  1. I’m pretty sure I was on my third listen when Wally finally listed to it.
  2. To what i assume is nobody’s surprise, @*Chris and I are advancing You Oughta Know.
  3. Andrew and I are already figuring out which show we’re going to.

    Top 5 Poll

Jack / Triston / Will is my prediction.
  5. ABC: *realizes American Idol makes more in brand association and revenue from tying it into CMA Fest every summer* Also ABC: *casts more and more country/country-adjacent contestants since their two most successful alumni have been country* This forum: If people are really bothered by how the show is nowadays, just stop watching. That's what I did when The Voice years ago.
  6. I think that was probably the initial intent post-S18 (as evidenced by how early they did them for S19/S20), but I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to keep waiting until around the finale to prevent another S19 situation.
  7. The endless posts here complaining about country singers outlasting the others (especially last night) are more annoying than the actual country contestants making it far every year.
  8. For S16, it was either just prior to the finale or right after it. It was only the Top 3 who had singles. For S17, they didn't release the singles until after the winner was revealed. I think S18 did the same, but I can't remember. For S19, they released singles for the entire Top 7 shortly after the Top 7 episode aired. For S20, it was the Friday prior to the Top 5 episode. Last season, they did singles for the entire Top 5 but they weren't released until the Friday before the finale. They've stated that they're songs written for the contestants, but that could just be a story they say. (For example, Nicolina's in S20 was a cover, iirc.) The contestants are allowed to be involved in the writing process if they choose. So far, only one coronation single has been entirely written by the contestant themself:
  9. Not me forgetting about Triston's Round 1 performance in the OP. Round 1: Jack Blocker - “Long Tall Sally” (Little Richard) - Entertaining. Emmy Russell - “SHUT UP + DANCE” (Walk the Moon) - Meh. McKenna Faith Breinholt - “E.T.” (Katy Perry) - Meh. Will Moseley - “Gimme Three Steps” (Lynyrd Skynyrd) - Meh. Abi Carter - “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)” (Fall Out Boy) - High school talent show. Triston Harper - "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" (Travis Tritt) - Bad. Julia Gagnon - “Roam” (The B-52s) - Bad. Round 2: McKenna Faith Breinholt - “Make You Feel My Love” (Bob Dylan) - In the words of JoJo, it was probably too little too late, but she went out on a high. Abi Carter - “Hello” (Adele) - I wish the judges would do their f*cking jobs and tell Abi to stick to this style of performance. Jack Blocker - “One and Only” (Adele) - Loved it. Will Moseley - “Rolling in the Deep” (Adele) - I dug the arrangement. Triston Harper - “Easy on Me” (Adele) - At least he wasn't dancing. Emmy Russell - “Water Under the Bridge” (Adele) - Bad. Julia Gagnon - “Set Fire to the Rain” (Adele) - Bad. Overall McKenna Faith Breinholt - “Make You Feel My Love” (Bob Dylan) Abi Carter - “Hello” (Adele) Jack Blocker - “One and Only” (Adele) Jack Blocker - “Long Tall Sally” (Little Richard) Will Moseley - “Rolling in the Deep” (Adele) Emmy Russell - “SHUT UP + DANCE” (Walk the Moon) McKenna Faith Breinholt - “E.T.” (Katy Perry) Will Moseley - “Gimme Three Steps” (Lynyrd Skynyrd) Triston Harper - “Easy on Me” (Adele) Emmy Russell - “Water Under the Bridge” (Adele) Abi Carter - “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)” (Fall Out Boy) Triston Harper - "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" (Travis Tritt) Julia Gagnon - “Set Fire to the Rain” (Adele) Julia Gagnon - “Roam” (The B-52s)
  10. Jack just nodding and walking off stage after he makes it through while everyone else flips out at making it through has become one of my favourite running gags of the season.
  11. You’re just waiting until everyone else’s picks are in so you have less Beyoncé songs to choose from.
