After another listen, I don’t think Ricky’s original is that bad. The audience isn’t going to be following the lyrics closely enough to find them sexist, or whatever. His cover is a good song, but is it a finale song? Still, there’s a possibility of some Katie fans defecting, since this is two weeks in a row of lame song choices. Considering her fans are mostly minivan/Facebook types, they could either go to Jake or Ricky/Blake.

OK, this is the 2nd time you’ve said this. I hate to break it to you, but Lonestar is not comparable to Garth Brooks, and “Amazed” is not comparable to “The Dance.” You probably know this, though.

I’ve listened to all of the songs. It’s baffling. The only good song is Jake’s cover, and it’s the same exact song he’s been singing every week, with different lyrics.

Objectively, Rose has the best original. I don’t think these are going to factor into the results, since they’re so bad.

Jake’s original isn’t very good either. It’s the definition of meh and ZzzZzzzzz....

This is a serious question, and I mean no disrespect....Didn’t you support Britton over Kyla and Spensha? I’m not faulting you for choosing your preference, but that sort of goes against what you’re suggesting. There were also black female contestants during Noah’s season. Yeah, I think they preferred her over Chris, but they definitely wanted to get JHud a win. They’ve never pimped a blind as much as they did Kennedy’s. It was leaked almost a week early. I suspect Chevel had a huge lead all the way through the live shows. She was leading the social media indicators most weeks, and she had as much or more local support than any contestant ever has. That local support probably doesn’t all show up in our stats, since those are mostly people who don’t typically follow the show. Thinking back....from Season 8 and on, they’ve gotten what they wanted every season except for S11, S13, and S15. They wanted We McDonald in S11 because of Alicia, and they wanted Brooke in S13 because of Miley. The coaches are what TPTB cares about. The contestants are just props.

Even the bloodbath pimp failed to deliver 2 of the last 3 seasons. Although, it may have gotten Shawn Sounds to the middle 3, rather than the bottom? It’s impossible to know.

I think they usually know who’s going to win. They gave Emily Ann the pimp spot, but I doubt they thought she had a chance to win. Maybe they just wanted her to finish ahead of Barrett. The fact that Kennedy still finished 4th after that tells us all we need to know about the effectiveness of the pimp spot. If Katie has a big lead, she could probably perform a different arrangement of Lady Marmalade and still win.

I agree that it’s unlikely, but Sawyer might have won by a larger percentage. His biggest competition was Meghan Linsey

Would TPTB rather.... -John win his first two seasons -Kelly win 3 of her 4 seasons -Blake get his 7th win, but his first since S13 If the 3 were reasonably close, they’d probably try to get Blake another win. Ricky’s SM numbers have been similar to Jake’s the last few weeks. I’m not ruling out a big surprise. This is the first time since S11 he’s only had one finalist.

We’ve had several country singers do well on social media and not have the votes to back it up....Red Marlow, Kirk Jay, Pryor Baird, among others, but every season is a little different, so who knows?

He really hammers streaming and iTunes on all of his social media accounts. He’s very consistent. He very well may win, but if you’re looking for a reason why his iTunes/streaming might overstate his overall votes, that would be it. Also, who in the hell wants to download “Lady Marmalade?”

They did. They also led during the entire finale result show, leading up to the winner announcement. The strangest thing was Kennedy was 2nd, well ahead of Kirk and Chris. Weird. Anyway, it doesn’t guarantee anything, but it’s worth watching.

Well, based on social media, she either has a bigger fanbase, or a more active one. I’m talking strictly followers, not people viewing and liking Facebook videos. Those are probably more driven by casuals. If the past is any indication, he won’t be signing with Republic.

That’s been my concern around him too. Desperado might have improved that situation, but it’s hard to know.

It’s even possible that more viewers could prefer Jake, but Katie still wins. She appears to have the more active fanbase, and she’s been popular since day 1.

I don’t think Kelly has the final say, but I also think it would be difficult for TPTB to get a bus song past her. I wasn’t necessarily suggesting they bus him, just that he hasn’t shown any versatility. Mixing it up a little (on the coach duet, at least) might actually pay off.

Every day, I check the 1 day Google Trend for the finalists. It always looks pretty much like this. Disregard Rose’s number, since the words in her name skew the results. Katie is generating about twice as much search activity as the others. Who knows what that means for voting. My experience has been that the winner usually leads the Google Trends the week leading up to the finale.
