  1. I haven't been here for a while (like, I missed the last season lol), so forgive me if some of these are actually popular or have already been stated. I absolutely love GNT's female singer. But the male singers really don't do it for me unless they're harmonizing with her. As much as I dislike Jim & Sasha's performances, they're so adorable. Gymani was one of the most talented singers who has been on the show in a really, really, really long time. I really want to like Lana. Something's not connecting for me. Joshua is one of the best singers who has been on the show, but he also isn't connecting with me. He's SO GOOD, but I feel nothing when he sings.
  2. Ones that either made me salty, or made me scream with joy (if they went my way), are in red. 1. (Didn’t really watch enough of this one to win, but I liked what I saw of Javier, so I'd give it to him) 2. Juliet Simms. I was happy for Jermaine, but I have to admit that I was a fan of her band Automatic Loveletter before she was on the show. She was so different and extremely impressive on the show. I just liked her a lot. 3. Trevin Hunte. Amanda Brown in a very close second. Out of the people in the finale, Terry McDermott, then Cassadee, but all of them (and Nicholas David) were phenomenal. This was such a wildly strong season, one of the best for sure. 4. Michelle Chamuel. Or Amber Carrington. Or Sarah Simmons. Or Judith Hill. Any one would have been fine. I don’t dislike Danielle, but I don’t… ‘get it’ with her. 5. Tessanne Chin. One of the best vocalists in the show’s history. 6. Sisaundra Lewis. See Tessanne Chin. Absolutely insane vocalist. Just… wow. I’d have taken Delvin, too, if his live song choices hadn’t been so… questionable. I was happy that Josh won, though. 7. Chris Jamison. His voice was so smooth but powerful. Probably the best pop male the show has ever had, or at least one of them. I did like Craig Wayne Boyd, though. 8. Kimberly Nichole, do not @ me, and I am STILL salty about her elimination to this day. Dammit. 9. Jordan Smith. No contest, one of the best singers in the show's history. (And if you don’t agree, may I refer you to “Somebody to Love”?) 10. Alisan Porter. Seriously one of those people who has an insane audition and then matches the vocal abilities in the lives. Truly incredible pipes. 11. Ali Caldwell. Consistently amazing, never should’ve lost that Instant Save. This season was awful. 12. Chris Blue. Long live the king. (And if you don’t agree, may I refer you to “Rhythm Nation”?) 13. Addison Agen. I really don’t get the hype around Chloe. Addison’s voice is so warm and comforting. At least out of the finalists, she should’ve won. 14. Kyla Jade. Probably the greatest singer this show has ever seen. (And if you don’t agree, may I refer you to “Let It Be”?) I'm only glad she didn't win because she didn't want to. 15. Kennedy Holmes. Kirk and Chevel were really good, though, Chevel more so than Kirk in hindsight. But Kennedy was a star. 16. Shawn Sounds, followed extremely closely by Maelyn Jarmon—and then followed after that by Dexter Roberts. Thank God she won out of her finale. 17. Rose Short, followed extremely closely by Ricky Duran, who was just exceptionally talented and, IMO, never had an OK or decent performance - all were good to phenomenal. 18. Toneisha Harris, who has such a great voice. Absolutely 100%. Todd wasn’t as bad as some make him out to be, though. 19. DeSz. Like Kyla and Sisaundra before her, one of the best singers to cross the stage. What impressed me the most about her was her massive range and her ability to handle herself like a champ in the lower register. Her performances were so dynamic and powerful. Shameful that she got 4th.
  3. I'd argue Season 15; honestly, I had no idea Chevel Shepherd had as much momentum as she did. I thought it was pretty even between her, Chris Kroeze, (because of his massive hometown support), and Kirk Jay. I kinda figured Kennedy Holmes was out of the running due to being in the Instant Save, proving that she didn't have nearly as much support as people initially assumed. Before the Semifinals, I thought Kennedy was going to win the whole thing. For earlier seasons, I wonder if Season 2 and Season 5 count? The vote between Jermaine Paul and Juliet Simms was so close (52% to 48%), either one of them could have won. I don't know how close the vote was on Season 5, but I remember watching that finale and genuinely having no idea if Tessanne Chin or Jacquie Lee would win or not. (I didn't think Will would because anecdotally, I didn't see as much support around him as Tessanne and Jacquie). I'd also argue Season 11; I genuinely had no idea who would win between Wé McDonald, Sundance Head, and Billy Gilman. It seemed like they all had massive amounts of support - Wé had her audition leaked and got a lot of attention for her speaking voice, Billy had fans from his childhood, and Sundance was just right for the show's demographics. Plus, Wé had even gotten the public vote in spite of not charting in the iTunes Top 10 like Christian Cuevas and Josh Gallagher did. Instead, they ended up in the Middle 3 instead of her. I really thought any one of the Top 3 could have won that season.
