Compilation of the 42 Dancers in the Choreo Round (SPOILER: and the results)

Season 17 of SYTYCD had only three audition episodes. At the end of the third episode, they revealed that only 42 dancers got a callback. They are calling it the Choreography Round. In the audition episodes, they showed on the screen 27 different dancers who made the Choreography Round. And by that I mean they showed the dancer's name on the screen with a clear shot of their faces. There may be more that were showed in the background that they did not yet acknowledge.

Or maybe they were, it's hard to identify people from this lol. But I do recognize two dancers:

 

• Tristan Sosa is there. He's the third ballroom sibling to Stephanie and Ezra. I think he's older than the other two. He has auditioned for SYTYCD before.
• Sage Rosen is also there. He auditioned as a kid for SYTYCD Season 13, and he was one of the pros for DWTS Junior. He was Kenzie Ziegler's partner.

 

I guess I need to start checking Instagram likes and follows to see if I can find any of these other people. If you recognize anyone, please post!

Konnor Kelly is the only one that is a “JC-type” dancer but I’m too old to like twinks now, why isn’t there an older man hot guy?? Hopefully he just was not shown and will be a dark horse and surprise us all!

Here's my list of the girls and boys in the order from "most confident they will make the Top 12" to "least confident they will make the Top 12"

 

1. Essence - She was heavily featured and is the only hip hop girl

2. Alexis - She knows Ezra very well (Ezra and JoJo are BFFs from the DWTS tour, check instagram), she was on the DWTS tour

3. Camila - with DWTS, Derek Hough Tours/Vegas, Chmerkovskiy tours... ballroom remains a very successful genre to go into and I predict that they will try to invest in the SYTYCD ballroom people this year

4. Anna

5. Jordan - rooting for her because I love good Jazz dancers and they have been starting to show her more

6. Mia - something about the way they have been showing her makes me think she'll get in

7. Jojo - rooting for her

8. Ralyn

9. Virginia

10. Juicy - a lot of contemporary dancers to choose from and she looks similar to Essence

11. Flora - they haven't spent much time featuring her and there are a lot of contemporary dancers

With half of the dancers being cut, if I was one of the other guys and I saw two guys make the Top 6 right off the bat, I'd be like

Also when JoJo "picked" the winner for the season, I'm pretty sure she was just faking and pointed to a dancer they already decided to cut. The photos on the table are split into 12 and 12, and Twitch points at one side and says "the winner is in this 12 right here" and then JoJo "picks" her winner but it is from the other half and the other judges just say "ooo..."

Actually, scratch that. The whole scene was just fluff. The dancer cards on the table never change position from when they're like "okay let's start" to when they say "okay this is it!"

I would like to have JoJo the dancer in the Top 12, but I have Alexis and Camilla to root for so even if JoJo doesn't make it, I have enough girls to root for.

 

I don't really vote for guys as much as I do girls, but I do like Thiago.  I don't think that Beau is going to make it.  He's fun, but fun only gets so far on this show.

Alexis is from Highland, Utah. She started dancing at six years old. Alexis trained at award-winning Center Stage Performing Arts Studio in Orem, Utah. The dance school's alumni include Derek Hough, Julianne Hough, Lindsay Arnold, Witney Carson, Jenna Johnson, Brandon Armstrong, Ezra Sosa, Stephanie Sosa, Tristen Sosa, and Carter Williams.

Alexis appeared on America's Got Talent season 9 in 2014 as dance captain of Center Stage Dance Troupe. Only Mel B voted to advance them. Center Stage returned to AGT season 10 in 2015. Their audition wasn't televised, and the group was eliminated in Judge Cuts.

 

Alexis competed on World of Dance season 2 in 2018 in the Junior Team division. She and Ezra were two of eight members of The Pulse. The Orem-based ballroom dance team was eliminated in the third round, but the competition opened doors for Alexis.

My prediction based on judges comments, screen time, & gut feel:

1. Essence- Lock

2. Alexis- Lock

3. Camila- Lock

4. Anna - high probability

5. Ralyn- high probability

6. Jordan - medium probability

 

*Watching many reality competition shows through the yrs, several contestants each season can make the "Live shows" even w/ little to no screen time. With SYTYCD, Jeanie(s5) & Tiffany(s9) pop up in my head as ones that did the best. However, many others w/ minimal screen time weren't as lucky & got cut very early.
