In honour of Tina, thought I would list all the Tina Turner covers done on the voice.

 

Who do you think has the best Tina Turner cover?

 

Courtney Harrell - river deep - mountain high

Dana Monique - nut bush city limits

Kimberly Nichole - nut bush city limits

Luna Searles (no chair turn) - nutbush city limits

Joei Fulco vs Todd Michael Hall - simply the best

Desz - what's love got to do with it

Peedy Chavis - proud Mary

Michelle Brooks Thompson - proud mary

Billy Gillman (group performance) - proud mary

Hannah Kirby- we don't need another hero

Britton Buchanon - what's love got to do with it

Sissuandra Lewis- River deep - mountain high.

Samara brown - the best

 

Not gonna make a poll just yet until I make sure I didnt missed anyone, am I missing any performances?

It was montaged but Ryan Whyte Maloney and Cali Tucker sang what’s love got to do with it, but Kimberly takes this one for me. She was flawless.

It's always the older season performances I miss, I'll add that to the list amd eventual poll. Just gonna wait a bit if anyone mentions any other covers missing.

 

Edit: nvm  I thought you were talking about Michelle Chamuel doing this song on TV, not the Michelle I alrdy have on the list lol.

I'd love to listen to a better version of We Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome) on the show. Hannah Kirby was ok, but it was quite pale.

RIP Queen my favorite is probably Kims "I Cant Stand the Rain", but since that's not a Tina Turner original and it's just a cover, i'll say Courtney Harrell and Sisaundra Lewis' "River Deep Mountain High"

Havent really liked any of the Proud Mary performances on the show. And even that, it's a CCR song.

 

But speaking of covers, do yourselves a favor and listen to her version of the The Acid Queen by the Who (on the Tommy movie, one of the few good parts of that film lol).

Unbelievable, has to be one of the best no chair turns in TV history no?

 

Usually the voice US is justified with the no chair turns (unlike AU...) but Luna was better than your average audition that makes it through.

Damn I didn't know Tina turner didn't originally sing proud mary! 

 

I think Michelle does her version though (unlike Kim's I can't stand the rain) so I may include it.

Also not sure if this is unpopular, but although I looooove Kimberly I prefer Dana’s version of Nutbush?

 

Nothing wrong with Kimberly’s but the grit that Dana infused plus the way she just went all out sold it more for me.

There is now a poll now that we've compiled hopefully all Tina turner covers!

 

I contemplated on whether to add some of the proud mary versions but ultimately did, Michelle and S11 group performance seem to have done the Tina version anyways with the trumpets and background singers... Nutbush is one of Kimberly's weaker performances tbh. While Dana gave everything vocally in her KO. Probably her best performance after  "free your mind"

That's the only Courtney performance I liked 

 

I think your actual answer here is that the poll wasn't made until later, so the votes aren't really representative

 

Maybe you're just talking about personal preference, but I didn't think she was way better than Dana?