  4. This is frightening. Are you literally me? Seriously, though - Vanessa, Chris, and Stephanie are three of my biggest snowflakes of all time. In fact, you could just say that my Season 12 snowflake was all of Team Alicia. I've never had 3 snowflakes in a single season, and you might wonder how it's even possible, but trust me. I found a way. Season 14 was great, although I feel like it was better before Kelsea Johnson was eliminated. She was SO GOOD. So solid. So underrated. The terrible format for that season was what hurt her more than anything.
  5. Favorite is Season 16. Both Maelyn and Shawn were my snowflakes. (Shawn was my #1, but good thing I had Maelyn as my backup ) Least favorite... eh, probably Season 19. Season 17 gives it a run for its money, though; Will was wonderful IMO, but I was not a fan of Katie, and Marybeth was nice until she flopped in the later live rounds. Tragic song choices for all of them except Will, too. "Light My Fire" will forever be one of the most underrated and pleasantly uncommon performances from recent seasons IMO. I love when contestants randomly pull out the songs that hardly anyone performs.
  6. Because Worth the Wait has three singers, so technically six women total got 4-chair turns this season (Tamara, Desz, Cami, - and Mia, Jacy, and Tara).
  7. I think they mean that it isn't iconic because the link is broken. None of us can see it.
  8. Season 11: Josh Gallagher, who never should've beaten Ali Caldwell in that Instant Save. Season 12: Jesse Larson. I liked him, but I liked everyone in that finale. BTW, can I talk to whoever chose Chris Blue? I think you might've mis-clicked. Season 13: Red Marlow. I really liked Addison and Brooke, and I thought Chloe was OK.
  9. Season 5: Will Champlin. You're right, though; this was extremely difficult. Season 6: Jake Worthington, but my mama always said that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. So Season 7: Damien. This was a really good finale IMO, but I loved Chris, really liked Craig and Matt... Damien was just a favorite out of a good lineup.
  10. I wanna revive this topic! There were only four (or technically six lol) 4-chair turns in Season 19: Tamara Jade, Desz, Cami Clune, and Worth the Wait. None of them were men. There were nine 3-chair turns in Season 19 (Jim Ranger, Marisa Corvo, John Holiday, Taryn Papa, Sid Kingsley, Rio Souma, Ben Allen, Sam Stacy, Tanner Gomes, Julia Cooper). Also, I'm still counting and I'm up to Season 8 - but so far, I think every season from 1-8, except for Season 4, had one song that was performed twice on two different occasions, by two different contestants.
  11. Disclaimer: I used to be a lot more passionate about these seasons than I am in hindsight. Like, now that I look back on them, I see the merits in a lot of these contestants that I couldn't see before (except Gyth), so I didn't dislike anyone from these seasons (except Gyth). Season 14: Britton Buchanan. Kyla Jade was my snowflake, Spensha was close to one, and Brynn has a very gorgeous tone that I wish I had appreciated more during her season. Britton was also really good. This was a great finale, just picked my least favorite out of a good crowd. Season 15: Chris Kroeze. But I really loved his "Burning House" and thought he had a cool tone. I really liked Kennedy and Kirk, and in hindsight, Chevel was an absolutely phenomenal singer who, again, I wish I had appreciated more during her season. Season 16: Gyth Rigdon, who sounded decent in his pre-taped rounds before the lives exposed how weak his voice really was. Not to mention that he has the crowned king of pandering performances ("God Bless the USA") and I refuse to reward that. One more thing - Dexter Roberts is underrated. Only God knows why he finished behind Gyth.
  12. Season 17: Katie Kadan. Everyone in this finale was at least good, but Jake Hoot really impressed me multiple times (I mean, come on, "Desperado" is beautiful), Ricky Duran was absolutely phenomenal every day, and Rose Short was superhuman. Katie's voice and theatrics didn't do much for me. Season 18: Todd Tilghman. I didn't dislike him that much, but I REALLY liked everyone else. Micah isn't getting enough love; he had some of my favorite performances of the season, and I don't usually like singers with his style on The Voice ("Graveyard" and "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" were beautiful IMO). Season 19: Ian Flanigan. It was a tossup between him and John Holiday. I think they both have their merits, especially John, who is an exceptionally talented singer - but I don't love listening to either one anymore. Either way, this is a good finale IMO.
