I'm looking at the past winners and I see two tragic winners and 3 tragic runner-ups. 🤣

I mean, Season 15 was nothing but tragic, so you can't hold that against them.

Still I agree on the prevalence of tragic winners. I guess this is where all the tonedeaf people who managed to get the worst freaking performance in Idol History a 77 were.

No, I'm not exaggerating. I honestly believe (and yes I've attempted to listen to it more recently to see if my opinion on it has changed, and, well, key word "attempted"--it was too painful) that Colton's performance of Piano Man is at least 80 points too high. I mean, I might be exaggerating when I say "worst in history" because the early seasons had a lot of train wreck auditioners, but certainly the worst in a performance round.

I'd keep Julia and Lauren, because we love Amazing talent, and awesomeness !!!  :P

Yeah, but Julia wasn't showcasing that amazing talent in Top 20. At all.

(I'm not going to harp on it too much, though, because as mad as I am that she survived Top 20, I thought she was much better this week! I mainly chalk it up to song choice; I feel like Human was a horrible song for her voice, but New York State of Mind was a much better fit.)

Piano Man was one of my favourite performances of season 11 (which is my favourite season) and I wasn't even a big Colton fan. What didn't you like about it?

To YOU, she didn't showcase her amazing talent, last week,  but … her Likes to Dislikes, for that performance on youtube, were/are about 97% LIKES, so … just sayin'

IDF Redoes... American Idol 18

Top 7 Performance Show

Like the real show, we'll reveal the Top 7, one-by-one, based on your vote.

Then they will sing their Disney song. If no video exists of them singing a Disney song,

I will choose one based on their style and previous performances.

First to make it through is...

Just Sam - "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" (from Cinderella)

The second member of our Top 7 is...

Francisco Martin - "You'll Be In My Heart" (from Tarzan)

The third person to make it to next week's show is...

Julia Gargano - "Beauty and the Beast" (from Beauty and the Beast)

So far, all three contestants to make it through made the Top 7 in the original show.

Will that trend continue? Let's find out...

The fourth member of our Top 7 is...

Sophia James - "Part of Your World" (from The Little Mermaid)

The fifth member of the Top 7, as chosen by your votes is...

Makayla Phillips - "When Will My Life Begin" (from Tangled)

So Sophia and Mikayla make it through, despite being cut in last's night show.

And only two more spots remain. Let's find out who will nab them.

The 6th member of our Top 7 is...

Kimmy Gabriela - How Far I'll Go" (from Moana)

Which leaves Arthur, Grace, Dillon, Jonny, and Lauren.

Three of them made our original Top 7, one of them made the Top 10 and one of them

was left us at the Top 20. But only one spot remains.

The 7th, and final member of our Top 7 is...

Lauren Spencer-Smith - "When You Wish Upon A Star" (from Pinocchio)

So Francisco, Julia, Kimmy, Lauren, Makayla, Sam, and Sophia are our Top 7!
And we say goodbye to Arthur, Dillon, Grace and Jonny.

Now, let's see their Dedications to their Mother or Mother Figures.

First up, it's Just Sam with a dedication to her grandmother back in New York!

Just Sam - "I Turn To You" (Christina Aguilera)

Next to sing a dedication to his mother Fatima, it's Francisco!

Francisco Martin - "River" (Leon Bridges)

Next is Julia with an Adele hit dedication to her mom!

Julia Gargano - "Sweetest Devotion" (Adele)

Next is Sophia with a song from the musical Memphis

Sophia James - "Love Will Stand When All Else Fails" (from Memphis)

Up next is Makayla with an Alicia Keys' hit dedicated to her mom.

Makayla Phillips - "If I Ain't Got You" (Alicia Keys)

Next, singing her mom's favourite artist, The Weeknd, it's Kimmy Gabriela!

Kimmy Gabriela - "Call Out My Name" (The Weeknd)

And last to sing for your votes this week, it's Canadian native, Lauren Spencer-Smith

singing about how tough her mom is!

Lauren Spencer-Smith - "Elastic Heart" (Sia)

Voting will close on Sunday May 17th at 7:59PM EST
