifted, and I want them to feel God’s love and His acceptance through my music, even if they don’t know what that is, even if they don’t understand that’s what they’re experiencing. My lifelong dream is to be able to make music for the church and to just experience heaven with people.”
