Alton Williams (The Real World: Las Vegas)

Original.jpg?v=1

My heart was broken by the elimination of Coral Smith, one of the pioneers of reality television and the actual reason this series became of such notoriety back in the day. I could write about Coral forever. Instead, I have to write about Alton. SIGH. I have disliked Alton since his premiere on the infamously chaotic The Real World: Las Vegas. Alton is f*cking sexy, but his personality is quite yikes. His first major storyline is his ex-girlfriend Melissa calling with a pregnancy scare, to which. he was relieved when she found out that she was not carrying. Then, Alton disagrees with Irulan and Arissa who righteously refer to their boss of their assigned job as a "molester," since he makes unwanted sexual advances towards both of them. YIKES.

Alton at least defends Arissa when Frank calls her a "Black b*tch." Because the Las Vegas cast was that f*cking bad. LOL. But he immediately returns to being horrible after revealing his anger at having to dance with Steven, for fear of being perceived as gay. YIKES again. He starts to romantically play with both Arissa and Irulan, but he eventually starts to become attracted to Irulan. He uses her to make out and then drops the bomb on her afterwards that he only wants to be friends. LOL. There is obviously a lot of hurt inside Alton, which can best be explained by the abduction and murder of his younger brother. His mother even comes to see him while filming the show so that he can sign legal papers regarding all of this tragedy.

I hate that he experienced what he did, but he continues to show his ass at every opportunity he can. Steven brings his gay best friend over to visit, and Alton feels uncomfortable, citing "past traumatic experiences" with gay men. YIKES some more. Alton continues to grow closer to Irulan over time, but is thrown off by her open relationship at home, so he stops pursuing the relationship. And immediately has sex with a random woman he meets at a club. Then a threesome with two women during the cast trip to Australia. All while still stringing Irulan along and hurting her in the process. Then he lies about it when confronted and tells her that she should not care what he does. But then he gets in a playful drunken fight with her and reconciles. LOL. Then he decides to play with her and purposely make her jealous (she. does as well). GOD I FORGOT HOW TOXIC THEY WERE TOGETHER. This only continues as they finally have sex and form a relationship, but then he gives a random woman his number right in front of Irulan. Her anger finally prompts him to admit he loves her and sees a future with her. JFC.

That is how his story ends on The Real World. He continues to date Irulan for three years, the relationship being a major source of drama on his first season of The Challenge, the OG season of The Gauntlet. Alton became a much bigger name on The Challenge, due to his impressive physical capabilities. Alton and Irulan caused a ton of drama in the house with their toxic personalities and were reportedly very rude to production, camera crews, etc. However, Alton definitely stood out as the strongest member of Team Real World, and nobody was taking him out of the competition. He defeated Laterrian in an elimination towards the end of the season, helped lead the Real World team, and even fought with Theo after Irulan's controversial elimination. Alton made the finals of his rookie season, but lost after the Coral spider bite.

Alton returned for his second season on The Gauntlet 2 as part of the Rookies Team. Alton won the opening Team Captain Challenge and maintained his position throughout the entire season. Alton helped lead the pretty dominant Rookies Team to victory while impressively eliminating three of his teammates due to the weird elimination format that season. Pretty sure he was hooking up with Jodi all season as well. He established himself as a pretty intense physical force this season and became a Champion pretty quickly into his Challenge career. He was also far less toxic this time around and by this point had removed a lot of negative attention away from his younger days.

Alton returned for his third season on Inferno 3 as a member of the Good Guys Team to once again ruin his reputation though. LOLOLOL. His homophobia showed once again with the whole refusal to wear a speedo nonsense. He was a self-righteous assh*le the entire season. The only nice thing he did was step into the first elimination for Davis and send Tyrie home. Once again, Alton made his third consecutive final, but he was not successful this time around. Good Guys were a mess. LOL.

His last and final season saw him return after a five year hiatus to be part of the glorious mixed-season Las Vegas Team on Battle of the Seasons 2012. His long hiatus made me excited for his return. Too bad he ruined that excitement pretty early on. LOL. He basically came back acting like he was above-it-all, turning his nose up at the fighting and the arguing. Like he hasn't been doing that for over a decade on these shows. His most interesting quality, his physical skills, really were not on display here. Whether it be due to his age or his lack of desire to compete. IDK. He formed a romantic relationship with Sarah R. that caused some drama. He definitely fought with Team San Diego on occasion. But he was entirely a d*chebag that should have never returned tbh. This is very evident when he is put into elimination with Nany and seems to throw it in order to go home. Alton, who has Olympian level athletic skills and is in a class of his own, lost to Marie and Robb? YEAH. I don't buy it. I might hate Nany now, but I loved her back then and Alton did her so dirty. He still claims that he did not throw the elimination though.

He ended his career on a sad note and reinforced my belief that he is just not a good person. I guess we will see what happens with his return on the OG show!

Emily Bailey (Road Rules: USA - The Second Adventure)

mtv-rwrr-challenge-battle-of-the-sexes-s

A legend that deserved endgame? Absolutely. There are very few reality television villains quite as iconically evil and delicious to watch as Emily Bailey, who wreaked havoc on Battle of the Sexes and created an environment that was so toxic...LOL. I love her so much. I am disgusted that she is eliminated, but what would the finals be without the legend that is Beth. Let's take it back to the very beginning, with. her debut on the second season of Road Rules back in 1996.

