Abi Carter & K.B. Richins in violation of the rules?

Let’s say for argument sake, they stay in. What happens if BBR Music Group decides they want to sign one or both of them?

Even if BBR is interested, Groundwork signed them first. Also, if they stay in the competition considering Groundwork didn't want Idol on their social media or associated with them what would they do next? It's a messy situation.

It's definitely going to be a messy situation no matter what. And realistically there are no good options for the idol producers they are in a lose / lose situation.

Doesn’t BBR have the first right of refusal for contestants who make the top 10? I’d be interested to see what it says in that contract.

Imagine if Will were to sign with Warner Nashville tomorrow, re-release Gone For Good, stay in the competition, and win the show. The only difference is Warner is a much bigger player. BBR might have a problem with that.

Omg that sounds like amazing tv. :dead:

It was quite scandalous, especially because the girl claims she told production about her previously working as an escort and I think she attempted to sue the show? They chose a really unpopular contestant as the new winner which also caused a ruckus.

I know Idol can’t force someone to stay in the competition, but you think they’d have some kind of rule where you can’t sign with a management group until six months has passed or something. Anything to deter people from quitting because the grass might be greener on the other side. Especially if they made the Top 24.

Also, I guess one good thing if Abi/Blake/KB hypothetically quit is that they are immediately releasing music. It won't be a Kenedi situation where it takes 2 years to release a debut single lmaoo :dead:

Of course I'd rather them both in the competition AND release music tho.

Yeah regardless we are getting music from them. KB song sounds good from the clip that I heard.

if those 3 somehow left, then it only opens the door for a Mckenna/Will/Emmy final 3 lmao

It's too early to make that kind of call.  Every season, there's always people who fall short, lose momentum.  Then there are the underdogs who have a growth arc that audiences rally around.

This guy from Groundwork is probably overestimating the popularity of singing show contestants. Sure, they could make it in the industry, but “likes” and views, based on very favorable edits can be misleading. His strategy appears to be to bring on several contestants, and hope to develop one of them into the next Benson Boone. Assuming the investment is minimal, it’s probably worth a shot. The contestants involved are taking the bigger risk, IMO.

I don't know how deep his pockets are or what type of connections he has but if he's willing to spend the money required you can make people stars.

If only it were that easy…

At least some contestants from this show are still viewed as potentially viable in the music industry. I wish that was also the case with the other show.

K.B. has said that she doesn't really know what direction she wants to go in. She says she loves, pop, country and soul and would like to incorporate all 3 into her songs. So she could go in a lot of different directions I guess.

Well, at least she’s not solely a country singer unlike Will.  She can sing pop and soul as well.

Season 19 was a fever dream tbh. Benson quitting, Cecil being arrested like a week after being eliminated, Wyatt quitting, the comeback twist + Arthur Gunn returning, Caleb Kennedy being disqualified, Arthur's finale drama with Sheryl Crow... what a time to be an Idol fan 💀

Don't forget Claudia trying to avoid her own family drama, and Hannah claiming she can use slurs because she's Cuban. 🧐

Also it was really cool when the two robbed goddesses (Andrea + Anilee) got together...Like, how was a quarter of the Top 24 just girls with A names???😅

I think I'm guilty of calling S19 my favorite for all this and the countless other robbed contestants...Still love you, Willie.💙

I thought Abi Carter was pimped so hard they would know who is or not able to be on the show. And made her out to be someone knew to singing. I do not understand why should be still be around to just take her out?

Why would they sign after audition? I thought Abi said her whole life was to be on American Idol? then goes and signs a contact right after auditions? I do not think they should be kicked off but i do not think it was very classy of them.

I’m confused about everything lol. Why were they okay with Blake coming on the show if he was already signed to a management agency? What if he were to win? How would they get him out of his old contract? Why would Abi and KB drop out to be managed by the same agency that represents a guy they’re competing with? He had to go on Idol just like they did, it’s not like his career was on fire. Make it all make sense. 🥲

Can someone please explain the strategy behind dropping 3 singles from 3 different artists simultaneously, before any of them get to appear on air again?

The release date of 3/29 is before any non-audition episodes are scheduled.

I thought the same thing. The producers could easily edit them out of Hollywood week too. Why not release them right before the top 24?

A lot of time will have elapsed since their audition. A lot of people have short attention spans, and won’t even remember them. LOL
