Oh ugh, that is so sad. :(  Of course it's great when it's the other way around, but not when it's your team that suffers. :broken: So sorry, but good news about the playoffs!  You're welcome.

I agree! Well, at least you should never be bored. :haha:

      Reveal hidden contents

:lmao:  That would sure be a blindside after all my fangirling over Turtle and Astronaut. Oh interesting how you put that together! I am thinking maybe my clues are too obscure. :dead:  I had trouble coming up with them and didn't want to be boring and basic. I can say that neither of them have to do with his actual name.

    - They are. :lmao:

    - Thanks and oh yes, I saw yours. I would probably have that one up there as well.

Yeah, it was hard, but it's OK now. They beat them earlier in the season, and nearly beat them again last night. They played toe-to-toe against the reigning Super Bowl champions, and that's pretty much what one can ask for.

👍. Unfortunately, due to school and work, I really don't have any free time to enjoy them. :haha: At least I should have some of that with Thanksgiving coming up.

That would certainly be a blindside though there could be room for three. 😉 :haha: These clues are tough. Even with the clarification of them not having to do with the name of the actor, I'm still coming up blank. I may throw the towel in on this one.

    - Good to see!

    - I would say those were her two weakest performances of the season.

Aww, I'm so sorry. :(  I know it sucks, but I like to think of each game as a clean slate and an opportunity for them to improve and come out on top! Best of luck to them.

I think so too. It's always fun to have a completely unexpected reveal. :haha:  Aw, that's too bad. :(  Maybe you can add it to your list of things to keep you busy. :giggle:

      Reveal hidden contents

Did you just predict the Frog?

 :dead:  Very curious what led you in this direction. :giggle:  Let me think of another clue now.... This actor is also known as a John Legend song from the mid-2000s.

    - lol I loved that game! I can't remember all the songs on it, but sometimes when I hear one it comes back to me from my "amazing" performances of it. :dead:

    - I would say I'm Your Baby Tonight stands out for me as Elise's weakest performance.

Sounds good! Perfect opportunity to include another Gwen picture as well. :giggle:

The toughest part was they were ahead in the final two minutes only to have the other team come back and win in the final seconds. Despite the loss, they're still in playoff contention, so things aren't too bad. That's a nice way to think about the games. Thank you. 🤗

It is fun to have an unexpected reveal every now and then. Maybe I will add it to the list. I'm not sure when/if I'll be able to get to it, however. :haha:

    source.gif

    :giggle:

As for what led me to the guess, I couldn't think of someone who had the same name as a colored dart, so I looked it up. I came across some Shad fishing darts and remembered Bow Wow's real name is Shad Moss; hence, I guessed him.

An actor known as a John Legend song from the mid 2000s? The only two songs that come to mind are Maxine and P.D.A. (We Just Don't Care). I don't know any guys named Maxine, so I'll assume it's P.D.A. Now I just have to think of someone who may have those initials if I'm on the right track...

    - I'm sure those are very fond memories. It sounds like I missed out on something good. :giggle:

    - That's a good choice for her weakest performance. She didn't look comfortable during it. I mentioned mine up-thread.

  4. Unfortunately, I'm kind of down at the moment because my team just lost a tough hard fought game. However, I'll reply to the new posts.

I don't remember, but aww. :( lol they should have called it the "All Hail Gwen Stefani" theme. :lmao: :giggle:

It is, but definitely about the positives. ❤️ Thanks for your optimism. :hug:Oh yay, let me know if you do! 😄

Fine with me! Haha Baby Alien. :giggle: I do think that one was a surprise for most people. Aww, either way is fine. :haha: Oh, that's exciting! I'm surprised you didn't watch just to see her. 😮  Haha yay us! ❤️

    - Oh, I didn't remember this, but I see. I didn't have that issue, but interesting to think about. :haha:

    - :lmao: Oh, that's fair. I did consider those as well when deciding which Carrie performance to submit. I'm sure of it, which is why I want to see it. :haha:

I think I know which crush I want to post next, so I'll share my first clue. :blushingwave: He is an actor who is also a colored dart. :shiftywave:  You can ponder this while I look over your latest set. :giggle:

Yeah, but then again considering who we're talking about, maybe I'm just being dramatic. :haha: Why not; it can't be any worse than the actual name of the theme. :lmao:

Yeah, definitely. You're welcome. 🤗 Will definitely do. 😁

That was certainly a surprise. From what I've seen, many people were shocked at that unmasking. OK, I'll keep that in mind. I heard about her being a coach on the show and would've watched just for her, but unfortunately I was too busy to watch any episodes. :( We definitely got it good! :haha:

    - Fair enough about the song.

