One of the most tense movies I have ever seen in my life. A really interesting concept and flawlessly executed. Thanks Chris for fighting for it!

Megan

Actually I also really like this movie. So three movies. Also LOL did you know Marion Cotillard is/was a 9/11 truther??????

Chris

Thank you everyone for advancing this for my birthday !

One of the five films I haven't watched so I'm ranking it based on its Metascore of 89

Xavier Dolan is one of the most inconsistent directors alive, but this is his masterpiece. The fantasy sequence with Ludovico Einaudi's "Experience" playing is one of my favorite scenes in film history and had me SOBBING the first time I watched it.

Megan

Quote

I haven't seen this movie. But it has a lower RT rating (which I know is not the end all be all of movie goodness) than the other movie I haven't seen so default.

Captain America is the best trilogy of the MCU

Megan

Quote

A bit default but my 6-7 could basically be interchangeable.

Alex

Quote

Captain America is the worst Marvel character and his movies suck too. The themes and concepts are just beyond elementary. The day we don't have a basic ass Marvel movie in the end here is the day I finally win.

Derek

Quote

The Captain America movies don't really do much for me. Chris is good and the stories are solid but this hero is still very very generic to me.

BRILLIANT. The only other movie that really belonged on this list. Congrats. Two good movies actually made it to our Top 15.

Amazing film

Alex

Amazing concept, they really had me in the first half, but then the movie kept going on and they lost me by the end.

My favorite film of the year and one of my favorite movies ever

Alex

Quote

A thriller about news reporting? Wow talk about a movie made specifically for me! Everyone rightfully talks about how robbed Jake Gyllenhaal was for an Oscar nom, but justice for Riz Ahmed and Rene Russo as well!!!!

Megan

Quote

Overrated. Has always been overrated. I guess since this is like one of Jake Gyllenhaal's good performances (of which he has very few) it's well-liked. I don't like it.

Megan

I actually like this movie. But is it the Top 15 movies of the year? No.

Alex

Quote

I too tanked this a little bit coming off of the Inside Out win 🙈. Disney/Pixar needs to be taken down a peg in this game :kissbye:. I do love the movie a lot though! And don't @ me but the dead older brother is one of the hottest disney characters :ph34rwave:

Derek

Quote

Great movie. Docking it a lot since Inside Out just won

Chris

Quote

I have a feeling it could be the Inside Out of this year so I am just trying to prevent that.

sure why not

Alex

I am an unapologetic Wes Anderson fanboy and there isn't a single one of his films I haven't loved. Tbh Grand Budapest is actually on the lower end of my Wes Anderson list, but a low-tier Anderson film is still at the top of the year.

Rei

Quote

I remember I liked it

Megan

Quote

I'm not like a Wes Anderson hater (Fantastic Mr. Fox is one of my favorite movies) but I am a hater of this movie!

The cool girl monologue invented writing. If Whiplash can't be here because we can't have nice things apparently, I'm glad I got to rank this in first place at least. A masterpiece!

Rei

Quote

She ended Ben Affleck so I naturally stan

Derek

Quote

I honestly don't even listen to podcasts that much but I still managed to be spoiled about Gone Girl from a couple episodes of Criminal.

Megan

Quote

I don't like Ben Affleck. But I also didn't like this movie. It's FINE.

Congrats, at least one good movie of 2014 made it to the finals. This is the one. The good one. I'd have this in my Top 15 movies from this year easily. It's the best "family" movie that has made it to the finals in this entire rankdown. Fewer movies are objectively better than Paddington (one of which being Paddington 2).

Rei

Quote

Paddington 1 & 2 are just cinematic masterpieces

Derek

Quote

Paddington 2 robbed but this is also great. Not mindblowing, but doesn't have any flaws.

Chris

Quote

Winner prediction

Alex

Quote

It's a cute movie I guess? I suppose we're just giving wins to the family friendly movies so this was probably the best option of the year.

LOL at a Paddington win! Chris guessed it but I did not. Nice to see Paddington get some recognition after being disregarded in the full rankdown

I would have carried them to the top 20 had they not been petty cut
