I began tracking the Top 12 on TikTok on September 22. Huntley has gained a lot of followers and likes, especially considering he has only uploaded seven new videos and has removed one video since I first checked his account.

But man, Come Up to the House is brutal. Tom´s voice sounds huge on it, and all that gravel can definitely apply to Huntley too. No need for rearranging, same key as well, just let him do it and he´ll do wonders.

It's funny, Huntley's grit and power is so undeniable and on full display the two times we've seen him so far, but there's something about his presence that doesn't feel as alienatingly intense as his voice suggest, if that makes sense? He's kind of a teddy bear, on and off the stage, and I appreciate that mismatch.

 

I also love how full and round his tone is despite how gritty it is. It makes the belts he does so much more pleasing to the ears. I hope the Voice BTS coaches are teaching him how to take care of his voice, especially once the Lives start and the filming process gets more gruelling.

 

 

 

Just reposting on a new page to comment on how glowing the coaches's praise for Huntley was. And the standing ovation was great to see. Hope Huntley keeps the standings O's coming in the next rounds.

I like it when we can find songs for artists that they can just sing straight and it will still make sense for the artist covering it.

It's also worth mentioning that Huntley has the largest margin of victory over his battle partner this season according to @Dany's Voice app data. The audience really loves him. I hope that's a sign of good things to come.

The match: Huntley vs. Brailey Lenderman

The song: "Hold My Hand" by Hootie & The Blowfish

The background: Brailey, 33, of Rosswell, Ga., turned two chairs in the blinds. Huntley, 33, of Spring Hill, Fla., turned four.

The feedback: Gwen Stefani called it "amazing" and said she's worried Huntley "might win the show." She gave him the edge. John Legend called Brailey "powerful," but complimented Huntley on the crackle in his voice and the magnetism he brought to the stage. Reba McEntire called Huntley a "force of nature" on stage.

The decision: Niall declared Huntley the winner, Brailey was eliminated.

My take: Huntley won me over with his raspy opening line. And continued to impress with his stage presence and command of the performance. Brailey, as in her audition, turned in an impressive vocal. She just ran into a powerhouse opponent.

Special Note: No steals remained when this battle was filmed.

The funny exchange starting at 4:46 between mega mentor Wynonna Judd and Huntley prompted FloorWax to post this video in another thread. Huntley's knockout rehearsal must have impressed the country star, because she made a "very serious" offer to do harmony for Huntley if he calls her in the future!

CONGRATS HUNTLEY ON WINNING YOUR KO!

Could his song choice be cooler/modern? Sure. But damn it if he didn't sing the heck out of this. I appreciate that the band tried to grunge the arrangement up a bit. He may be singing in one gear throughout his performances so far, but he sounds amazing doing it. And America seems to agree.

 

That being said, I really hope his next song is more plaintive and emotional. Let's see a different side to that gruff voice. I know he can do emotional stuff, I've heard some of his originals on the various streams that he did over the years, and they're good. Or maybe change the genre up a little and do some reggae.

Virginian Huntley has been another standout on Team Niall since the very beginning. His audition singing The Black Crowes’ “She Talks to Angels” earned him a four-chair turn and has had ears perked since, but after his Knockout showdown, Niall doesn’t seem to be willing to let him go anytime soon.

Yeah you can add me. 3 rounds in a row he's given one of the best vocals everytime. Incredibly powerful and distinct voice.

 

Would like to hear him sing something more Ballad-y to switch it up