    - Oh, I see about the Carrie performances. Now that I think of it, I want to see it as well. :haha:

Ooh, a clue for the next crush. I have no idea what to think of this one. I'm probably way off with this guess, but here's my first attempt:

Shad Moss, AKA Bow Wow (though he's more known for his rapping than acting) :haha:

    05. Elliott Yamin - Open Arms: This was a disappointing night from Elliott, although I blame the song choices. :(  This is another overdone song that I love. He sang it well, but I guess it felt underwhelming. OMG your Clive Davis comment. :dead: And the Steve Perry one. :lmao:  Anyway, I agree with your thoughts.

    04. Kelly Clarkson - I Surrender: I was between the two Top 4 performances for which to submit, but went with this due to the hoarseness of her voice. It was more evident to me that she was sick in this one, and that was really all I could go on, I guess, since I thought both performances were still good. :haha:  Again, I would love to hear her sing this again, especially now. :omg:

    03. Pia Toscano - Where Do Broken Hearts Go: I think this is also my least favorite from Pia, although she always sounded good. This song in general is not one I really enjoy being performed and the tempo of it didn't really work for me (or one of her big notes near the end). Still a solid vocal and I have memories of "singing" this song on the American Idol video game back in the day. :dead:

    02. Elise Testone - Let's Stay Together: I can't think off the top of my head, but I think this was one of Elise's stronger performances for me. I can actually think of the one I'd say was her weakest, so it's interesting to see this here. And yeah, I see you mentioned this being one of her best performances. :haha: I also like the piano opening, but enjoyed the rest of it as well. She did seem comfortable and confident, which was nice to see.

    01. Candice Glover - Ordinary People: Another one you consider one of the contestant's best performances. :giggle:  This is the one I thought of ranking on top when I saw the list of what was left. I don't even know what I'd think of for her worst performance, but this one was really great. I enjoyed the jazzy arrangement too and her vocal was world class. LOL at the disqualification comment. :haha:

    05. Yeah, I'm pretty much in the same boat regarding him and that night. I see about this being another overdone song you love. Agree about him singing it well but feeling underwhelmed. Happy to see you enjoy my Clive Davis and Steve Perry comments! 😁

    04. Understandable about the two performances of hers that were under consideration for submission. Outside of this, I pretty much agree with the thoughts regarding this performance.

    03. Fair enough about the thoughts on this performance. OMG, I remember the American Idol video game. I never played it, but I'm sure it was fun. :lmao:

    02. I'm now curious to see which performance you thought was her weakest. Other than that, I agree with the thoughts on this performance.

    01. I don't have much to say here, but I pretty much agree with everything written here.

Since we're getting close to the next page, I would like to ask no one take the top post because I want to reserve it as another post to link more rankings. It looks like the first one is getting pretty long, and I mistakenly didn't reserve at least another post for the links after it. :haha:

    5. Elliott Yamin- Open Arms Ugh, Clive Davis... 🤢 Elliott has such a smooth voice, and he showed that in some parts of the song, but at times it started to get a little scratchy. The belting parts weren’t always pleasing to the ear too. 😕 This was definitely one of the best of the submitted songs though, so I have no issues with the placement.

    4. Kelly Clarkson- I Surrender - The fact that Kelly was able to sing this monster of a song while SICK, just goes to show how strong of a vocalist she is. 😱 I also preferred this to It’s Raining Men. While her voice was a little hoarse, Kelly still powered through, and she definitely deserves this #4 placement.

    3. Pia Toscano- Where Do Broken Hearts Go I don’t know, where does my broken heart after this one? Pia always seems to just miss the #1 spot in these rankings.  Anyway, I had such a hard time picking a “bad” performance from Pia because she simply DOES NOT have one! 😅 I just chose this one because I felt Pia could have incorporated the higher tempo into her movements on the stage (I really don’t even care about this, but I had to come up with a reason. 🙃

    2. Elise Testone- Let’s Stay Together I’m honestly confused to see this one here, as I preferred it to Whole Lotta Love:stealth: Her voice sounded beautiful on the runs and this performance is honestly giving Pia’s Where Do Broken Hearts Go a run for its money! 😬 I would have preferred for it to just be her and the piano for the whole performance too.

