I gave it a B because the best battles were really good, but the bottom few battles dragged it down.

 

Allie is the only eliminee that I liked tonight so easily her

I think Manasseh was  the strongest individual, and I wouldve stolen Allie.

1. Gina vs. Kala (VERY well deserved steal here. Almost dead even)

2. Sorelle vs. Manasseh (both deserved to go through, thankfully)

3. Cait vs. Allie (Allie would've been a deserving steal. Such a solid battle.)
4. Jamar vs. Mariah (Didn't think it suited Mariah super well, but probably my favorite contestant that went home for the night)

5. Walker vs. Kason (Easy win for Walker here.)

6. Tasha vs. EJ (Didn't particularly care for Tasha here, EJ should've won it.)

Maybe it’s because my expectations were literally on the floor lol, but I actually thought Walker was pretty decent, if unexciting on that battle? Kason was uhhhh… rough to say the least lol. He kinda had one small nice part on the bridge though.

6. Walker vs Kason - The vocals weren’t terrible but something about this battle really turned me off. It felt like they just phoned it in and called it a day.

6. Jamar Langley vs Mariah Kalia - As someone who loved Jamar’s audition and reasonably liked Mariah’s, this was a disppointment from both. I’d pick Jamar not because I liked him but because I actively disliked what Mariah was doing.

5. Walker Wilson vs Kason Lester - This went about how I expected. Walker sang the song well and it fit his tone like a glove. Meanwhile, Kason somehow sounded even worse than in his audition.

 

4. EJ Michels vs Tasha Jessen - Honestly still baffled why Blake chose Tasha in this matchup. She sounds unpolished to me, just like in her audition. EJ, besides flubbing a couple of the big notes, sounded great imo. His range is very impressive. 

3. Cait Martin vs Allie Keck - I actually liked Allie a litte more in the beginning but as the song picked up, Cait stood out a lot more. Allie deserved a steal though.

 

2. Gina Miles vs Kala Banham - Both ladies did excellent but Gina is the clear winner for me. Her lower register is just gorgeous and her tone cuts through even while harmonizing. Kala is a very deserving steal though!

1. Sorelle vs Manasseh Samone - The reason I put them above Gina vs Kala is because I feel like we get a battle of two indie girls with pretty tones every other season. This, however, was something else. They are dead even for me and you can make a very strong argument for advancing either act.

Unexpectedly ended up being my favorite of the night.

Winner killed it, opponent really brought it down.

Pretty boring, honestly. Jamar had some good parts, Mariah downgraded from her blind. Disappointing.

I’d rate this an A- because even the battle I liked the least had a few good moments (and the rest went from “solid but a touch sleepy” to “oh wow this is excellent”).

 

Allie was the only one who wasn’t stolen that I would’ve considered stealing, so I voted for her (especially as this felt like a major step up from her audition, which was decent to begin with). That said, the only battle outcome I disagreed with was Manesseh vs. Sorelle — I would’ve still used the Playoffs Pass there, but I would’ve just swapped who got which result.
