Can we just pencil in Wally's Lauren Gottlieb save now? :giggle:

You mean Mischa?

Also, every time I update the front page, I'm reminded there's still a decent amount of fodder still in this. :dead:

Well maybe if Mariah didn’t have immunity.

Lmao everyone predicting my cut and save. :dead:

But yeah let me point out the obvious..... Saving Lauren G, cutting Kupono.

Karen Hauer

Ugh sorry Wallace I know you love her and I enjoy her a lot but considering my options I didn't really have much of a choice. To be honest I mostly know Karen from Sticky Come Dancing as a badazz pro on that show that has done amazing for herself. She has a lot of success that she should be proud of coming from this show. She didnt a good job i guess lasting till top 12 during season 6. Nothing I really remember but still she made it to top 12 so that's nice. Not too happy to make this cut as she's a favorite of mine outside the show but during the show I never remember stanning her so

Saving: Lauren Froderman

Thanks for the shout-out. :'( Totally understand the cut as you prefer the other options. And I'm glad you've grown to like Karen more on Strictly as she's been great on there.

And this is also my cue to say that I do think Elliott would have really liked her last celeb partner, Chris Ramsey.

ASHLEY GALVAN

Ashley Galvan was one of the 5 girls cast for Season 7. As one of the contemporary females that season, she must have had an absolutely killer audition/Vegas Week. Unfortunately, I think the main clip they showed of her during the whole audition process is like a hair flip from the ballroom round or something. Either way, making the Top 5 girls that year was quite an achievement and she had a pretty good run and was one of the more interesting contestants that season, IMO. I remember thinking it was so random to cast her when she made it through Vegas Week, but then she stood out to me in the opening Wade Robson group routine for the showcase and I was immediately intrigued. She danced a quartet for the showcase to Estelle if I remember correctly, but that was kind of a nothing jazz piece and didn't do anything special for her.

Week 1 of the voting rounds, Ashley danced a contemporary piece with Neil, and it was pretty much not a showstopper. During judging Nigel was about to shade her for not being emotionally connected enough by asking if she had ever even been in love before, but then she threw a curveball back at him and said "as a matter of fact, I think I am" or something and it shut Nigel up and made a nice awkward moment for us all, so thanks for that Ashley. Week 2 she danced a very pretty lyrical jazz with Mark by Travis Wall which I much preferred to the contemporary with Neil, but for some reason Nigel was STILL on her case and used this time to complain that Travis's jazz piece wasn't jazzy enough for him or whatever which is SO STUPID because (1) why would you make Ashley's judging about Travis, (2) why would you come for Travis who is your golden child, (3) the show/producers usually have to approve all the dance submissions so what happened there, (4) jazz and contemporary are very similar styles anyway... not every contemporary has to be slow and emo and not every jazz has to be fast and sassy (5) shut up Nigel why do you hate this girl when you cast her in the first place.

Week 3, Ashley was paired with Ade and was extremely upset to get contemporary again, but her choreographer this time was the SYTYCD debut of Dee Caspary and she danced a gorgeous piece to Cosmic Love by Florence and the Machine. This is one of my all time favorite duets (I've been saying that a lot lately... I swear there are only so many duets in my personal Hall of Fame). The judges couldn't even pretend to dislike it, including Nigel. Mia commented that Ashley was her favorite girl that season and Adam Shankman said something about it being one of the best female contemporary performances the show has ever seen - which seems like typical reality judge hyperbole but this time I think it was 100% accurate. She also had a pretty great solo this week, and cemented herself as a contender for the finale.

Week 4 Ashley has hip-hop and quickstep, so she could never complain again about not having different styles. That week was the week of the Alex Wong injury, which pretty much blew the competition wide open since Alex seemed to be the chosen one that year. Unfortunately, the S7 curse struck Ashley in Week 5 and she had to withdraw from the competition due to an injury (LIKELY FROM DORIANA, THANKS FOR NOTHING). It was a stone cold bummer to lose her since she was building momentum and with Alex gone would have likely progressed past Robert, Adechike, Jose, and Billy easily. BUT I WILL SAY that I think if Ashley had remained in the competition, Lauren would have lost her "only girl" storyline, possibly split some votes, and that Kent would have won the season. So maybe Elliott should be a bigger fan of Ashley hahaha. Not happy to lose Ashley at this point in the game, but I just have to remind myself that it's only a game and everyone has different tastes (and there's always comebacks!)

