The 24s surprised me Wallace - 8/25 Quote I really like the funky, fresh upbeat feel of this song. Megan - 20/25 Quote As the first song with lyrics on The ArchAndroid, this does a lot of work on setting up the tone for the rest of the album. And it does well, I just again don't find it as one of my absolute favorites of this Top 25. 14. Ghetto Woman Album: The Electric Lady (2013) Writers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton Producers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton, Roman GianArthur https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Electric_Lady Listen on YouTube Wallace - 7/25 Victoria - 9/25 Derek - 9/25 Tom - 13/25 Diana - 15/25 Lily - 16/25 Megan - 18/25 Nico - 20/25 Andy - 23/25 Final Average = 14.44 / 25 Wallace - 7/25 Quote "Ghetto Woman" is a really fun, cute, infectious song. I love the music production and how Janelle's vocals go with it. Really fun song! Derek - 9/25 Quote FUNK Andy - 23/25 Quote Love the message, boring song 13. Oh, Maker Album: The ArchAndroid (2010) Writers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton Producers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_ArchAndroid Listen on YouTube Tom - 6/25 Nico - 6/25 Megan - 9/25 Diana - 12/25 Derek - 14/25 Andy - 16/25 Victoria - 19/25 Lily - 21/25 Wallace - 22/25 Final Average = 13.88 / 25 Derek - 14/25 Quote Kind of subdued for me but gives her room to do her thing toward the end Andy - 16/25 Quote Very pretty Wallace - 22/25 Quote This song has has an interesting and cool sound to it. I especially love how she showcases her range in the chorus. 12. Givin’ Em What They Love (feat. Prince) Album: The Electric Lady (2013) Writers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton, Terrence Brown Producers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton, Roman GianArthur https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Electric_Lady Listen on YouTube Victoria - 2/25 Diana - 6/25 Megan - 7/25 Wallace - 9/25 Derek - 16/25 Nico - 17/25 Tom - 18/25 Lily - 19/25 Andy - 25/25 Final Average = 13.22 / 25 Megan - 7/25 Quote Janelle and Prince is such a dream collaboration. Two artists that have spent their entire careers being incredibly sexy and f*cking with gender norms. Love it. This collaboration does not disappoint. Wallace - 9/25 Quote Love the fierce, funky and angry sound of this song. Janelle brings great attitude here. Plus, having Prince as a featured artist makes this a great extra bonus. Really enjoy what Prince brings to this too. Derek - 16/25 Quote It's fun. I like the wailing at the end of course Andy - 25/25 Quote Love me some Prince but the melody of the song just bothers me for some reason 11. I Like That Album: Dirty Computer (2018) Writers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton, Tayla Parx, Organized Noize Producers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton, Organized Noize https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Like_That_(Janelle_Monáe_song) Listen on YouTube Diana - 2/25 Nico - 10/25 Lily - 12/25 Victoria - 12/25 Tom - 14/25 Megan - 15/25 Andy - 15/25 Wallace - 17/25 Derek - 18/25 Final Average = 12.77 / 25 Andy - 15/25 Quote I forgot about this song! I might start randomly listening to it a lot more now Wallace - 17/25 Quote I like the slick, smooth and sexy feel of "I Like That." This song has a smooth lowkey feel to it and Janelle provides lovely and slick vocals throughout. The music video is cool too. Derek - 18/25 Quote Drum production is not my fave

*Wallace
Gahh this was a rough set for me here. Ughh booo at so many #24s for "Dance of Die." That's a song that I wished ranked much higher than it did here. Ooh ugh also wish "Ghetto Woman" and "Givin’ Em What They Love" ranked higher too. FrogLenzen
