VoiceFan!
I think the number of chair turns only matter in the battles and knockouts.

Misirlou
At this point we´ve discovered that it doesn´t matter at all. 4 chairs used to be a big deal in the past, but now a one chair could easily surpass them if they appeal more to the demographic or simply perform better on the show. Misirlou
Case in point: Ian, a one chair turn eliminated two 4 chair turns (Tamara and Cami) in the semifinals instant save.
allistr
In the voice UK, there are so many 1 chair turns that became winners, like Jermain Jackman, Ruti, Blessing Chitapa... so no. Chair turns don't matter because they don't define your real skills, what does matter is the way the coaches see the potential in them and help them get to the top and how contestants deliver each day. We even have Jake Hoot in US too. Reason why some got less chair turns is mostly because they don't know how to coach them in their genres or music style (Belle Voci is a good example, glad JHud took a big risk; See also: Trevin Hunte), or when they pull a strategic move to get more chance for an artist to join their team automatically (see JHud's hand movement at the end of MaKenzie's audition as she tries to prevent other coaches from turning) I saw some comments about chair turns complaint and some of them even called the judges "idiots" which is disrespectful ngl Edited February 22, 2022 by Ottoxxx
erik g
I think sometimes they can influence the coaches decision but not that much. And they really dont matter at all in the lives

You mean the version where they barely turn for anyone?? lol. Â Off-topic but i'm lowkey expecting they cancel that version because it has became a joke, and a bad one. They’re looking pretty good right now compared to the Dutch version
Misirlou
Regarding the question, it mainly doesn't, since Minivan doesnt care, and a lot of 4 chairs have been eliminated before lives as well.  However, I say "mainly", because there have been some contestants that were outsung in either their battle or KO and were obviously picked due to them being 4 chairs in the blinds, so it does influence the coaches to an extent. Other times they dont care. Edited February 24, 2022 by Misirlou
allistr
A lot of people in comment section still care about chair turns and they all turned on the judges who didn't turn, but c'mon man, they are supposed to be judges and only they are able to make their own minds about which auditions are good enough or have potential to warrant a chair turn. Still can't get over the fact that some even called judges "idiots" like what. Edited February 24, 2022 by Ottoxxx
