On a somewhat related matter, the administration basically said to ignore the SCOTUS ruling, encouraging companies to issue their own vaccine mandates.

yeah people are going to get sick with or without the mandates. no one should lose their job, but even if they get rid of all mandates, there will still be worker shortages everywhere, cases are going up so bad teachers are getting sick and parents are having to come in and teach in some areas same with nurses and doctors. no mandate will stop this though, its something we just have to deal with, hopefully in a month the new variant will start going down.

It’s 38-60 today. I checked RCP. This is the first time his disapproval has reached 60% in any poll. I thought -22 might have been a record, but he had a -23 poll in November. I’m not sure it’s possible to turn this around. He is already a lame duck with 3 years to go!

Pro tip to the “woke” crowd. Stop saying “Latinx.” They hate it. Read the replies to this tweet. ;) I’ve been seeing this for a while, but they are still doing it.

Yeah its pretty arrogant to try to change another language. Pro tip dress is a masculine noun..its not that deep. But it helps them not fix real problems because economically they work for the same team.

I think “wokeness” is part of what’s chasing many Hispanics away from the Democrat party. It probably applies to others too, but we can isolate the effect it is having on Hispanics with polling, and we can see there has been a major shift in a very short period of time. It didn’t just start with Biden’s presidency either. We saw this in both the 2020 and 2021 (Virginia) elections. It’s been particularly obvious in both Florida and Texas. The shifts have been monumental.

As we see in that New Yorker piece I linked above, the response from the left has been to call them “gullible,” which just another way of saying “stupid.” I don’t think this attitude is going to help stop the bleeding.

DeSantis is still living rent-free in Trump’s head. Obviously, this sort of thing isn’t good for either of them, going into midterms, but I’ll say it’s particularly dangerous for Trump if he’s serious about running again. As I’ve said before, DeSantis is very savvy, and rarely makes unforced errors.

Honestly, I rather have DeSantis ignore Trump at this point.

He probably will. As I just mentioned in my edit to my comment, he rarely makes an unforced error. He’ll be asked about it, and probably say it’s just the media trying to drive a wedge. However, I’m reasonably confident this is real, based on some other sources who are commenting on it. If Trump says these things publicly, he will alienate a chunk of his base. My guess is he even knows this, but we’ll see. Trump makes lots of unforced errors.

New York Times, Axios, every conservative media outlet, and the Drudge headline linking two different articles. I’m not sure what DeSantis’ name ID percentage was a couple days ago, but it’s a lot higher now. On the conservative side, I’m seeing some Trump loyalists digging their heels in and saying, “yeah, f-ck boring DeSantis,” and similar, but there are also many who aren’t digging this at all. I would wager most of them don’t even know much about him or his record. This gives them a reason to check it out. There are also a lot of people who like both of them who aren’t really thrilled by this, and conservatives who already didn’t like Trump (or are neutral on him, but skeptical of another White House run) now have another reason. This was a huge unforced error by Trump….one that could cost him the nomination.

Maybe its always been this way but I feel like over the last several years the Democrats have  ignored latinos (and somewhat Asians too) in favor of blacks. Obviously black people matter and their votes but Latinos are also the largest minority in the country by a large margain. And in FL/TX they make up about a third of the population. They're losing a lot of electoral votes.

A lot of blacks and Latinos who have a history voting Democrat have conservative values. Perhaps it’s not so difficult to get some of them to switch.  Without majorities in those two demographics, the Democrat party wouldn’t be viable on the national scene. They’d be relegated to California, and some of the NorthEast states. I wonder if Democrat leaders realize how shaky the ground is that they are walking on.

I think many of these people just self-identify as one party or the other depending on the status of the country. Early in the year, they claim to be democrats as the dems took over the white house and congress. Then when things went from bad to worse, they distanced themselves from the democrats.

I’ve been following this Trump/DeSantis nonsense pretty closely, and it’s starting to smell like BS. Could there be some disagreements about some things? Sure. But, it’s all anonymous “sources,” and the media is clearly issuing this to distract from Biden’s worst week of his Presidency. They are clearly twisting things around to make things seem worse than than what they probably are. Trump advisors are reportedly blaming it on McConnell staffers, but who knows whether that’s even true. Trump has significant business interests in Florida, and just announced yesterday that he applied to build 3500 high end housing units near one of his Florida golf courses, and wants to build casinos down there  too. From what I understand, there are some significant hoops to jump through to get approval. I doubt very much he wants either a Democrat Governor or a pissed off DeSantis.

I’m also having some doubts that he will actually run again after reading this. Granted it’s more unnamed sources. He has a pollster, and he apparently pays very close attention to the data. If Biden is polling in the upper 40s next year, his staffers say he won’t run. I’ll take it with a grain of salt, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he decides it’s too much for a 78 year old man to put himself through again. I’ll go with 50/50 for now.

I just today learned who Wendy Rogers is. I watched part of Trump’s rally in Arizona the other night, and he gave her a shoutout (edit: apparently she spoke at the rally too). I just didn’t know anything about her. State Senator from Arizona, batshit crazy, and a huge Trump supporter. This is just a sample of her rant, which has gone on for several hours. Based on the comments, it’s not working out very well for her.

There’s also this. I don’t think I need to explain the implication here.