10. Americans Album: Dirty Computer (2018) Writers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton, Jon Jon Traxx Producers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton, Jon Jon Traxx https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirty_Computer Listen on YouTube @NGM - 2/25 @~Tom~ - 7/25 @*Diana - 11/25 @#jeah - 12/25 @*Wallace - 12/25 @totes4totes - 13/25 @*Lily - 13/25 @FrogLenzen - 21/25 @1234567890 - 23/25 Final Average = 12.66 / 25 Andy - 12/25 Quote it’s great Wallace - 12/25 Quote This is such a powerful and empowering song here from Janelle. I love the upbeat music feel and enjoy the lyrics she sings. It is so upbeat, powerful and uplifting. Derek - 21/25 Quote I like how the concept is for her to create her own American anthem but I never connected with this one 9. Pynk (feat. Grimes) Album: Dirty Computer (2018) Writers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton, Tayla Parx, Wynne Bennett Producers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton, Wynne Bennett https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pynk Listen on YouTube Derek - 4/25 Megan - 5/25 Lily - 7/25 Victoria - 7/25 Nico - 13/25 Andy - 13/25 Wallace - 13/25 Diana - 22/25 Tom - 23/25 Final Average = 11.88 / 25 Derek - 4/25 Quote When I first heard this I wasn't so sure, mostly because of the tempo and simplicity of the beginning. But I think this is like... the PERFECT prelude to the next track on this album, and I only listen to them together now. The way this builds to the end where she is wailing and the full cacophony is going, I just love it so much Megan - 5/25 Quote If there were every any questions about Janelle Monae's sexuality this entire album and this single put it all to rest. For obvious reasons, I feel a REAL KINSHIP to this song. Andy - 13/25 Quote I have always been slightly disappointed with this song, I felt like they could have made it even bigger a la Venus Fly. It’s still very catchy though Wallace - 13/25 Quote "Pynk" has a really pretty, cute and delicate sound to it. It's fun, cutesy and once again kind of different from what I would expect from Janelle. But then the tempo kicks up and it gets quite powerful but still really fun. A fun song! 8. Screwed (feat. Zoë Kravitz) Album: Dirty Computer (2018) Writers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton, Roman GianArthur, Mr. Hudson Producers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton, Roman GianArthur https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirty_Computer Listen on YouTube Megan - 2/25 Lily - 5/25 Diana - 8/25 Nico - 11/25 Andy - 11/25 Tom - 12/25 Derek - 13/25 Wallace - 20/25 Victoria - 22/25 Final Average = 11.55 / 25 Megan - 2/25 Quote Okay real talk, the back-to-back-to-back-to-back on Dirty Computer of "Screwed," "Django Jane," "Pynk," and "Make Me Feel" may be one of the best chunks of an album of all time. Just 4 straight bangers all in a row. All four absolutely incredible and four of Janelle Monae's best songs (honestly, if it weren't for "Cold War" and "Q.U.E.E.N." they might have been her 4 best songs of all time). The rest of Dirty Computer could have been absolutely mediocre and it still would have been more than worth it for those four songs. Andy - 11/25 Quote I always loved this song and thought it was clever and ridiculously catchy. Love that Zoë is randomly on this Derek - 13/25 Quote Lol a non-single getting a music video just to hang out with Zoe hahaha Wallace - 20/25 Quote This is a fun and pretty cool song. I like the feel of it, the music and Janelle's vocals. 7. Come Alive (The War of the Roses) Album: The ArchAndroid (2010) Writers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton, Kellis Parker Jr. Producers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Come_Alive_(The_War_of_the_Roses) Listen on YouTube Lily - 1/25 Nico - 1/25 Wallace - 5/25 Diana - 7/25 Derek - 8/25 Megan - 12/25 Tom - 15/25 Victoria - 20/25 Andy - 22/25 Final Average = 10.11 / 25 Wallace - 5/25 Quote Ooooh "Come Alive (The War of the Roses)" is such a fun and infectious song. This has such a fun upbeat feel to it. I love the mix of rock sound to it and her fast singing to it. But then it has those softer parts in between the faster intense parts. It has a fun, a bit of a sexy feel for it. Here for it! Derek - 8/25 Quote serving The B-52's Realness. So out-of-the-box Andy - 22/25 Quote I’ve never been a huge fan of this song but I get why it’s one of her more popular ones from the album 6. Q.U.E.E.N. (feat. Erykah Badu) Album: The Electric