    1. Candice Glover- Ordinary People I swear, the user who submitted this submitted it by accident! :haha: I would have also submitted Chasing Pavements. This performance was really good. Candice’s runs were flawless and leave me confused as to why this is even here. While I don’t think this was better than Pia’s submission, it would definitely be my #2, based off these submissions. 😊

    5. Ugh, tell me about it. :/ Fair enough about the performance. I could hear some of the scratchiness in the performance. The belting was the worst parts of the performance, so no disagreements there.

    4. I don't have much to say here but agree with just about everything written.

    3. 💔. Maybe one of these days she will get the #1 spot, and if she does it will be well-earned. Agree with her not having a bad performance during her time on Idol and incorporating more higher tempo movements on stage.

    2. I'll just go ahead and ignore the first sentence. 😅 Outside of that, I don't really have any disagreements regarding the comments here.

    1. Once again, I don't have many disagreements with what was said here.

  6. Might as well finish this ranking off now. Let's see how the final five rank.

    5. Elliott Yamin - Open Arms

Elliott is one of my all-time favorite Idol contestants, and he is often considered to be one of the best male vocalists Idol’s ever had. In some cases, he is considered to be the best. He had a great underdog run as he made it all the way to third place. After a strong Top 4 showing in which he was considered to be the most vulnerable to elimination, he unfortunately didn’t have a great night during Top 3 though he wasn’t all that bad. It started with his first performance of the night with Open Arms. I was upset with Clive for giving Elliott this song to sing, as it’s not a song that suited him well (I later wanted to reach through my screen and strangle Clive for the song he gave Katharine, and I’m a nonviolent person for the most part :haha:). Elliott did as much as he could with it, but it was obvious he didn’t have the voice to sing it like Steve Perry; then again Steve Perry can’t sing like Steve Perry anymore either. :haha: In addition, he looked tentative on stage, which was disappointing considering how confident he looked the week before. With this said, while it was one of his weakest showings of the season, it’s one of the better performances submitted in this ranking and thus, it ranks high here.

    4. Kelly Clarkson - I Surrender

At #4 is the second of Kelly’s Top 4 performances as well as the second submission for this ranking. Needless to say, I Surrender is definitely the better of the two. Kelly held nothing back in this performance despite not being in the best of health. It was obvious her voice sounded really rough, yet she was still able to give a very strong performance. One can make an argument that this was the best performance of the night; I for one wouldn’t question it. What makes this performance even more impressive is that not only is it a difficult song to sing on its own, it came right after another performance of a difficult song in It’s Raining Men. It was easy to tell during the post-performance interview that her voice was really hoarse. With all of this said, I can only imagine how well she would’ve sung this song had she been healthy. It really says a lot about Kelly if this is considered to be one of her weakest performances. When I looked at the submissions, there was no doubt in my mind this was going to be a Top 5 performance in this ranking, and lo and behold here we are!

    3. Pia Toscano - Where Do Broken Hearts Go

Now to break a certain poster's heart. :giggle:These last three, heck four, performances were difficult to rank because they are all strong in their own right. However, something has to be ranked first, and Pia’s Top 12 performance Where Do Broken Hearts Go was the one that drew the short straw. It’s difficult to pick a bad Pia performance because she never really had one during her time on Idol. With that said, this would probably be my second least favorite of hers ahead of Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me. That doesn’t mean these two performances were bad, however. As for WDBHG go, she was vocally on point as she normally was. One thing I liked was that despite it being a ballad, she went with a more up-tempo arrangement which gave it new life. If there was a negative I had about the performance, it’s that because of the up-tempo arrangement, I would’ve liked to see Pia match the energy of the track more. She didn’t have to dance or anything like that; it’s just that she could’ve been more rhythmic. She did say she was overcoming tremendous stage fright, which may explain the lack of stage presence people were talking about regarding her. Regardless, it’s still one of the best performances in this ranking, and I have no regrets ranking it this high.

    2. Elise Testone - Let's Stay Together

Elise was my S11 favorite and one of my favorite Idol contestants in general. With that said, she was someone who could have a strong performance one week and a not so strong one the next. Her Top 11 performance of Let’s Stay Together was one of her stronger ones. This was especially critical since she was the lowest female vote getter the previous week and was saved by the judges after a critically panned performance of I’m Your Baby Tonight. I liked how it just started with her singing with the piano before the rest of the band came in. To be honest, I would’ve liked it if it were just her and the piano for the whole thing, but it was a great performance nonetheless. The main thing I liked about the performance was it looked like she was enjoying herself. It was certainly a different vibe from the week before. Despite this, she still landed in the B3 the following night, which I was disappointed to see, especially considering some of the other performances that week. Regardless, this is one of Elise’s best performances, and I felt she had much worse than this. Overall, this is my second favorite rendition of Let’s Stay Together on Idol and the second favorite of this ranking.