Ashley now is part of Cirque Du Soleil Zumanity (which is the adult cirque show). She also got married so that's nice.

:wub::wub::wub::wub::wub:

SAVE: Natalie because she was one of the biggest characters on the season that pretty much invented SYTYCD, she's a badass soloist, beat Allison Holker, had a funny and classy exit, and deserves to stay longer than the two men who for some reason kept controlling her narrative on the show (Musa/Ryan)

I love Ashley and she made my Top 60 for quite a few years.

Kupono Aweau

Well since i cut Kupono’s original partner, Ashley, last round - then I might as well cut Ashley’s other half Kupono this time around. Okay so Kupono is a Jazz dancer who was on Season 5. He had that quirky out-of-the-box Jazz style that the judges raved about although on IDF, some of us like to call him Discount!Mark. :giggle:

Anywho I do like Kupono well enough but I liked the other 3 nominees more although I did consider cutting Ashley instead to cut two Ashley’s in a row. Back to Kupono, let’s go through his dances. He danced a Jazz to “Felt Mountain” (which again was very good but one of those dances I found overrated), he was bad in the Hip-Hop to “Imma Be” which got Ashley eliminated. He would then partner Kayla for 3 weeks and the two had a pretty strong partnership dancing a beautiful Viennese Waltz to “Sweet Dreams for You,” two epic and amazing Contemporary routines to “Eyes On Fire” and “Gravity” and a meh/forgettable Broadway to “The Dance at the Gym.” Then come Top 10, Kupono was partnered with Randi where they danced a Paso Doble to “Dies Irae,” which was really bad and got them both eliminated. Overall I liked Kupono but he was kind of a hit-or-miss kind of contestant and not the most versatile. But at least his best moments were really amazing moments.

And oh also he was really nice when I met him on the Season 5 tour. Well all of the dancers were but Kupono seemed especially bubbly and nice to his fans. I wish I could remember our interaction better but oh well.

Here are my two favorite routines from him, both of which are amongst my all-time favorite dances on the show - his Contemporary dances to “Eyes on Fire” and “Gravity.”

Jaimie Goodwin is one of the best contemporary girls to ever appeared on the show. With that said, except for one routine her run was really mediocre. She was part of the legendary season 3, where she was paired with B-Boy Hok Konishi and together they danced a total of five routines. Four of their five routines involved a Shane Sparks hip hop, a Jean Marc's samba, a Toni Redpath's samba and a Tyce Diorio broadway, where all of them ranged from meh to mediocre. During the third however, they danced a Wade Robson jazz to the Chairman's Waltz which is arguably the best routine to ever be created in any iteration of sytycd, so Jaimie will always have that. After making the top 10 and outlasting much more capable dancers, Jaimie was paired with Dominic Sandoval where they danced a Toni Redpath Viennese waltz, which is arguably one of the worst routines to ever be created in any iteration of sytycd, so Jaimie will always have that :* .

The Chairman's Waltz is brilliant and one of my favorite routines ever. It's unfortunate that the rest of Jaimie's run was pretty bad. :(

Andrew has until 1 AM to post his write-up tonight or he needs to wait until after the reboot. (!)

Since this post will be deleted, I’m just using it to say that The Chairman Waltz is one of the most overrated routines across the series as a whole. :*

GOOD THING THIS BAD TAKE WILL BE DELETED SO YOU DON'T SMUDGE YOUR ALREADY TARNISHED SYTYCD REPUTATION.

If we are posting Hot Takes that are going to get deleted and since I know both Diana and Amanda are here, as a TRUE TAYLOR SWIFT STAN I saw CATS! yesterday. And it was not really bad. More like just like regular mediocre with a huge dash of CGI Weirdness.

We need a "Pre-Taped Continuity Errors in SYTYCD" Rankdown next.

My winner pick will be Tanisha's chair changing colours mid-jump in the Bang Bang group number.

I don't remember this but moments like this crack me up. :haha:

That happened? :'(

Maybe the reboot will delete that moment ever happening?

I always remember the Season 9 Mad Men Top 20 routine where Alexa was carrying different hairstyles throughout the whole routine :haha:
