Oooh, well I didn't know the details. :haha:  I thought he sent a text saying "peace out." as a way of breaking up. But thanks for clearing that up as that changes things.

That's you after sending your tip. (!) And did you finish reading?

Great write-up, Denise!

I used to watch it but it went downhill quickly. Plus I know the ending and it just doesn't sit well with me :haha:

Thank you!

This is why I ignore the ending. :haha: I enjoyed the rest of it. ❤️

As promised, this is my honorary write-up for The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime as it was robbed and deserves a better write-up than what it got. I will start by stating the following: The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime is a masterpiece! For those who are unfamiliar with it, it was the first season of Ryan Murphy’s anthology’s series, American Crime Story.

Unlike what people believe, this show does not glorify the murder nor O.J. Simpson. In fact, the show is inspired by a book entitled “The Run of His Life: The People v. O. J. Simpson” where it examines the different aspect of OJ’s trial – the series focuses on OJ’s life but also on the trial and the effect the trial had on the prosecution and the defense. Notably, the series gave people a new interest in the trial, nearly 20 years since it all began – a new generation were interested in knowing more about the case, as there’s more to the trial than what the series was able to accomplish.

It also gave the opportunity to make people know more about Marcia Clark – notably the amount of sexism she faced in her career, Christopher Darden, Gil Garcetti, Robert Kardashian, Robert Shapiro, and Johnnie Cochran – these individuals all played an important part in the trial that is often known as the trial of the century. In fact, I never heard of them until the show – I knew about the case but all I knew about the case was O.J. Simpson and the infamous glove.

Now, some people may dismiss this show as a masterpiece because it is a miniseries. But it is a show just like any other show – it accomplished more in 1st season than some shows accomplish in their 24th season… The show was heavily praised by many critics and individuals involved such as Marcia Clark – this is not to say that it was not criticized by other individuals as it’s always hard to enjoy something that is so personal which I understand why some family did not enjoy the show. Overall, the reception was positive where the show scored an impressive 22 Emmy nominations in 13 categories where they won 9 awards, including Outstanding Limited Series and Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series.  The show was also praised due to its acting including Sarah Paulson, Courtney B. Vance, and Sterling K Brown – all 3 of them won the Emmy for acting in a Limited Series, and rightfully show.

For me, the show is a masterpiece due to its acting – Sarah Paulson’s portrayal of Marcia Clark was incredible, it is probably one of her best portrayal for which she won her Emmy. I would even say that ensemble is probably one of the best I’ve seen for a mini-series, and it would be up there as a TV show as well – the way each character interact with each other is incredible. I also want to give a shout-out to Selma Blair’s portrayal of Kris Kardashian – she stole every scene in which she appeared, notably while grieving the lost of her best friend.

On top of the acting, the directing and writing are incredible – I would say that “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia”, “The Verdict”, “From the Ashes of Tragedy”, and “The Race Card” were my favorite episodes of the mini-series.  Overall, the mini-series is in a class of its own – this is probably one of Ryan Murphy’s best work to date, and this is coming from someone who generally love any shows that he creates.

I will conclude by saying that if you have never watched the show, I recommend you do so as it is brilliantly made. And its in a class of its own due to the acting, directing, writing, editing, etc.…

Everyone must now privately message me five television shows you want nominated. Your Top 2 choices will be nominated. I request extra shows in case another ranker nominates the same shows. If there are matching noms, then I’ll pick the third choice of whomever sent me their nominations first between the two.

When I get all the nominations, I will post them here. All fifteen rankers will cut and save at a first come, first serve basis.

You all have 24 hours. If I don’t receive your noms by the deadline, then I’ll pick shows from the list of whomever sent noms first.

The People vs. OJ  Such an amazing miniseries. So sad I missed that round, bc I definitely would have tried to save it if I could have! Sarah and Sterling were especially fabulous in their roles, but the entire cast was very strong. I had a pretty solid familiarity with the case itself, but even if I hadn’t the program did a great job of presenting all of the important parts. Definitely gone way too soon from this ranking.

I actually haven’t watched the Versace one yet, but I definitely plan on it. If it’s half as good as this one was I’ll be impressed!

Great job on the Gossip Girl writeup as well :heartbounce: I was a huge fan when it was airing (though the first 2-3 seasons are definitely the strongest). I was actually between saving that and Grey’s for my 2nd save last round (since I had a decent handful I was looking to save), and wound up going Grey’s at the last minute. Sad to see this one out so early as well, but it’s definitely going to be hard from here on out as we’ve weeded out a lot of the easy cuts.

I agree - I knew the basic but didn’t know Marcia and company so it was neat to see them being the main focus too.

And I really love Versace one too - not as near it but it’s super good!

No, I didn’t block anyone, but my inbox got full again. But I got your nominations after you replied to the other message you sent me with your immunity picks, so no worries there.

And best wishes!