    1. Candice Glover - Ordinary People

Candice to me is one of the greatest singers Idol has ever had. She could handle pretty much anything, and she had one of the best Idol runs of any winner. A majority of her performances were great, and one of her strongest performances was her Top 10 Girls showing of Ordinary People. To be honest, I was kind of surprised to see this one submitted; for this ranking, I probably would’ve submitted One or Chasing Pavements, but we all have our opinions. On to the performance, I have to say I loved the jazzy arrangement she had for this performance. While I said Candice could sing just about anything, I feel she’s at her best when she’s singing jazz-like types of songs. In addition, some of the things she did with her voice were absolutely amazing. This is definitely a textbook case of someone making a song his/her own, and it’s one of the rare times in which I like an Idol performance more than the original. This alone would’ve been the best performance for many contestants; however, as we all know, Candice had better performances than this one, which speaks volumes of her talent. While I said the last three or four performances were difficult to rank, I felt this one should take the top spot of this ranking, though it should be disqualified due to how good it is. 😉

    05. Elliott Yamin - Open Arms

    04. Kelly Clarkson - I Surrender

    03. Pia Toscano - Where Do Broken Hearts Go

    02. Elise Testone - Let's Stay Together

    01. Candice Glover - Ordinary People

    10. Allison Iraheta- I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing - The reason why I submitted this song for Allison is because it was one of the only performances where her voice started to kind of annoy me. There were rough parts to this performance and I just wanted to stop this listening. 🤷‍♂️ I did feel the passion in her singing though, which is something I lacked from Jessica’s version. Overall, I think this is a fair spot, considering the songs that were submitted.

    9. Maddie Poppe- Going Going Gone This was Maddie’s worst performance? I thought the one with the electric guitar was worse than this, but fair enough. 🤷‍♂️ First of all, this performance reminds me of how annoyed I was seeing Katy lay all her support out for Maddie, when Gabby’s coronation song was WAY better (in my opinion.) 😒 Anyway, this performance wasn’t vocally impressive and like you said, it felt like she was just going through the motions. It’s certainly the better coronation song submission on this list though. 😅

    8. Syesha Mercado- Hit Me Up To be honest, I was probably more disappointed with the producers than Syesha after this performance. This was complete SABOTAGE, and might I add, unnecessary sabotage, because no one was making a dent in that David/David finale! 😅 I agree that Syesha made the best of the situation and thought her vocals were PRETTY good. After a re-watch, I liked this performance a lot more than I thought I would, so maybe I will agree that there are other performances I like less. 🤔

    7. Carrie Underwood- Love Is A Battlefield My main issue with this performance is that it came across as very shouty. I liked that she worked the stage, but vocally, the performance was very one note. I personally think you ranked this one too high, but that fact that it’s a guilty pleasure of yours explains everything. :giggle:

    6. Kelly Clarkson- It’s Raining Men The fact that this was Kelly’s worst performance just shows how good of a contestant she was. 😃 I agree that she didn’t match the energy the song required in terms of stage presence, but vocally, I thought she was there. Overall, while this is Kelly’s worst, I agree that it is one of the best submissions.

    10. Fair enough about everything written here. I did hear the rough parts in her voice during my re-watch.

    9. I agree that If It Makes You Happy (the one with the electric guitar) was her worst performance. I disagree about Gabby's coronation song being better, but fair enough. Pretty much in agreement with the thoughts on the performance, especially with it being better than the other coronation song submitted. 😂

    8. This did appear to be a flagrant case of sabotage. There was practically no chance she was going to break up the all David finale; as I mentioned the producers probably didn't want to chance it. :haha: Again, pretty much in agreement regarding the thoughts about this performance.

