Abi Carter & K.B. Richins in violation of the rules?

Signing a recording contract during the season seems like a bridge too far, honestly.

Blake is releasing a single on March 29th through Groundwork, as well.

Although if they aren't even guaranting record deals to the winner anymore maybe it just doesn't even matter to them anymore.

Then they should change the contract. If that theory proves to be true, and they remain in the competition, they are setting a precedent for future rule breaking.

Is it possible Groundwork is the new management this season for any Idol contestants they are interested in? It would explain why Abi & KB are able to stay in the competition & why they're following several contestants.

That’s a possibility, at least for the non-country contestants, assuming that K.B. is not a country singer.

K.B. has said that she doesn't really know what direction she wants to go in. She says she loves, pop, country and soul and would like to incorporate all 3 into her songs. So she could go in a lot of different directions I guess.

It would be odd to encourage them to remove any mention of American Idol from their social media. There are also pre-existing contracts in place. They are releasing music through a label they just signed with.

I think they dropped out.

I considered that too, but I haven’t discovered any direct link between them. Also, notice that their singles are merely credited to Groundwork Records, rather than in partnership with 19.

Plus, if that were the case, I suspect Blake’s participation could create the appearance of impropriety, which the rules also address.

If Abi and KB are gone, I imagine Blake has to be as well. He’s the one with the original ties to Groundwork.

IDK, I guess Idol needs to introduce a hefty fine for breaking the contract in the future.

I think they are still in the competition. They are all dropping their singles on Friday, March 29th because Hollywood Week starts Sunday, March 31st.

I didn't know that Groundwork asked for them to remove Idol from their social media. That does make me think both dropped out. I didn't think both dropped out because this is such a small company. I would think if contestants really are considering dropping out trying to get a better deal with more better label/management especially since I think both have the potential to.

I agree that it would be odd to drop out to sign with such a small company. That’s why it didn’t make sense that they would even sign the deal now in the first place, regardless of whether they remained in the competition. Some people can be very convincing.

Tbh the only counterargument I could come up with for this is that the management doesn't want the artists making competing on Idol their personality trait since it could come across as cringe to followers. Which I get, but it's also shady (if that is even the case lmao)

If the 3 of them withdrew or were disqualified, it could be quite disruptive for production. All 3 are in the same Top 24 group and only 2 are suppose to be eliminated from each group. If it were to become known before the voting for that episode took place, viewers would not bother to vote at all that night, which would be an issue, as the producers are anticipating that voting data.

I think their only recourse would be to combine the voting for both days as otherwise it wouldn't really be fair that people got eliminated on part 2 but not part 1. The only other solution I can think of would be to just not eliminate anyone in Hawaii. Which is why I still think they probably just keep them.

At least this isn’t as bad as when a girl won Top Model and got disqualified for previously working as an escort, so they had to re-film the finale and pick a different winner lol.