Lady (2013) Writers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton, Kellis Parker Jr. Producers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton, Roman GianArthur https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q.U.E.E.N. Listen on YouTube Victoria - 3/25 Megan - 4/25 Derek - 5/25 Lily - 9/25 Wallace - 10/25 Tom - 10/25 Nico - 12/25 Diana - 13/25 Andy - 19/25 Final Average = 9.44 / 25 Megan - 4/25 Quote Unlike Taylor Swift, Janelle Monae knows to use her best songs as singles and this is my favorite track on The Electric Lady. I am hot and cold on Erykah Badu, but I can't deny that this collaboration really excited me and it delivered. Again, Janelle Monae (and her team) know exactly which artists perfectly match her vibes. Also, I think this is the first song where she raps! It works! Derek - 5/25 Quote FUNK. this one pumps Wallace - 10/25 Quote This is a really fun and funky song from Janelle. Love the character she showcases in her voice, but also in the music video. It just has a great feel to it! Andy - 19/25 Quote Funky, but I get a little bored of it by the end Edited October 31, 2022 by FrogLenzen

With more listens, I grew to quickly love it. It's so upbeat, fun, happy and always manages to put a smile on my face! I love the feel of it and how Janelle sings the song. I really love the chorus, as that's so fun! I especially love those parts that the backup singers sing! Derek - 7/25 Quote Pure fun Andy - 9/25 Quote Electric Lady has some top notch singles. PrimeTime was robbed tbh 4. Electric Lady (feat. Solange) Album: The Electric Lady (2013) Writers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton Producers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton, Roman GianArthur https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_Lady_(song) Listen on YouTube Andy - 3/25 Lily - 3/25 Victoria - 4/25 Wallace - 6/25 Nico - 7/25 Megan - 8/25 Diana - 9/25 Tom - 17/25 Derek - 19/25 Final Average = 8.44 / 25 Andy - 3/25 Quote Always been super underrated to me, just super groovy and fun Wallace - 6/25 Quote This is another great funky, but smooth song from Janelle. I really like the style/vibe of this and her vocals on this. This has a great chill vibe to it and the chorus is really fun and catchy. The music video is a lot of fun too. Derek - 19/25 Quote This placement was the biggest surprise to me. I look like a hater with my ranking but that's just where it ended up in this mix 3. Cold War Album: The ArchAndroid (2010) Writers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton Producers: Janelle Monáe, Deep Cotton https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_War_(song) Listen on YouTube Andy - 1/25 Megan - 3/25 Tom - 4/25 Nico - 4/25 Wallace - 4/25 Diana - 5/25 Lily - 8/25 Derek - 10/25 Victoria - 18/25 Final Average = 6.33 / 25 Andy - 1/25 Quote This will always be her best song. It’s hard to top Megan - 3/25 Quote Again, one of her absolute best. And I considered it her best until Dirty Computer came out with some all-timers. Wallace - 4/25 Quote I love the dramatic and powerful sound of "Cold War." The music production hits hard and Janelle delivers strong powerful vocals. I really enjoy the verse but especially love the chorus! Derek - 10/25 Quote I didn't expect Janelle to go this hard when this first came out. Total banger. I wanted to give some deep cuts a boost in this game but I couldn't put this out of my Top

Ah hahaha but really I am still good and very happy with "Dance Apocalyptic" making it through to the Top 5 at #5. Lovee this song and think it's pure fun, joy and happiness. Glad this did so well! And yay no rankings lower than #17. 4. Ooh okay, "Electric Lady" was my lowest ranked song of this Top 5, which was my #6, so I'm good with this showing up now. I do love the funky and fun feel of this song and totally am not surprised it ranked so high. lol Derek being the big hater here. 3. Love "Cold War" and very pleased to see it making it to #3. This was my #4 so not too far off. But such a great song that shows off her strong vocals. Baaddd Victoria at that #18 ranking. But other than that, yayy for all Top 10 ranks besides that.