    7. I can definitely see how this performance can come off as shouty. I did say in the write-up I would rank it in the bottom half if it wasn't such a guilty pleasure. 😂 Random thought, but now I'm imagining Brooke doing something similar to what Carrie did on this song instead of her acoustic version. 🤣

    6. Once again, pretty much in agreement when it comes to the thoughts about this performance.

    - Yay! ❤️

    - Aww the other Haley comment. :blushingwave:

Yeah, I guess we will have to wait and see if this affects anything on the show. :( Haha thank you! And me too. ^_^

That is so sad to hear. :( It's the most difficult thing about owning a pet, but important to continue to be there for them even when it's so difficult. :broken: Thank you. Yes, it seems so. :haha: I am itching more and more to have an animal, but don't know realistically how soon it could happen. Oh, well at least you have a lot to keep you busy. :haha:

I feel even MORE like a panelist from TMS now that I pieced together a bunch of clues for a wrong answer. :haha: At least my first guess was right. :giggle:Yes, I am glad we agree too! The censoring is definitely easy to decipher. :haha: Oh, I see about the profanity. Aww that's too bad about No One. :( Oh, I don't know if I knew she won a season of The Voice or not, but that's great! Yay for us having the same favorite. ❤️

    :lmao:

    10. Allison Iraheta - I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing: I think I mentioned earlier that I love this song a lot, but it is overdone on these singing shows. :( A lot of the versions aren't too impressive, but Allison's is probably up there with my favorites. I really love her voice on the song, although agree she had many stronger showings. Don't Speak is my least favorite from her too.

    09. Maddie Poppe - Going Going Gone: I was not a fan of this song (or Maddie) when it was performed, so I didn't care for it much. Like you, the song has grown on me over time and I like Maddie a lot more now too. This was fine enough for me, although Gabby's coronation performance was still my favorite.

    08. Syesha Mercado - Hit Me Up: Yeah, this was not a great song choice to showcase much of her talent, but I thought she did what she could with it. The beginning was the strongest for me, but the chorus fell kind of flat.

    07. Carrie Underwood - Love Is A Battlefield: lol I love how this is a guilty pleasure for you and the soft spot you have for sweet girls doing songs like this. :haha: I do enjoy it somewhat, but wasn't one of my favorites from Carrie (hence submitting it for this). I would be curious to see her perform this song now though.

    06. Kelly Clarkson - It's Raining Men: I know this is viewed as one of Kelly's worst performances, if not her worst, but I don't think it's that bad. Like you said, Kelly at her worst is still better than many at their best. :haha:  It's too bad she was sick this week, although that showed for me more on her other performance. This was still solid, and I am again curious to see how she would sing this song these days. 😮

    - 👍

    - She didn't look too impressed with Haley when she was a mentor during S6. :/ Considering she had a theme named after her, she could've been more gracious. :/ :haha:

Yeah, we'll see what happens from here. Hopefully, there isn't too much drama.

It is the most difficult thing about owning a pet. :( Still I think the positives outweigh the negatives. I completely agree about being there for them no matter the circumstances. Completely understandable about wanting to have an animal but not being realistic to do so at this time. I'm sure the time will come when you'll be able to have one. I do have a lot to keep me busy. I'll definitely try to get to the routines this upcoming weekend. :haha:

I'll just get rid of the spoiler tags now. It does feel that way. I've had that happen to me a couple of times, with the main one being Baby Alien (then again I don't think many got that one correct). :haha: I was just better off saying the word since it was so easy to decipher; I guess I was trying to be polite. :haha: It's too bad I don't like the song more than I do. Based on my Internet search, she apparently won S12 and became the second female coach to win on the show. What can I say, game recognizes game or in this case, taste recognize taste. 😉 :haha:

    :/ :lmao:

    10. I agree about the song being overdone on these singing shows. With that said, I do think Allison had one of the better performances of it despite it being one of her weaker performances. I'm happy to see the agreement about Don't Speak being her weakest performance.

    09. Fair enough about the initial thoughts on the song and Maddie. I think I explained why I wasn't a fan of Gabby's, but in case I didn't, it's because it sounded as if it were all over the place genre-wise. One minute it's gospel, the next it's R&B, after that it's country. I was like what does the song want to be. :haha:

    08. I pretty much agree with the thoughts on this performance, especially with it not being a great song choice to showcase her talent. Fair enough about the beginning being the strongest.

    07. What can I say, I'm easy. :haha: Even taking away the guilty pleasure component, while it was certainly one of her weakest performances, I felt she had a few that were worse (the main two being MacArthur Park and If You Don't Know Me By Now). I think she would be a lot better on this song if she were to sing it now.