  13. Season 8: I voted Sawyer because I really didn't like him as much as a lot of folks did, and the hype he got was always puzzling to me. I thought Koryn was amazing, Meghan was good, but now I really regret not voting Joshua because he was so... just OK... That finale could have been phenomenal; that season was so stacked (until it wasn't). Kimberly Nichole NEEDED to be there; I'd have loved India Carney there, too. Season 9: Barrett Baber, no contest. Jordan, Emily, and Jeffrey were all great. Season 10: Amazing finale lineup IMO. I voted Adam, but I liked him a lot - just the least out of the four. I loved Laith's classic rock, I loved Hannah Huston's style, and I loved Alisan's and Adam's voices. That was a really hard one.
  14. The fact that he gave Desz's blind audition a B- should be some kind of federal crime.
  15. What I WANT the final results to be: Winner: Desz 2nd: Jim 3rd: Carter 4th: John 5th: Ian What I predict the final results WILL be: Winner: Carter 2nd: Jim 3rd: Desz 4th: Ian 5th: John
  16. For anyone curious - Charlie Mason’s Ratings for All Finalists So Far: DESZ Blinds: B- Battles: B+ KOs: A Playoffs (T17): B- Semifinals (T9): A+ CARTER RUBIN Blinds: A Battles: A KOs: A+ Playoffs (T17): A Semifinals (T9): A+ JOHN HOLIDAY Blinds: A+ Battles: A- KOs: A Playoffs (T17): B- Semifinals (T9): B+ JIM RANGER Blinds: A- Battles: A KOs: A Playoffs (T17): B+ Semifinals (T9): B- IAN FLANIGAN Blinds: B Battles: B KOs: B Playoffs (T17): B- Semifinals (T9): A Instant Save: B
  17. I'm really glad Cami's run on the show ended on such a high note. She had a BEAUTIFUL Instant Save performance. I'm excited to see what she does next, now that she doesn't have the limitations that finalists (or winners) have.
  18. I really miss when NBC used to put the percentages on the screen during the final commercial break.
  19. I'm still absolutely astonished that Jim won the public vote. That's seriously a HUGE comeback from last week. (I preferred Jim last night and mostly throughout the season, so I'm very happy for him.)
  20. I'll say this: she's an extremely talented vocalist who is getting overshadowed by the others for some reason. If you listen closely, she pulls off so many complex and difficult tricks with her voice. Something about her isn't clicking with the audience (she has the lowest views on YouTube, and the second lowest like/dislike ratio for solo performances). I preferred Desz, Carter, and Jim over her last night, and I thought she was approximately tied with Ian, who, granted, got a really flattering song choice. She did very well last night. Now for my unpopular opinions: I prefer Desz over Cami, I always have and always will, and I hope Desz wins the public vote tonight. I prefer Jim over Ian; even though I think Ian has gotten significantly better and more flattering song choices, Jim vocally blows him out of the water. I really want to connect with Carter, but all I hear when he sings is an exceptionally talented kid. That's it. I don't connect with his performances at all. I can't get into him as much as I can get into people like Desz, Cami, and (on her better nights) Tamara.
  21. I made another YouTube "analysis"/comparison in Excel! In the "Summary of Top 5 or 6 Comments" column, the red comments are negative. I bolded the observations that I saw in the comments very frequently and marked the amount of times I saw them. Also, it isn't really a "summary" this week, more like I'm just listing their contents lol. My takeaways: Once again, Carter Rubin destroyed on YouTube in views - AND won in the like/dislike ratio. And once again, Desz was also remarkably popular on YouTube compared to everyone but Carter. She had the second highest ratio. YouTube loves Carter and Desz. No one's ratio was below 90% this week (except the "Pompeii" group performance lol), but Tamara and Bailey Rae had the lowest individual ratios. Tamara Jade had the most negative comments BY FAR, but interestingly, most of them criticized the arrangement of the song rather than criticizing her vocal performance. The average ratio was actually higher than it was last week (93.9% to 95.6%). People preferred this week to last week. (About that last point, I want to point out that Taryn Papa and Tanner Gomes's like/dislike ratios were so low, that they significantly weighed down the average. Not counting theirs, last week's Playoffs actually had a HIGHER average than this week [96.4%], which is incredible because most people say they preferred this week.) Except for Jim Ranger, the country singers eternally have the lowest views. Jim did surprisingly well on YouTube this week. Last week, he had some of the WORST YouTube stats. Jim is a serious outlier here, and I honestly have NO IDEA where his views came from this week. (At this time last week, he had ~39,000 views!)
  22. Wow. They actually think Tamara Jade is going to win the public vote against John Holiday.
  23. The worst part is that I know that, but I still put Season 2. Look, it's been a long day...
  24. Gwen crying is actually adorable. I love when she cries for her singers. (She cried for Rose's "I Want to Know What Love Is" in the Semifinals in Season 17.)
