Each coach gets one person, so you need someone from team John (Victor) and someone from team Nick, who will be female. However it is distinctly possible that we get another top 5 with only one woman

Sometimes doing a song out of your lane, gives you a leg up if you're able to make it into your lane, it turns it into something unexpected and shows artistry. Also when guys cover female songs and vice versa. I think it might actually be interesting to see Cam cover Ariana (except they've already done POV this season) It might be interesting to see Cam cover something by the weeknd too, but while I think it would be good to show he could be a current radio contemporary artist (for his career purposes), I think it would backfire with the audience.

I think everyone who follows the voice, including mj, the coaches, idf, is conditioned to lean towards the country singer as the winner (see also earlier in this thread, and Blake’s comments on Kelly). With iTunes now being gone, it’s only idf though that obsessively tracks enough obscure stats in season to realize that Kenzie might not be resonating as much as one would expect (also we could be wrong).

Jordan auditioned with a country song (that he has a cover of on his ig), and regularly does country as part of his live sets. I don’t think they are “making him go country”. He’s a roots artist, country is part of that. Old school country also isn’t one type of country Cash, Haggard are also classic country. Rose colored glasses is one type of classic country. That said, while I like the song, I don’t like it for Jordan. He’s not really a ballad singer. As Audra said though, it’s all about the IS anyways.

I really wonder if victor is the Chris K of this season. I think we might be underestimating the amount of support he’s getting from his community.

Sturgill is current but he’s not “modern”. Country is roots music, and has a lot of blues in its old stuff. Cash would be another possibility. glad he’s excited, it’s cool to see some instrumentation on the voice

If he’s going to do country, he could do some Church, Sturgil, Isbel/drive by truckers (not cover me up), or whatever. Country doesn’t have to mean Alan Jackson style. Here’s a potentially interesting one, based on his ig Jordan is a charley pride fan (and just saying Jordan does country as part of his normal live set, it’s not a novelty thing, even though I don’t think it’s his natural lane)

It reads that way, but it didn’t really come across that way. He basically was saying he owned not being prepared enough. I think it was some amount of over confidence, but also really not liking the song.

My only thought is he knew his numbers were better then Jordan and Anna’s (I don’t remember if they were or not), and assumed Blake would pick him . Not that the coaches know the social media stats. I can’t imagine he thought he was getting the vote over cam.

In his live today, Pete said he’d been looking at numbers and thought he was going through, so he didn’t know speechless. but yeah in the past you have one IS song, and it doesn’t change unless you use it

Per Saweetie, they’re performing “slow clap” on a tv show. And saweetie was also on set today. So I’ll bet you a lot that they’re performing on the voice, and were filming it today.

Jordan did classic country for his blind, and it didn’t go over very well. It just doesn’t fit him. He’s much better/at home in the southern rock/blues country lane. I think going back to class country would backfire.

That’s interesting that they didn’t do in person coaching. I know there aren’t intro packages, but I’m pretty sure they used to still do in person coaching that week

Katy reportedly gets paid a ridiculous amount of money, idols ratings aren’t exactly anything to write home about, and yet the show seems to be making enough money abc keeps renewing it. There is clearly money to be made somewhere

They usually do about 6 weeks of lives in fall seasons. That’s what they did in season 17. 19 started later, at least theoretically in part bc of the pandemic. I would imagine it would be roughly the same in s21 as s17

Not sure where a longer show is going to happen. Only so many weeks between mid-September and mid-December

I don’t think it’s because of idol, the spring seasons have felt like an afterthought for the last few seasons. With having mondays/tuesdays in the fall we’ll be back to a regular season for season 21, which is great. And I do think it will keep the show fresh, 40 shows a year is a lot. But I’m definitely going to suffer withdrawal in the spring

It could just be an older country song that Kelly knows Blake likes. Blake likes covering other peoples songs more then his own. That said, Blake has several songs he could cover...but I don’t think Kenzie would sound great on GC, and Rose ended that song.