    06. I don't have much to say but I pretty much agree with everything written. 👍

  9. Time to kick off the Top 10!

    10. Allison Iraheta - I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing

Kicking off the Top 10 is the second I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing submission. Comparing it to the Jessica Sanchez version, Allison’s was much better. However, it was still one of her weakest performances of the season although it’s not my least favorite of hers (that would be Don’t Speak if anyone’s curious). Nonetheless, this performance still has a few positives going for it. First, Allison definitely put her heart into her singing. Though there were some rough spots vocally, it did appear she was trying to connect to the song. Furthermore, I liked the orchestral arrangement in the beginning and hoped it would last throughout the performance. As for the negatives, the first is although I liked the beginning, I didn’t care for the rest of the arrangement. There were times when the music was too loud and I could barely hear Allison. In addition, it’s a song that has been done to death on Idol, so I was just over it. Overall, while not one of Allison’s better performances, I do think it’s one of the best ones in this ranking and thus, I decided it would be a great performance to kick off the Top 10 with.

    9. Maddie Poppe - Going Going Gone

Maddie was perhaps the most consistent contestant during S16. She didn’t have too many hiccups during her winning run, and the ones that were weren’t as big as some of the other contestants. With that said, her coronation song performance of Going Going Gone was one of her weaker showings. Then again, the coronation song performances are usually among the weakest of the contestants mainly due to a lack of familiarity with the song. Nonetheless, it’s my second least favorite of hers, only ahead of If It Makes You Happy. It looked to me as if she was going through the motions of the performance. With that said, however, she looked the most comfortable with her song, and I thought it was the best of the three that night. In addition, the song itself is pretty catchy although it grew on me after not being much of a fan of it. With everything said, it is definitely better than the other coronation song submitted and is one of the better performances overall in this ranking. Thus, it occupies a spot in my Top 10 here.

    8. Syesha Mercado - Hit Me Up

I’ve expressed my opinions on Syesha multiple times, so I’ll go straight into the performance. Syesha was someone who had an interesting run on Idol. She was in the B2/B3 multiple times and perhaps received the most negative feedback from the judges. Despite all of this, she managed to make it all the way to the Top 3. Because of this, it was thought the producers were afraid she could potentially break up the David/David finale (this is pure speculation on my behalf); thus they gave her the song Hit Me Up from the Happy Feet soundtrack. The song itself is fun and catchy; however, as with Ashley and Sir Duke, it does no one any favors when it comes to advancing in the competition although in Syesha’s case she had no choice. With that said, Syesha did the best she could with it. She performed with great energy, and I don’t think she sounded too bad on it. Plus she had some really nice and dare I say sensual moves. I would say this is one of her more underrated performances, but as mentioned it wasn’t one for the circumstances. Regardless, I felt she had worse performances than this, and I feel it’s one of the better ones here.

    7. Carrie Underwood - Love Is A Battlefield

Carrie is someone I liked on the show but became a bigger fan of post-Idol. With that said she wasn’t the most consistent contestant, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing (after all, my all-time favorite contestant had one of the most inconsistent Idol runs of all time :haha:). One of her weaker performances of the season was her Top 8 showing of Love Is A Battlefield. After taking on Ann Wilson and coming out on top three weeks prior, Carrie decided to take on another female powerhouse rock vocalist in Pat Benatar. Unfortunately, she fell short this time around. There were some pitch issues, plus she flubbed some lines in the chorus. With that said, the reason this performance is this high is because it’s a huge guilty pleasure of mine. :haha: I guess I have a soft spot for sweet and wholesome girls trying to be this tough bad:censored: (see also Haley Scarnato’s Queen of the Night performance). :giggle: One positive is Carrie tried to move around and work the stage more, considering a major knock on her during the season was her lack of stage presence. Based solely on the performance, this would be in the bottom half of the ranking; however, I enjoyed it more than most of the submissions and thus its high rank.

    6. Kelly Clarkson - It's Raining Men

Just missing out on the Top 5 is the first of Kelly’s submissions. Kelly needs no introduction, so I’m going to hop right into the performance. Her first Top 4 showing It’s Raining Men was definitely her weakest performance of the season, IMO. The song itself is a powerful and high energy number, but while Kelly provided the power, she lacked the energy and stage presence. In addition, while I just said she had the power, her voice didn’t sound as strong as it normally did. With all of this said, Kelly was sick this week and therefore gets a bit of a pass for this performance. The song itself is very challenging to sing when healthy, so imagine how difficult it is when one is not at 100%. Furthermore, while this was Kelly’s weakest performance, she at her worst is better than most contestants at their best. To take it even further, this was better than two other performances that week (Tamyra’s New Attitude and Justin’s P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing). While this was Kelly’s worst effort, it’s still one of the best performances submitted and therefore, I have no qualms ranking it fairly high.

