In preparation for my round (and even if you aren't playing) everyone needs to listen to the best break-up album of 2020, Gaslighter!

Really, it's one of the best break-up albums, period.

The lead single being called Gaslighter and being written about Natalie Maines’ ex-husband’s failure to get a court order that he had final approval of all of her songs?

Truly the level of pettiness I aspire to be.

The video is far better than the song itself, imo. :haha:

Sleep at Night and Texas Man are my favourites, I think.

March March and Hope It’s Something Good are mine after first listen. Texas Man is great too

and of course the title track

A beautiful song with a universal message of battling insecurities and hoping that love still finds you and accepts you for being a flawed human. One of my faves.

Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie deserves more songs in the final vote! #JusticeForAreYouStillMad

That I Would Be Good is a song I really enjoyed from this album (obviously), and the lyrics of yearning are really accentuated in her vocal performance! That said, if the complaint over SFIJ is that it's too long, this is one of the songs i would've been fine with cutting, so I'm ranking it here.

The melody and lyrics of this song are stunning, a standout from SFIJ. 4.5/5

Right Through You is such a badass song. A song that perfectly explains the intentions of sleazy men in power and how women are just sexual objects in their eyes. A voice for all the women with talent, with something to say, with creativity, with ideas, with a name, with humanity, that are simply not seen for who they are! A flawless track that really deserves this high ranking.

Ugh, I love this song so much and hate that I can only put at #9. :/ Right Through You, I feel, perhaps best showcases the absolute skill with this album in terms of combining mid-tempo, softer spoken lyrics with the heavy guitar riffs that you wouldn't expect. Queen of inventing a new type of alternative rock, tbh.

Great song, but one of my lesser favorites off of Jagged Little Pill.

All I Really Want is one of my favorite songs of all-time, so ranking it seventh feels very, very strange. LOL. The harmonica! The grunge guitars! The insane vocals! This song is proof of her lyrical genius! F*ck this song is so damn perfect and amazing. A song about the constrictive and frustrating natures of relationships where your partner is not fulfilling your soul and your intellect. The suffocating nature of being stuck with somebody that is simply superficial and shallow. UGH. So happy to see this song crack the Top 10.

All I Really Want kicks off my top ten. I hated having to rank this song so low, but there's so many good songs in this ranking. 😭 Anyway, All I Really Want is one of the most iconic and recognizable opening tracks, showing us right away that Alanis didn’t come to play with her feelings. She said the song was inspired by the miserable time she had with MCA Records Canada, with one of the song’s verses (And all I need now is intellectual intercourse/A soul to dig the hole much deeper/And I have no concept of time other than it is flying/If only I could kill the killer) being directly pointed towards them. :giggle: For most of the 90s, it was the opening song on her tours, which seems fitting all things considered. I'm also expecting Andy to be the one person who says more about this song than me since I think it's his favourite?

Not my favourite from Jagged Little Pill but it’s still flawless.

This one falls pretty solidly in the middle for me. It’s one I always enjoy when it comes on, but not one I actively seek out like some of the others above it.

Fun fact: Crazy In Love won with a final average of 6.000. The top four of this round all have lower final averages than that!

Wow crazinesss. :omg:
