I HATED FOX IDOL HATED IT.

 

Ryan was treated like crap by Simon, the contestants were kept out of the media/news for the most part and couldn't even interact online with fans!


ABC IDOL FOR THE WIN. I'll go a step further.

 

Katy, Luke, and Lionel were better together as a unit than Paula, Simon, and Randy.

 

Now Paula is amazing but half the time I swear she was on drugs or something. Or Nigel did something to her. (Well that may prove true because he's been accused of sex allegations.)

The contestants were constantly on talk shows after their eliminations during Idol’s heyday. After the finale, it was like a week straight of the top two doing the talk show rounds.

 

During the inaugural season, the finalists had blogs on the Idol website that they updated regularly and talked to fans on.

 

I’ll give you that the show took a while to embrace social media (mostly because of Nigel), but from S13 on, they were allowed to keep their profiles active.

Never thought of a take quite like this (maybe it's because the show was more popular/had more interviews and a tour so it looked like the contestants got more attention,) but I totally get it. I just wish ABC could have access to that level of support.

 

I'm watching through S4 right now, and it's simply awkward sometimes...What you said about Ryan, and knowing Simon is gonna get booed even if 85% of the audience hates the person. Plus, could you imagine if someone like Elleigh Marie got cut out entirely just so they could mock some self-righteous garbage singer in the auditions? But I guess that was the showy part of 2000's RTV.

Oh and FOX Idol did have things like merchandise and video games. So I can't fault them there. Lol

THEY HAD BLOGS? Ugh. See this is why official websites are a dying art. Everyone is relying too much on social media to promo anything. 

 

I guess I have nostalgic vibes for FOX Idol. I have been watching since I was 16!

 

But it doesn't have rewatch ability like ABC Idol does imo. If that makes sense. lol

This is the easiest way for people to find you, and at that point why would you make your own page? Unless you did something real cool with Wix or whatever...But the fact that links don't even work on IG posts probably doesn't help.