    10. Allison Iraheta - I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing

    09. Maddie Poppe - Going Going Gone

    08. Syesha Mercado - Hit Me Up

    07. Carrie Underwood - Love Is A Battlefield

    06. Kelly Clarkson - It's Raining Men

    - It's fine. They had to be somewhere and at least this is the higher portion of the list. :haha: Which you also just said. I guess we know who Gwen's favorite was then. :giggle:

lol yes! No wonder I didn't recognize him from your gif. :haha:

That is so true. It also makes us much more appreciative of them and things in general, I think. ❤️ Yay, that is great!

Not sure, but I see a lot of Varchie and Barchie fans when I look on Twitter. :haha:  Nobody is as loud as the Bughead fans though. Yeah, this is what I wonder. :(  They were together in real life for awhile, broke up rather recently, and the show hasn't been on since spring. I hope they're on good terms with each other, but I'm not sure. I see about Cheryl. :giggle: Nooo, I must get through them all!  :dead:  Oh yay, thank you so much for sharing! I'm excited to look through this. :haha:

Aw, I'm so sorry to hear about the one she lost. :( It's so heartbreaking, but I'm sure she lived a wonderful life with that many years. ❤️ I'm glad the others are still in good health.  I'm in the mindset that if I wouldn't plan for a baby without being financially ready, I shouldn't for a pet either. :haha: So true!

omg I am carded without fail every time. :lmao: My mom looks much younger than her age too, so I got the gene and am not complaining. :haha:

Of course not. I know you don't. :haha:

No need to apologize. It was still fun. I do really like playing detective. :haha:

Alicia Keys: Yay, I'm glad I was able to get it and with the first clue! 😄  It was a bit tricky. Definitely did not pick up on the second one, but I could have if I looked into it more since I see it listed right there on her Wikipedia page. :dead: I like to think I would have gotten the third clue. I am also a fan of Alicia and really enjoy her music, as well as her as a person. I agree she is beautiful, with or without makeup. It's crazy she would be ridiculed for not wanting to wear any.  Let the woman's skin breathe! (!) She can pull off a lot of styles and always looks great. lol at your censoring. :giggle: She can be vulgar? 😮 That is a surprise.  I get the appeal of her speaking voice and glad you enjoy it so much. :teeheewave:  Her first three albums were my favorites as well. The Diary of Alicia Keys is the one I played the most too. ❤️ Aww, I'm surprised by your comments on "No One." I love that song, but fair enough. She is an extremely all around talented musician. I haven't seen much of her on The Voice, but I imagine she's a great coach. I think "Tell You Something" is my favorite of the songs you posted. I also remember that medley from The Grammy's. It was so great. ❤️

    - I did listen to it, and he does sound very nice here. I'm glad you enjoyed and got the reference. :haha:

    - Yeah, at least those performances have that going for them. Apparently we do. 😂 If only she was as kind to another Haley... :/ :haha:

Needless to say, Pop got a serious makeover. 🤣

I completely agree with the first two sentences. Thank you. ❤️ 🤗

Oh, I see about Varchie, Barchie, and Bughead. So they were together for a while. Seeing that the show hasn't been on since Spring and that they broke up recently, I guess no one knows what their working relationship will be like. 🤷‍♂️ Hopefully they will be on at least amicable terms. As I said, I'm sure you'll be able to get through them all. I hope you enjoy them when you have the time to read them!

Yeah, she was a sweet dog who was very energetic in her younger years, so it was difficult to see her have a hard time moving around during her last days. :( She did live a wonderful life. I'm glad as well. That is a great mindset to have. I don't have any children or pets of my own, and I don't think I'm at the point to where I'm financially confident enough to do so. It looks like we're in the same boat regarding this. :haha: Heh, I'm way behind on The Voice; I barely finished the auditions and haven't started the Battle Rounds yet. In addition, I have yet to watch the Nicole/Derek DWTS routines. 😂

It does appear to be all in the genes. :lmao:

    🤗

Oh, OK. It's good to see you having fun with it.

Yep. 👏 The second clue would've been picked up if one was familiar with her upbringing. I see your point about the last clue. Happy to see you're a fan of hers as an artist and as a person. I definitely agree about her being beautiful and especially your thoughts over the makeup "controversy". No arguments from me about her styles she can pull off. I guess it's easy to see what I'm talking about even with the censoring. :haha: She isn't too crass or anything like that, but she will utter some profanity every now and then. Glad you get the appeal of her speaking voice. Great minds think alike regarding the first three albums, especially the one that's played the most. 👍 Yeah, out of her singles, that's the one I care about the least. :( Definitely agree about her being an all around talented musician. I haven't seen her much on The Voice either, but it looks like she won a season, so maybe that says what we need to know about her as a coach. Tell You Something is my favorite out of the posted ones as well. That medley was great indeed.

