Hmmm seems like a lot of generic songs that are staples to the Idol/singing competition songbook. Alyssa singing "I Will Survive" is particularly sending me 💀 Going to give the artists the benefit of the doubt until I fully look into them...

Also along those lines, two contestants are singing,  “It’s A Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World.”

I hope that’s a typo.

Way too many songs that have been performed over and over again on singing shows.

You can think you are the greatest singer (even though there is no such thing), but the music industry is looking for new talent.

Alejandro, Catie Turner, Haven Madison were signed on the strength of their song writing.  Gabby Barrett, Lauren Spencer Smith, Benson Boone had huge first singles - which they help write.

We don’t know what the rules were for the round.

I have noticed that the first audition tends to get a lot of originals, and then later on, but in HW there just aren’t as many.

It may have to do with there being an audience for showcase. It’s a lot harder to get the crowd going with a completely unfamiliar song.

Honestly this song list is better than I was expecting lol. At least there are SOME songs we haven’t heard a million times. It seems like last year’s song choices were much more generic.

But Alyssa, honey… have you learned nothing? I’ll be surprised if she makes the semifinals again.
