About:

Kate Cosentino is a woman of subtle nuances and a plethora of dad jokes. She encompasses wit and sass while balancing the profound ability to speak on behalf of the struggles of others for the mere proposition of opening up conversation. Born and raised in Kansas City, Cosentino has always had an affinity for strong storytellers and jazzy hooks since the beginning. Influenced by powerhouse women like Regina Spektor, Norah Jones, Phoebe Bridgers, St. Vincent, and many more, Cosentino has found that the best voices are authentic ones.

Currently residing in Nashville, Tennessee, and working on her post-grad EP which features songs from her adolescent dabbles in love and relationships at Belmont University, Cosentino is hard at work to finally release a cohesive body of work under her name.

Her artistic talents have been recognized by initiatives like the Nashville Ballet and Bluebird Cafe’s Emergence Series as well as the Johnny Mercer Foundation’s Songwriters Project. Her accolades and personal goals run long, as the founder and creator of her own guitar strap company, Big Chick Energy, and even the humble recipient of the Taco Bell Scholar award. Kate’s biggest claim to fame is writing an original song for American Girl Doll’s doll Tenney Grant which is featured in the official books, products, and video game.

Because why shouldn't this talented woman who auditioned with a Lianne La Havas-inspired cover, loves Regina Spektor, plays a St. Vincent signature guitar, and writes lovely original songs not have her own fan thread?

Also, what do I need to listen by Lianne lol

Gone from her first album is a standout in her discography, so emotional.

In terms of whole albums, Blood is more poppy and has a bunch of great, catchy tracks. It’s a good introduction to her sound. However, her self-titled album from 2020 is my personal favorite and it is like a fusion of jazz/RnB/Soul and singer-songwriter music. It even has a Radiohead cover on it.

Song suggestions:
Don't Dream It's Over - Crowded House
I Knew You Were Trouble - Taylor Swift
Angels Like You - Miley Cyrus
Fingers Crossed - Lauren Spencer Smith
It's Too Late - Carole King

I think her original “Did I?” is my favorite I’ve heard from her so far. I like the songwriting, and she sounds fantastic on it. Catchy chorus too. Listen to it on Spotify!

In fact, while you’re at it, listen to her full EP that also contains this song.

The closing track, “I Don’t Know Where It Went Wrong” is very pretty. It reminds me of Lizzy McAlpine

In terms of the songs from her influences, here are a few from each I think she’d do a great job with:

St. Vincent - New York, Cheerleader, Slow Disco (piano version)

Regina Spektor - Two Birds, Us, One Man’s Prayer

Lianne La Havas - Wonderful, What You Don’t Do, Lost & Found

Pleased by the number of people asking to be added. Another reason I like and want to support Kate is because I got the sense that she has been grinding and relentlessly writing music for a while now. She is dedicated to her craft and I'll definitely be rooting for her after the show because she's got a current sound and has the talent to write a hit.
