Jemma & Rhys were by far the best original couple of the season proven by the fact that three of their routines made this Top 20. This Paso was amazing and it was just peerfectly danced and performed by Jenna and Rhys. I will always love Paso and Jason always deliver with them

Strong, powerful, fierce, ferious! Just how I love my Paso Dobles. Jemma & Rhys did an amazing job dancing this dance. They brought that intensity, power and attack to this dance. I loved all of their partnering dancing and how they connected. Rhys was so strong and powedrful in the moments he did his own moves and Jemma had a great mix of power & beauty in her movements.

Really gorgeous, stunning and lovely routine from Jemma & Rhys!  They danced and performed it so beautifully. It was (probably) the most memorable routine of Week 1 and it still stands out from this season. Lovely.

Their best routine as a partnership and one of the best routine of the season. I wish this could have cracked the top 5. This came out of nowhere as both were out of their genres, but they just slayed the rest of the competition and solidified them as the best couple of the season. Flawless!!!

This was such a fun, entertaining and full of joy dance here.  This was very out of Jemma & Rhys' comfort zone but I love the fun and naughty characters they brought to the dance. I loved their energy, chemistry and how they danced this dance. Sooo fun!  Also totally here for the song choice too!

Kate having 4/5 of the Top 5 routines though.  Truly the Queen of AU1.

okay, now it's officially time to start getting our side-eyes out for the 20s leftover

LOL not my favorite Rhys/Jemma routines missing the Top 6 over my 3rd favorite routine of theirs. Not surprised with the Paso coming in 8th but I thought their Waltz would have made the Top 5.  

LOL Oh "Break It Off" showed up next.... so nevermind.   OK Actually I am not reallly surprised that these Rhys/Jemma routines were all back to back and close together in rankings here. All 3 dances are fantastic from them but I think what affected them was having so many strong dances where we all have a different favorite amongst them. Like we could all rank these 3 dances differently from amongst each other that it could cause some vote split.

My guess would be Alex's #20 would be for "Give it To Me." Then JC is harder to predict. But I'd guess any dance without Graeme or Henry.

Looking over the rankings, Amanda usurpingly is still doing the best - she only lost one of her Top 5 with her #6 being her lowest rank remaining. Then Rei and Patryk lost two of their Top 7, but 5 of their Top 7 in the Top 5.

Kate was a good dancer but she also benefited from a highly superior group of male dancers. Henry and Graeme were my faves but Jack and Rhys were also superb. And since SYTYCD has been historically heteronormative she was lucky to receive amazingly fabulous male partners guaranteed each week. The first US season was also like this with Melody dominating only for the women.

Kate did have to deal with two rough partners/weeks at the start though.  Although I think her 2nd partner Hilton probably had potential but the dance/connection wasn't really a good match for them.

I do actually agree that the guys > girls this season though. Jack, Henry, and Rhys were the strongest, most consistent dancers of the season with Kate imo.
