Abi Carter & K.B. Richins in violation of the rules?

Recommended Posts

Groundwork Management is managing Blake Proehl, Abi Carter, and K.B. Richins.

The key difference is that Blake has been signed with them for years (which the rules allow), while it seems Abi and K.B. signed with them very recently, presumably at some point after they auditioned (which the rules forbid).

“4. To accept an invitation to participate in the competition portion of the Program (currently scheduled to begin in December 2023), you must be able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of Producer that you do not have any contractual arrangement that would prohibit you from fully participating in the Program and/or entering into any contracts required by Producer or any of the other Program Entities (as defined below), including, but not limited to, an exclusive recording contract, merchandising contract, a live and/or global touring agreement, a music publishing or songwriting agreement, an agency live performance booking contract and an exclusive management contract (subject to paragraph 5 below).

5. In the event that you already have a management contract prior to your first audition in front of the Program judges, the requirement to enter into a management contract shall not apply to you provided that you can demonstrate to the satisfaction of Producer and the 19 Companies (as defined below) that such contract commenced prior to the date of your first audition in front of the Program judges.Furthermore, in the event that you have previously entered into and are still a party to a music publishing or songwriting agreement prior to your audition in front of the Program judges, then you agree to promptly disclose the existence of such agreement to Producer and the 19 Companies, provide material details of said agreement and/or provide a copy of such agreement upon the request of the 19 Companies, and you further agree not to extend the existing term of such agreement. Additionally, in the event that you already have an agency live performance booking agreement prior to your first audition in front of the Program judges, the requirement to enter into an agency live performance booking agreement shall not apply to you, provided that you can demonstrate to the satisfaction of Producer and the 19 Companies (as defined below) that such contract commenced prior to the date of your first audition in front of the Program judges. By accepting an invitation to be a participant, you must timely complete and return such participant agreements, releases and all exhibits, schedules and attachments thereto that will be furnished to you by Producer and/or the 19 Companies.

In addition, you acknowledge and agree that Producer has the sole discretion at any time to render ineligible and disqualify any person who, in Producer’s sole discretion, is sufficiently acquainted with the development, production, administration, judging, exhibition or other exploitation of the Program such that his or her participation in the Program could create the appearance of impropriety.

I think they would create a real shit storm if they removed 2 popular girls and kept the guy based on a minor technicality so I doubt it will amount to anything.

It has nothing to do with whether someone is popular - nor is it a gender issue.   The issue is whether someone violated a contract.

That's what I'm saying. There job is to make a show. It would be so counterintuitive to their product to enforce this. :dead:

But you made it about gender and whether someone is popular.

Okay let me spell it out for you more. Popularity brings ratings, ratings means you get to keep your job. It's also a great idea to try and avoid negative press. Sometimes it's not possible but you gotta do your best. So it would be pretty logical to assume a show that cares about ratings and "making stars" would not kick off 2 of their popular contentants over a possible minor rule break.

This^^ like maybe back then it wouldve mattered more, but not sure about it now

Yeah. it would be one thing if they weren't allowed to have managers but since you can have a manager it's not really that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.

I love a good chaotic Idol Maniac post (flashback to the Colin cancellation attempt thread of last season 💀)

Anyways I agree with others that I don't think it will matter. I'm also sure that Abi and KB likely mentioned it to production to make sure it was okay. They have too much to lose by being risky or sneaky.

So if it was 2 guys, i.e., Blake and Will who may be in question - or if it was Colin Stough, the same should apply, right?

The show wouldn't want to lose them either. Maybe if it was 2 people who got cut in Hollywood week they would just get rid of their videos and not show their Hollywood performances. But they ain't getting rid of their stars for this.

They could probably cut anyone mentioned above and not miss a beat. We’re not talking about Carrie Underwood back when the show was relevant.

These people are almost certainly never going to reach Carrie Underwood levels of fame but the margins are a lot slimmer for shows now a days so I think they could less afford even a small dip now then back then.

What I’m saying is the audiences of these shows move on quickly. They bitch a lot on social media but keep watching anyway.

They put there stuff back up though so I dunno.

Perhaps the producers backpedaled, deciding it was in their best interest to keep up appearances while they figured out how to handle a situation and control the narrative, which they are known to have done in the past in various ways?

I should also mention that photos of K.B. were removed from the audition episode #2 page on the press website and not re-added. Is that explained by an issue that was widely assumed to be related to audio or editing?

Yeah at the end of the day, if Abi/KB were to hypothetically be disqualified it would be like Season 20 when Kenedi quit: outrage and confusion for a week and then people move on. That being said I still believe they are both very much in the competition lol.

It also appears that images of Kayko have been removed tho.
