HO-OH

Ho-Oh is a Legendary Pokémon and the mascot of the Pokémon Gold and Pokémon HeartGold games. Ho-Oh is a Gen II Pokémon, but Pokémon fans first got a glimpse of Ho-Oh in the premiere episode of the Pokémon series. Ash and Pikachu saw it flying by a rainbow in the sky after a storm, but it wouldn’t be until much later in Johto when Ash and the viewers learned Ho-Oh’s name. Classified as the Rainbow Pokémon, Ho-oh is a dual Fire and Flying type that resembles a phoenix and a peacock. According to the Pokédex, Ho-Oh will fly around the world with its rainbow colored wings. It is said that those who catch a glimpse of Ho-Oh will have eternal happiness. As a Legendary Pokémon, it’s strong in battle. It has high stats all around, with Attack and Special Defense as its highest stats. I do like Ho-Oh, and apologies to any other fans for the cut.

Bayleef

I believe that although Meganium is the final evolution, Bayleef got more screentime in the Pokemon anime and therefore became more popular. Popular enough to somehow escape Derek's massacre of middle evolutions and make the Top 150. Famously, Bayleef had a crush on Ash. That's neat. Anyway, in my original playthrough of Gen II I actually chose Chikorita so I have much more attachment to Meganium. Also it's the only Pokemon that has "Megan" in its name. And though I've become more fond of the Cyndaquil line culminating with the fact that I have them all on my work desk, Meganium was the Pokemon I wanted to save the most in these noms. And since Meganium survived I felt I could cut Bayleef. Anyway, Bayleef is the middle member of the Gen II Grass-starter line and evolves from Chikorita at level 16 and evolves into Meganium at level 32. But it will always have its anime driven popularity.

Mudkip

meme king mudskipper. I’m correcting nothing because I’m typing this as fast as possible since Kansas has shit cell service. It’s just barely better than the mountains. Anyway nudkop is > treecko but inferior to torchic. It’s water. It’s Gen iii. Do I get an extra title when I cut 40% of Gen iii. Who knows. Probably not. But does that stop me? Well in this case I have no choice. It’s the starter for Gen iii if you choose it. It eventually evolves into swamped. Swamp wet is better than sceptile but worse than the fire fighting rooster Blaziken. But they are all bad. Nudkop. Solidly worst.

1) i added a picture

2) my phone did not spell mudkip right once except for the name.

Lugia

Lugia GIF by Pokémon - Find & Share on GIPHY

I think I prefer Ho-Oh, but Lugia is pretty great! They're the mascot of Pokemon Silver and Soulsilver and are psychic and flying type. I always think that Lugia is part water due to its association with water (this gif, it being found in the whirl islands, etc.), but Psychic works as well. Lugia has had multiple roles in the anime, each time a different individual, I think? There's the guardian Lugia in the second anime movie, and then a mother/child duo, which I guess proves that not all legends are singular deities. Lugia has great defense (both), speed, and HP, while still having good attack stats as well! Lugia was apparently created specifically for the second movie, with their creator, Takeshi Shudo, being surprised to see them reappear in the games. Anyways, I quite like Lugia, but this stage of the game requires that even great Pokemon be cut so sorry to Lugia and fans!

Originally you were all supposed to submit a list of 20 Pokemon where I would have gathered the most popular 120 Pokemon and randomized them in every battle. Then the winner of the battle would have decided from the nominated Pokemon who was save and cut. Thats the reason Pokeball and X Speed were not allowed.

But then I miscalculated how many Pokemon were left and almost all Pokemon were going to be in danger. Also the chaos would have been major. So I changed in the end. But when I made the change you all had already spend all of your money so I left the rules in place.

End of my Ted talk :haha:

Gastly

Aerokinetic Shapeshifting | Superpower Wiki | Fandom

Gastly is the OG ghost pokemon.  He is a poison and ghost type pokemon.  I was avoiding cutting this line as I figured Dee would come back eventually, but the further in we get the less I see him coming back.  At least he still has haunter and Gengar in the game!  Gastly can be caught in Lavender town when you have the silph scope (?), I don't remember its exact name. I always caught one,  but I never used it, because Ghost type pokemon were bad in Gen 1.  a psychic type (which is was supposed to be used against), was also strong against it.  So like, sorry Sabrina would consistently own a Gastly I brought into battle.

Skarmory

Will come up with a gif of Skarmory after I get my samples spun down!

Skarmory was cool until Corviknight came and replaced it. Now it has to settle for being the original but less cool steel bird. I was never a huge fan of Skarmory because really aside from Lapras I am the cumbersome hashtag #TeamPokemonThatCanEvolveorHaveEvolved and Skarmory does neither. It seems like one of those Pokemon that's ripe for a Mega Evolution but it doesn't have one of those either! That kind of leaves Skarmory in a desert all its own. Since it doesn't evolve and you can get it pretty early it does have good stats for early to mid-game but its absurd defense doesn't really make for how mediocre everything else is especially with a special defense of 70 and its only weaknesses being electric and fire which feel very "special attack" oriented. It's abilities are so so. Unfortunately for Skarmory it's just been supplanted by the much more well-rounded Corviknight.

Lillipup

Lillipup | Legends of the Multi Universe Wiki | Fandom

This pokemon is adorable, but HOW did it get this far in the rankdown?  Its one of those generic normal pokemon that is thrown in your first route of the game just give you a pokemon on your team.  Its got nothing to it!  It has bad stats for a baby pokemon, a bad move set, and the only thing it has going for it is the normal typing, which makes it only weak to fighting.  Anyway Lillipup is a Gen 5 pokemon and it evolves into Herdier at level 16 and into Stouland at 32.  I know I oofed at the Gen 5 stats when Rei posted them earlier, but there is still fodder amongst their ranks.  It really was not a great generation for new pokemon.  Stoutland is still in.... so Good-bye!

Flareon

I am on the outskirts of Phoenix so this will be as good a chance as any to do this write up because between here and New Mexico cell service becomes even shoddier. I don’t want to cut Flareon. But every other Pokémon I would have cut has already been cut or saved. And then there were two pages of negotiating which proceeded without me. So a lot of people got their feelings respected while mine were disregarded. Which is cool. And then others wanted me to do this cut/save earlier to keep this round moving along even though I’ll be largely with spotty cell service until tonight first and then tomorrow night. But whatever. At least when I’m gone I don’t make the game stop for 2-3 whole days.

Flareon is like my #5 Eeveelution but the gap between 5 and 6 is pretty steep. It’s one of the three OG Eeveelutions having been introduced in Gen I. In those games you get an Eevee from Bill who is stuck in a hybrid Pokemon/Human form in what is a callback to the 80s body horror movie the fly. Once you save him he gives you Eevee. You can then buy a Fire Stone in I believe Celadon City’s large department store. I can’t really Google right now. I think Flareon like all the Eeveelutions has a BST of over 500. Something pretty good. I can’t look up any specifics.

Anyway, Flareon shouldn’t be the first Eeveelution cut. But other people got here first. So now I’m left cutting one of my favorites to save another one of my favorites. So that sucks.