Emily was very clearly a small-town white girl that had not experienced a lot outside of her sheltered life. She was scared by the small plane they took to Bimini Islands. She was in fear of deep waters. She was very quick to flirt with one of the shark researchers at their mission site. LOL. Her quick and vastly-growing friendship with Devin had her revealing that he was her first and only "Black friend." She hates Mardi Gras and does not enjoy women revealing their breasts for beads. Things really become even more clear when Emily and Devin discuss Black culture and he explains the reasons behind crime levels seen in Black communities. These were very obviously lessons her privileged, sheltered white self had never learned. But as their next mission takes them on the road towards her hometown, she ignores Devin in favor of her ex-boyfriend in a stop made in Nashville. This causes an argument between Emily and Devin, but the two make up. After arriving home, Emily learns of her sister's engagement, which causes her to feel intense emotions about her ex-boyfriend. After upsetting conversations ensue, Devin comforts an upset Emily. An ambiguous relationship is continuing to form between the two, all coming to a head after roommate Christian questions the two on the nature of their relationship. Emily and Devin both admit to having feelings for one another. It's pretty sweet tbh. She continues to learn a lot during the experience, with Effie teaching her about life and war in Israel. She gets into small, but quickly settled disputes with Effie and Christian, both of which have her looking like the peacemaker. Oh, what a might fall she has. LOL.

Eventually, the relationship between Emily and Devin hits a breaking point, as Devin is now the one interacting with his ex-girlfriend and brushing Emily off to deal with his ex. Emily becomes extremely jealous and feels insecure over her deep attachment to him. Devin definitely treats her poorly, but the two mend their relationship eventually. In a full circle moment though, Emily finds herself tasked with flying an airplane, to which she does miraculously well, winning the mission for the RV. She really grows leaps and bounds over the course of the season, but there are still hints of her troublemaking ways underneath the surface. She gets into a huge fight with Effie due to her own jealousy of the relationship formed between Effie and Chris. She fights with Devin as they consider how to move forward with the relationship as the experience nears the end. She wants to be more than friends, but Devin seems set on leaving platonically. The two share an extremely emotional good-bye, and Emily leaves a changed individual.

Emily makes her first appearance on The Challenge in 2001, as part of Team Road Rules on Extreme Challenge. Emily is not yet the dramatic villain we would come to know her as, but that is also because the show had not yet established eliminations or the Inner Circle. However, she did meet her future boyfriend, James Orlando, on this season. And we know the effects of that duo on the Battle of the Sexes house.

Team Real World lost the Extreme Challenge, but we would see Emily return for her second season on the OG Battle of the Seasons. And here the legend!!!!! is born.

Emily is paired with fellow legend Timmy on Team Road Rules and she wastes ZERO time becoming an absolute devious mastermind. With the introduction of the Inner Circle concept, Emily IMMEDIATELY forms an alliance with Chadwick and Holly in order to cut Veronica and Yes from the game. LOLOLOLOL. But she was pretty swiftly called out, exposed the alliance, and then shifts all of the blame on to Chadwick and Holly, painting them as the villains of the season. When in reality, she started it all.

God I love her. Piggy, Chadwick, and Holly all confront her about exposing the alliance and shifting blame. Jisela goes off on her and calls her a liar. It is all so glorious. We even get to see the nasty email Chadwick sends to Emily after he is eliminated, blaming her for causing all this drama and getting him sent home as a consequence. Such a phenomenal sh*t-stirrer. After all of that dies down, Emily is pretty drama free. She and Timmy remain in the Inner Circle the entire season, even winning the last two dailies of the season. She made the finals, but Team Real World emerged victorious.

Emily returned for her third and final season on Battle of the Sexes, this time, with her boyfriend James in tow. I cannot even explain to you how iconic her villainy is on this season. Her storyline is still one of the most fabulously evil and entertaining in Challenge history. She basically decides to manipulate the f*ck out of the very weak and conflicted Ruthie and Ellen on a weekly basis, dominates the camera time with her relationship with James, fighting with him over his participation in the strop trivia mission. She makes it very known her hatred for Veronica because she slept with James. She makes it. very known her hatred for Rachel due to Rachel being physically strong and close friends with Veronica. Emily finally manages to infiltrate the Inner Circle and decides to eliminate every single woman she dislikes, while spinning webs of lies to Ruthie and Ellen and convincing them that it is all in the name of "team morale" LOLOLOL. She causes a sh*t ton of controversy with every single elimination and mindsf*cks Ruthie and Ellen every single time into doing what she wants.

Every time she does what she wants, it achieves chaos. LOL. And somehow Emily escapes unscathed EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Ellen and Ruthie take the fall. EVERY. WEEK.

Emily still has James wrapped around her finger. She is in power and cutting every single b*tch she does not care for. She has loyal minions in the likes of Anne and and Christina who fully bought into her BS that this is for the betterment of the team. The men basically ridicule the women for all the drama and shenanigans, yet Emily is not immediately pegged as the devil that she is. IT IS SO AMAZING TO WATCH.

Every bit of drama on this season is pretty much produced and manufactured by Emily Bailey. A LEGEND. The perfect end to her story? After demolishing the morale and spirit of the women's team, she LITERALLY QUITS right before the end of the season because of James's elimination. Each and every week she pretty much damaged her own team, sat pretty, gave zero f*cks, eliminated her rivals, and then bounced because of her man leaving. Despite being just ahead of Lori in the points and set up to make it to the finals once again! You cannot achieve this type of storyline greatness on television anymore.

Emily Bailey did iconic reality television villainy before most. And she did it so well. Bummer that she could not make the endgame.
