Not usually. I like unique voices, even if they don’t have much range. Everyone is just mediocre this year. I remember seeing better people in Hollywood tho, this was just a terrible episode.

Here’s how I ranked the singers after watching them perform three times:

 

1.  Just Sam — a sympathetic backstory + a Selena song + a transformative performance = a spot in the Top 20 and her being my favorite singer.
2.  Francisco — his best and most confident performance yet!  I wonder what caused him to become so insecure in the first place.
3.  Jonny — he got to shine on his own once his girlfriend was cut.
4.  DeWayne — putting a reggae spin on this song was a risk, but the risk paid off with a spot in the Top 20.
5.  Jovin — his vocals may not have been great this time, but he is a definite artist with a unique sound among the men.
6.  Dillon — he had better vocals but could have emoted more in this particular song.
7.  Louis — he is falling while Francisco is rising.  He needs to get out of his head if he wants to move on to the Top 10.  But he was good enough for the Top 20.
8.  Faith — she’s certainly an experienced performer but she’s the weakest singer among the girls who made it in this segment.
9.  Jordan — the only one who was cut in this segment that was probably good enough to move on, but Nick had the heartthrob factor going for him.
10.  Nick — he was good but not great.
11.  Geena — she was certainly enjoyable but she failed to do enough with the song to move on.
12.  Devon — he was good but rather forgettable.
13.  Amber — she was a little too screechy, and that cost her.
14.  Makayla Brownlee — sometimes drastically changing the arrangement of a particular song works, sometimes it doesn’t.  It didn’t work here.
15.  Camryn — you needed to take a risk (albeit a reasonable one) when you made it to the Top 40.  You played it safe.
