  1. Hmmm....that’s one way to look at. The more charismatic and singer of better song choices version of Kim Cherry?
  2. If they wanted Jake to win, they probably would have called his name first, but they don’t, so they called TCO by necessity instead.
  3. No. Probably 3rd at the moment.
  4. Her appeal to the audience is similar to Jordan Smith. I’m not comparing singing ability, but the novelty factor. They both have characteristics that would result in industry execs not taking a 2nd look, but ironically work in their favor on this show. My opinion is that Jordan is a better singer, but Katie is the better performer by a lot.
  5. I’m going to give him a 10% chance of winning, only because he’s on Team Blake. Katie 60% Jake 30% Ricky 10% Rose 0% Something like that.
  6. Imagine the school aged contestants having to manage that too. Pretty sure Noah was still in school. It takes a unique individual to be able to handle all of that at a young age.
  7. I don’t know whether it means anything this season, but this will be the first time since S11 Blake won’t have more than one finalist splitting votes.
  8. For S14, Britton got the first bonus with "Small Town," which surprised a lot of people, since that's not really a streamable song. Brynn got it the next two weeks, but I don't remember who got it in the bloodbath. Did they even announce it? Her song wasn't one I would expect to get streamed a lot, but we've seen since that might not matter much. Of course, they never announce the finale, but I'm pretty close to 100% sure she got it again with "Walk My Way.' For S15, Reagan Strange actually got the first two streaming bonuses. That streak ended with "Cry" and "The Robe." Adam really blew it with her, needless to say. Chris Kroeze got the next two. We don't know about the finale. S16...I think Gyth got it the first week (T24), and Maelyn the next two (T13 and T8). It was a shortened live season. So, the streaming bonus has had mixed results as an indicator.
  9. Depends on the state of his mental health at the time. Sometimes free stuff isn’t worth it. Or, maybe nobody told him there would be a free car....
  10. Right. What I meant is if Katie has twice as many view or likes as the next highest contestant, it’s not factored in using that method, to use a hypothetical example. I did something similar for a couple seasons, and I didn’t account for that either, but we didn’t have one contestant dominating some of these platforms to this degree. I think Katie is leading the voting, but Jake might be able to beat her with all of his bonuses. The problem is we don’t have any clue what overall vote totals look like.
  11. Couple things.... -the reason Katie has more social media followers is probably because she’s the most popular contestant. -If Katie’s level of dominance on FB, YT, Twitter and IG was properly weighted into those statistics, I think you’d get a different result. I realize that would be more work than it’s worth. -Online polls are fun, but are subject to group-think bias much more than the other platforms. We don’t even know the sample sizes. It might not be much more than what we see with our own polls. They also get spammed and hacked regularly. I don’t take them seriously. -if you’re right, I will bow down.
  12. It was obvious he wasn’t going to win, but it has to be a meat grinder to spend several weeks in that environment. He was probably stressed out. Understandable.
  13. Social media followers, post-bloodbath... Instagram: Katie 65.9K Ricky 32.5K Jake 26.1K Rose 19.1K Twitter: Katie 10.1K Jake 5.9K Ricky 4.9K Rose 4.0K Facebook: Jake 20K Katie 18.7K Ricky 9.1K Rose 4.8K
  14. And...what about the label having an excuse to not promote them? I think it was different during the early seasons, but this audience does not care anymore. They really need to blaze their own trail. I see evidence of two recent winners doing that right now....Chevel and Chloe. There are obviously no guarantees for either of them. It's a tough business. Would Chevel come back to debut a song on the show? I hope not, but my hunch is she probably would. At least she's not sitting around, waiting to do it.
  15. How many contestants have followed the same failed strategy of debuting a song on the following season’s result show? Sales are usually lackluster, which gives the label an excuse to not promote the song or the artist. Take a different path. Even if it’s just a performance of “Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” I doubt singing that on the show would have a huge impact on sales or streams, whether it’s Maelyn or Brynn.
  16. Here’s what we know. Maelyn - Released a cover of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Said a few days ago that new music is “still cooking” to make it just right, or something like that. Brynn - Released a cover of Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Yep! The same song Maelyn released! She’s working on new music, but I doubt it’s just around the corner. Chevel - Has been recording over the last few weeks at the Starstruck studio, working with Reba’s songwriters among others. Says new music in early 2020, but who knows how solid that timeline is? If anyone is coming back, it will be one of the first two to sing the Christmas song. I don’t think it’s worth it!
  17. Man, I don’t want Brynn to keep coming back and appear dependent on the show, but you really need to get a grip. Also....Maelyn, Chevel and everyone else....don’t come back until you have a hit song. Seriously. It’s a waste of time.
  18. We should find out guest performances in the next day or two. And whether Maelyn or other past contestants will perform.
  19. Nope. They didn’t mention the bonus, which probably means Jake got it. I’m no Jake fan, but that’s BS not to announce it.
  20. They kept giving him late spots and pimp spots, calling his name first, 4 chair standing Os, etc. As a result, everyone seemed to think he was winning, but when it came down to it, he didn’t even have enough votes to beat his own teammate who had an invisible fanbase. I still don’t understand why they did that. Perhaps the poor performances finally caught up to him, and many of his country votes defected to Chris and Chevel.
  21. I actually think Jake and Ricky will split some votes. Most country fans are open to other genres, and he’s on Blake’s team. His music is acceptable to them.
  22. What a brilliant analogy. Those contestants are usually white teenagers or young adults, and if they’re lucky enough to not get bussed or montaged, they have a hard time getting viewers to vote for them. Black divas are waaaaay more popular with the audience than that group. I think 18+ females have a tougher road than teens or males of any age, in general. Even 18-29 year old males of any genre struggle more than the mid-30s country/blues/soul types.
  23. I’m through most of Koryn’s album. I like a couple of the songs quite a bit, tbh. Next time they want to showcase a diva on the show, they should have them sing “Speak the Name” in the pimp spot. It would have worked well for Rose, IMO. Maybe even PV.
  24. AA, white, Asian....whatever they are, what’s really important is whether the people claiming to be outraged support them after the show. Where they place on the show is meaningless, if they can’t follow it up with a meaningful career. On than note, I’m going to download Koryn Hawthorne’s album into my Apple Music library and listen to it in my car today. I wasn’t her fan in the show, and I don’t even particularly like Gospel music, but it’s hard not to be impressed with her career trajectory, so I feel like I owe it to her to listen at least once.
  25. The problem with this argument is that you’re tearing down others to make your case. That tactic is counterproductive. I actually started Spensha’s fan thread. Regardless of what you think of Brynn (I know she wasn’t flawless on the show...I get it), Spensha didn’t do enough to win the show. She certainly could have, IMO. Chevel and Kennedy both excelled in their chosen genre....much more so than the 2nd and 3rd place finishers. From there, it comes down to musical taste, local support, etc. I mean...she didn’t only lose to Chevel, if we’re being honest, but that’s how it usually gets portrayed. I also believe there was some backlash over the OTT pimping around her Kennedy’s blind. Maybe they now realize that, because they hid TCO for weeks in the following season.
