When it comes to the cast being more diverse. I feel the contestants are all very samey and very similar. Also feel the winners after the Simon, paula and randy era are forgettable along with most contestants. Simon was part of one of the worse seasons - 9. Post Simon, Scotty McCreery, Phillip Phillips are 2 of the most successful winners. Then there's non-winners Lauren Alaina, Haley Reinhart, Jax, Daniel Seavey, Gabby Barrett, Lauren Spencer Smith. In the ABC era, winner Chayce Beckham made Platinum. m1key Posted November 27, 2023 Share Posted November 27, 2023 (edited) imo the overall Top 20-26 casts have become more diverse as the ABC era has gone on, but the shortened format makes it harder for these contestants to grow on viewers as the competition progresses. the only diverse contestants who make it far are those who are heavily pimped by production. otherwise, we see many of them exit the competition early on in live shows and the Top 10 ends up being majority male, white, and/or country adjacent. the problem is more rooted in the format rather than casting!
