The thing is, almost all Voice contestants are better vocalists than Shania, but they don’t have her performance abilities, and can’t pull off her sass. None of the contestants who’ve attempted Faith Hill songs on the show are in her league vocally. Both are equally risky for different reasons.

Lili Passero! She sang the man I feel like a woman song, in front of Shania, while she was sick. I think Kat will advance too, unless it’s a really bad performance. Better to have a Shania song than a Faith Hill song.

Holy sh*t, I didn’t even notice he was singing that. I guess Kat’s isn’t the worst song choice. Kelly is ready for Shane to go home, which is interesting, because she usually doesn’t use song choice as a bus tool.

Listening to Kat’s again. I think her song choice is the worst one of all, tbh. The original is too familiar to people to try this. Who has been successful with a Shania song on this show? Anyone? Is Kat a country singer now? Listened to Joana’s too. Not a fan of that one either.

The song doesn’t go anywhere. Pretty tough to have a moment with that. I’ve listened to the entire studio. Good luck to her, though. At least she’s not singing another rangey song. That will be next week.

Wow, those are some bad song choices. Advantage Jake, I guess? It’s not a great song, but the country fans will think it’s OK. Do they think Blake fans are suddenly going to support Rose now? This is a dumb idea. . The bus came for Kat and Marybeth, as I suspected.. they won’t be going home, but this will weaken them even more. The wildcard is Katie. The studio does nothing for me, but she capable of crushing that live. Her tone is just too much for me on this song. Ricky will have a solid performance, but it’s going to be a snoozer. Don’t care about the others, so I’m not going to waste my time listening to their studios.

Maybe he doesn’t want to be associated with the show? I don’t blame him if that’s the case.

It’s probably what TPTB would like it to be, to have each coach represented in the finale. I doubt very much that Ricky was in 2nd.

I don’t know you if you all are aware, but she’s releasing music tomorrow at Midnight with Sizzy Rocket. Check her Twitter and Instagram (including her story). Lots of pictures. This is clearly intended to be controversial, so it should be interesting. Two songs. Maybe just the photos are controversial. We’ll see. I expect she’ll lose a bunch more Voice followers, but she probably knows that, and doesn’t care. I wonder if this will be released under Republic???

To be clear, I don’t think Riley is very good. I just thought a decent sized portion of the audience would support the only contestant singing country songs, but it turns out I was wrong about that. On the other hand, I was right about Jeremiah! :icecream:

Again...outside of a couple people, there is no obsession on IDF. I think there are several people who would like her to do better, but have conceded that she hasn’t performed up to their standards. That doesn’t necessarily mean people dislike her voice, or anything else about her. I don’t think she has a sizable fanbase, either on IDF, or anywhere else. She needs casual votes, which will require consistently better performances than what she delivered this week.

41 people have voted so far. 4 chose her as their favorite, 3 as their least favorite. Not only is she not close to being an IDF fav, she isn’t even particularly polarizing. Most don’t care much either way. It’s probably like that out in the real world too. That means she needs to knock it out of the park on a weekly basis. On the bottom, where it usually lists a label it says, “2019 Maelyn Jarmon.” How can he get away with that? Seems crazy to me.

That explains why I couldn’t find it. Sounds awesome! What is the “Royal Sadness” song, released on June 3rd, that comes up under her name on iTunes and Apple Music??? Is that her, or someone else? I don’t recall hearing anything about that. It’s just instrumentals.

If Layla makes it to the voting rounds, she could be a serious threat. Not only does she check a lot of boxes, but I can imagine her home state of Kentucky going all out for her. Personally, I didn’t care for that “Blown Away“ cover much. I’d advise her to steer clear of the big voice divas, and pick songs she can make her own. She definitely has potential.

Assuming TPTB has a goal of having each coach represented in the finale, that likely means a bus is coming for Marybeth, either next week, or in the bloodbath. Same can be said about either Ricky or Kat, depending on which one of them is in the lead. They seem to be trying to prop up Ricky, so that likely means Kat will be bussed if necessary. I doubt Hello Sunday is in a position to compete for a finale spot, but if they are, they’ll get run over too. They’ll try to get Rose to the middle 3, for a chance to sing her way in.

It’s actually hard to pull off a George Strait song, IMO. Off the top of my head, I can’t think of a successful cover on the show. Many have tried. Maybe it’s because he’s so iconic to hard core country fans. The same is true with Garth Brooks songs. Don’t even try it.

Are you sure you’re OK with a butchering of a George Strait song on national TV?

That’s why I think she’s probably in the lead, but I need to see dominance over a period of more than one week, because of the many examples in the past similar to the two I mentioned. No, the ones I mentioned weren’t as dominant during those weeks as Katie was this week. TV Line, of all things?

The only thing that gives me pause is she didn’t get the streaming bonus, but she’s probably in the lead. I need to see it for another week. You know who else had huge weeks for T11? Kymberli Joye and Kennedy Holmes. At least that’s what the social media numbers showed. There was a lot of excitement around here about Kymberli taking over as Kelly’s “frontrunner” and Kennedy looked unstoppable. EDIT: S14 T11 it was Pryor Baird with “Night Moves.” He was clearly going to win. Remember?
