Abi honestly has a few strong options right up her alley if she wants to go mid/up-tempo. So far I thought of:

- “Complicated” by Avril Lavigne

- “A Thousand Miles” by Vanessa Carlton

- “The Game of Love” by Santana ft. Michelle Branch

Emmy Russell: "I Try" by Macy Gray or "Cowboy Take Me Away" by the Chicks

Kayko: "Beautiful Day" by U2

Will Moseley: "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack

Abi Carter: "Bring Me To Life" by Evanescence or "Clocks" by Coldplay or "I'm With You" by Avril Lavigne

Julia Gagnon: "A Woman's Worth" by Alicia Keys

Mia Matthews: "How Far" by Martina McBride

Kaibrienne: A stripped down reimagining of "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes

Mia -

Tim McGraw "Live Like You Were Dying"

Gretchen Wilson " Redneck Woman"

Toby Keith "American Soldier"

Raschal Flatts "Bless The Broken Road"

If Shania is the mentor for this then there are some Shania songs she could sing too.

Love this theme for reminding me that I'm ancient... every single person in this lineup is Gen Z I can't :haha:

(on the plus side, expecting some bangers as throwbacks!)

Aren't the people born in the 90s millennials not Gen Z? But yeah I'm older than everyone here. (Although some are kinda close).

Posted this in the Emmy thread last night, but reposting here. Some I think would be good for her.

Songs from 1999 for year she was born, just taking a quick glance at the billboard from 1999 for Emmy possibly good fits:

Angel - Sara McLachlan

Kiss Me - Sixpence None the Richer

Jumper - Third Eye Blind (Acoustic version)

Hands - Jewel (could she sing this one since it's on the chart for 1999? If so, this would be amazing for her to do.) One of my fave Jewel songs (Big fan which could be why I love Emmy bc they are so similar)

Amazed - Lonestar (acoustic version)

I’ve seen the “cutoff” debated, but it’s usually the 96-97 range.

LMAO I'm feeling this same exact way seeing this theme and everyone's birth years. :dead:

At least with this theme, I'll be familiar with (most of) the songs as I grew up on them and this was when I started following music properly. :haha:

It's a good theme for a boomer.

I'd absolutely love to hear Abi cover A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton, I'm With You by Avril Lavigne or All I Wanted by Michelle Branch given how great I think she would sound singing those songs! And even though I'm not much of a fan of hers, I'd love to hear Emmy cover Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer or That Don't Impress Me Much by Shania Twain. Jack might sound pretty good covering All For You by Sister Hazel. And McKenna might still be able to sing Time after Time since INOJ released a cover of it in 1998. That's all I have for right now. And given what my age is, most of you guys are still babies compared to me. I think the last time there may have been someone older than me on American Idol was around 2008.

I'm really struggling with trying to figure out what song KB might be wise to cover from the year she was born. Maybe Why Can't I by Liz Phair could work for her or Are You Happy Now? by Michelle Branch. Stuck or More to Life by Stacie Orrico could be interesting songs for her to possibly cover as well. I also wouldn't be shocked if she's the one that ends up covering an Evanescence song instead of Abi, although I'm really not sure she has the voice for it. If she decides to cover My Immortal, she's really going to have to bring it. As far as Kayko is concerned, I think Absolutely (Story of a Girl) by Nine Days would be absolutely perfect for him to cover! I think a slowed down version of Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down, Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus, Broadway by the Goo Goo Dolls or Wonderful by Everclear could also work for him, although it might not be a bad idea for him to sing a rearranged version of a pop song, like Lucky by Britney Spears or Gotta Tell You by Samantha Mumba. And perhaps Complicated by Avril Lavigne or Don't Know Why by Norah Jones could work for Julia.
