Haven't heard Lauren's version in quite a while and I forgot how gorgeous it was. Very few times have I rooted for a country artist, but she definitely deserved to win over Chris. seak05 Posted April 7, 2020 Share Posted April 7, 2020 Definitely Lauren's. Her vocal on that + connection. It's easier to do though as a solo performance then as a battle duet. Additionally, the production/musicianship was much better for Lauren's then for the battle. This isn't a knock on the voice band, but Lauren's performance had live steel guitar and fiddle, by two really good players, and they don't do that for the battle rounds. I think it’s one of the best studio recordings in the history of the show. Todd and Jon did fine, but this isn’t even a fair fight. Plus everything seak said above. Ya know....I've read that many times.... IDF didn't care for Tell Me Why.....but it was 1 of 2 that got the iTunes bonus....it was the only time we saw her for real with her guitar....she killed it and I loved it. As to Blake's duet ....those are typically cringe worthy.
