  1. Dana seems like the type of contestant to open the playoffs (team frontrunner, energetic performer) Neither Cam nor Kenzie has closed an episode yet, so it’s possible that one of them will close this round (I’m leaning towards Cam at the moment because he has potential to give a performance with a bigger impact)
  2. Will Champlin. Went from losing his battle and knockout to four-chair turns to getting saved by Adam in playoffs. From there, he was really good and consistent throughout the lives and managed to outlast his battle and knockout partners to make the finale. Chris Jamison is another example as he was a risky save, but it paid off because he managed to have some really good performances in Lives and make finale
  3. If I remembered his performance, I would include this as well. Caroline’s Knockout was her best performance on the show and George was Ceelo’s thirst trap (which were more common in earlier seasons)
  4. Team Kelly 1. Kenzie Wheeler (Only country artist left, pimped in prelives, likely to deliver live. He’s definitely making the finale) 2. Corey Ward (gotten better producer treatment than others, also has been very good each round) 3. Gihanna Zoe (Her KO was a breakout moment, and could deliver a good PO. About even with Zae here) 4. Zae Romeo (Shortclipped battle and also stolen from a less stacked team. His playoff could be good, but he might be overshadowed by other team members. About even with Gihanna though) 5. Savanna Woods (4WKO, Minivan doesn’t seem to like her that much) Team Nick 1. Dana Monique (best producer treatment, could get PV but will be saved by Nick if she needs it) 2. Rachel Mac (potential dark horse, though we need to see if she does well live) 3. Andrew Marshall (Nick seems to like him and he has an underdog arc, which could help, but he’s likely not making SF) 4. Jose Figueroa Jr (Declined the most on the team, his KO was montaged and many people praised Awari in battles over him) 5. Devan Blake Jones (4WKO, also seems like a fodder) Team John 1. Zania Alake (Seems to be the most vocally impressive from the team, also most consistent) 2. Victor Solomon (John will save him, but he has declined from his audition. He needs a performance like his audition to get PV) 3. Pia Renee (Could have another good performance, but she hasn’t been consistent in the competition. Also with Zania likely getting PV, lowers her chance at a save) 4. Ryleigh Modig (Not very popular with the demographic, but has had some good performances) 5. Carolina Rial (Her KO was positively received for a 4WKO, but doesn’t seem like she will go far in the lives, even on Team John) Team Blake 1. Cam Anthony (Blake loves unexpected artists that pick him and he seems to be loved by the casuals. Also got very positive feedback on FB. Helps that his early threats are gone) 2. Pete Mroz (Will most likely give a solid performance, and he could get the Blake save due to connection) 3. Jordan Matthew Young (Not very well received in prelives, especially compared to other singers like him, but he could win the WC if he steps it up) 4. Anna Grace (Blake steals rarely advance, even if they are good. I don’t see the public taking to her as much as the first 3) 5. Emma Caroline (4WKO winner, also seems to be the least experienced, so she could struggle live)
  5. He gave him a C- for O Holy Night in the finale. The same thing with Ali Caldwell with 9 to 5. He also loved Kimberly Nichole and Jacque Lee. Even though he would grade his favorites higher, he knew when they had a dud. Even then, he wouldn’t grade decent performances very low, and wouldn’t give bad performances good scores (B- was pretty good for Slezak, but when a contestant who consistently got A’s slipped down there, you knew it was one of their weakest). Slezak’s grading started in playoffs usually, unlike Mason. And IDF usually liked the contestants he was biased towards (unlike Mason) I think his harsher scale also made it more forgivable if you didn’t completely agree with a grade.
  6. Knowing what the original version of the song sounds like, it’s understandable. (He also gave Tyke a D)
  7. Dave Moisan’s Like I Can (S11) has 3 likes and 4 dislikes on a reupload. He had good audition and battle performances, but flopped hard in the Knockouts. I would say it’s one of the worst Knockout performances in the history of the show. His knockout partner, Simone Gundy, easily won that
  8. I would specifically rewatch the battle for him because he was excellent, and I don’t remember how Gigi sounded
  9. That’s one of my least favorite battles I have watched. I didn’t like Levi but he easily won that battle As for Ayanna, I would have given that an F. It was the worst Live performance that season and proved why the comeback stage was a failure, but Charlie Mason didn’t give any performance an F that season (he gave a D- to Reagan’s Semifinal IS and Keith’s Playoff though)
  10. Voted. Didn’t care who won in half of these
  11. He gave Shane Q’s Caribbean Queen an F (well deserved) and Dylan Hartigan got an F in one of his playoffs and Jarred Matthew in his shortclipped battle. Don’t remember many others though
  12. Even the grades I disagree with are about half a grade within what I would give (If I would rate a B performance a B+ it’s still close enough in my book). Not like when Charlie is more than a full grade off sometimes
  13. Very excited for this thread. Can’t wait for better grades than Charlie Mason and more interesting commentary (I miss the Slezak days of Tvline. His reviews were very interesting in terms of his writing and the original ranking reminded me of these). Also curious to how harsh/easy your scale will be (Slezak gave less A’s than Charlie, but he also had way less head-scratching grades)
  14. They won their battle against a contestant featured in the premiere
  15. Based on their body of work so far 1. Cam Anthony 2. Corey Ward 3. Zania Alake 4. Dana Monique 5. Zae Romeo 6. Rachel Mac 7. Savanna Woods 8. Kenzie Wheeler 9. Pete Mroz 10. Gihanna Zoe 11. Anna Grace 12. Victor Solomon 13. Pia Renee 14. Ryleigh Modig 15. Andrew Marshall 16. Jordan Matthew Young 17. Jose Figueroa Jr 18. Carolina Rial 19. Devan Blake Jones 20. Emma Caroline Conclusions: I like most of these acts and Team Kelly is very stacked
  16. Male winners that closed the Semifinals
  17. Some that weren’t mentioned Noah Mac vs Jeremiah Miller Jacquie Lee vs Anthony Paul Jim Ranger vs JusJon Brooke Simpson vs Stephan Marcellus Davon Fleming vs Eric Lyn Jeffery Austin vs Kota Wade Dana Monique vs Keegan Ferrell
  18. It’s been a while since we got a contestant like Corey on the show. Hopefully he does well in the Lives (and I think he has a good shot at the T9)
  19. Hi MJ! I had been following for a while so I knew this was you. This season has been the best in a while so it really got me to want to join (btw, I was also a fan of some of your other favorites the last few seasons)
  20. Season 12- Caroline Sky was speculated to get Gwen’s steal over Quizz Swanigan Season 11- Michael Sanchez was speculated to beat Sarayah in the Knockout until the day of the performances (They leaked it that weekend too, so I was definitely expecting that result based on the performances). S11 also mixed up Josh G and Josh H (they thought Josh G got his Miley and Alicia steals) and it was speculated early on that Charity Bowden (a double montaged battle eliminee) made lives Season 14- No Knockout pairings (and results) were known
  21. I agree with many names that have already been said, but I would add Will Champlin
  22. Season 20. I like almost everyone in the Top 17 this year
  23. Today is a fitting day to add me because it is Zae’s birthday. Been a fan since the blinds
  24. Thanks so much. I got it around S13 so I have gained a lot of new favorites during that time. You can basically use the checklist to determine who I will like most on the show, and they have checked many boxes here (Mainly the Top 3 boxes)
