I've got a lot to catch up on, but I was pretty gooped at how the Best Actress race ended up. Rooting for Michelle Yeoh (but we always stan Cate Blanchett). Also really happy for Paul Mescal (he was amazing in Aftersun, such a good film), Stephanie Hsu, Hong Chau, Colin Farrell, Kerry Condon, Jamie Lee Curtis, and more on their first-time acting nominations!

I also watched all the major above the line nominations and here's my personal preferences

Best Picture:

1. Everything Everywhere All at Once

2. The Banshees of Inisherin

3. TAR

4. The Fabelmans

5. Top Gun: Maverick

6. Women Talking

7. Avatar: The Way of Water

8. Triangle of Sadness

9. All Quiet on the Western Front

10. Elvis

Looooove my entire top four. Like 5-9 well enough. Don't really care about Elvis.

Best Director:

1. The Daniels - Everything Everywhere All at Once

2. Todd Field - TAR

3. Steven Spielberg - The Fabelmans

4. Martin McDonagh - The Banshees of Inisherin

5. Ruben Östlund - Triangle of Sadness

Once again, love my top four. Thought Östlund's direction was solid, not outstanding.

Best Actor:

1. Colin Farrell - The Banshees of Inisherin

2. Brendan Fraser - The Whale

3. Austin Butler - Elvis

4. Bill Nighy - Living

5. Paul Mescal - Aftersun

Strongest category of the night, all five performances delivered. I'd rather not see Austin win because I think the other frontrunners would be more exciting, but he certainly didn't deliver a bad performance or anything.

Best Actress:

1. Cate Blanchett - TAR

2. Michelle Yeoh - Everything Everywhere All at Once

3. Michelle Williams - The Fabelmans

4. Andrea Riseborough - To Leslie

5. Ana de Armas - Blonde

Objectively I prefer Cate's performance, but I'd much rather see Yeoh win the Oscar. The weakest of the acting categories outside of my top two though. Andrea & Ana did the best they could with bad movies.

Best Supporting Actor:

1. Ke Huy Quan - Everything Everywhere All at Once

2. Barry Keoghan - The Banshees of Inisherin

3. Brendan Gleeson - The Banshees of Inisherin

4. Brian Tyree Henry - Causeway

5. Judd Hirsch - The Fabelmans

This would've been a flawless lineup with Dano instead of Hirsch's glorified cameo. Love the other four performances, will be thrilled to see any of them win. Pulling for Quan still.

Best Supporting Actress:

1. Stephanie Hsu - Everything Everywhere All at Once

2. Kerry Condon - The Banshees of Inisherin

3. Hong Chau - The Whale

4. Angela Bassett - Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

5. Jamie Lee Curtis - Everything Everywhere All at Once

Another near flawless lineup outside of JLC doing the bare minimum. Would be thrilled to see anyone besides her win.

Best Original Screenplay:

1. The Banshees of Inisherin

2. Everything Everywhere All at Once

3 . TAR

4. The Fabelmans

5. Triangle of Sadness

I'd love to see Banshees get the win here. EEAAO is obviously gonna win big and I'd hate to see Banshees get shutout.

Best Adapted Screenplay:

1. Women Talking

2. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery

3. Living

4. All Quiet on the Western Front

5. Top Gun: Maverick

Very uninspiring category, don't really care what happens.

Not gonna get into all the below the line stuff, but while I enjoyed Pinocchio, I'm really hoping to see Puss in Boots or Marcel pull off the upset in Animated. Also hoping Babylon takes Score. The movie didn't live up to my expectation for Chazelle, but the Score was flawless.

I expect Everytihng Everywhere All At Once to get more awards than I predicted here. I almost picked Cate Blanchett to win Supporting Actress so Tar could win something, but I believe the buzz is on Michelle's side.