I loved her as a coach on the Voice (and I so desperately want her back), so she gets bonus points from that. I always liked her as an artist, but I never really found her attractive. I guess I can see where you’re coming from with this one though. 🤷‍♂️ Like you mentioned, I also like her more toned down outfit choices. So true about her voice though, I always found it very soothing! 🙂 I will say that an Idol contestant truly gave a “captivating” performance of one of Alicia’s songs... :giggle:

At least this one isn't as harsh as the others. :haha: Fair enough about not finding her really attractive (I obviously disagree 😛), but at least you seem to like her both as an artist and a coach on The Voice. At least you agree with me about her outfits and her voice. As for the "captivating" performance of one of her songs by an Idol contestant, I hope it isn't what I think it is... :/ :haha:

  12. Celebrity Crush #5: Alicia Keys

    alicia-keys-beauty.jpg&f=1&nofb=1 Alicia-Keys-2020-Tickets-1024x1024.jpg&f=1&nofb=1 alicia-keys-that-grape-juice-2016-19191010101919110910101010-600x773.jpg&f=1&nofb=1 Afros-Braids-By-Alicia-Keys-590x758.jpg&f=1&nofb=1

@miss denise got this one right from the first clue. Before I get into the Alicia Keys write-up here are the clues and how they relate to her:

    Clue #1:

When criminals in this world appear

And break the laws that they should fear

And frighten all who see or hear

The cry goes up both far and near

As mentioned, these are lyrics to the theme song of the 1960s cartoon Underdog. Alicia has a song called Underdog from her latest album Alicia (which I need to listen to soon). 😅

    Clue #2:

    A Gordon Ramsey Show

The Gordon Ramsey show I was referring to was Hell’s Kitchen. Alicia grew up in the Hell’s Kitchen section of Manhattan, New York.

Clue #3 (Or What Would've Been Clue #3):

Has Something In Common With A Previously Posted Crush and the Thread’s Mascot

The two people are Nick Jonas and my ultimate crush Gwen Stefani. :haha: All three are/were coaches on The Voice.

Now for Alicia herself. She is someone who I always thought was a cutie. However, I think she has become more beautiful over the years, even when she didn’t wear makeup which highlighted her skin imperfections. Speaking of which, some people thought it was a gimmick or her going out of her way to shame women who relied heavily on makeup. 🙄 About a week ago, she explained the reason she didn’t wear makeup all that often was because she became addicted to it. At the end of the day, it’s her choice whether she does or not; I still think she’s beautiful regardless.

On the subject of her looks, she has great bone structure and a beautiful smile. In addition, I love her hair and fashion style. For the former, the braids she wore early in her career is probably my favorite of hers although I like her other styles as well. Regarding the latter, she can rock the urban look or a more sophisticated classy look. One of the things I like about her is she doesn’t try to be this *** symbol and wear very revealing outfits. She often carries herself with pride and class, though she can be urban and vulgar from time to time (although nothing too bad). Speaking of ***, the last thing I want to mention is I think she has a sexy speaking voice; I could listen to her talk all day. :stealth: :haha:

Now to talk about the main thing she’s known for: her music. I’ve pretty much enjoyed everything she's put out thus far although as mentioned earlier I have yet to listen to anything from her latest album outside of Underdog. :haha: My favorite albums are definitely her first three; I played the crap out of them with her second album, The Diary of Alicia Keys, being my absolute favorite. When she isn’t pushing too hard, she has a singing voice that’s just about as lovely as her speaking one. In addition to singing, she of course is a classically trained pianist as well as an accomplished songwriter. With that said, I have never cared for No One because that was a case in which I felt she pushed her voice too hard. I think she wrote the song out of her range which was a bit of a surprise. Outside of No One, I don’t think there are too many of her songs that are in that vein so to speak.

In addition to her music, I know she’s dabbled in acting although the main one I know is the movie Smokin’ Aces (which I have not seen). Also, as mentioned, she was a coach on The Voice for a few seasons, plus she has hosted the past two Grammys Award shows to mostly positive reviews. I also know she released a book earlier this year, which is something else I may look into.

I’ll end this write-up by posting a few of my favorite songs of hers (her non-singles), a couple of videos, and her dual piano performance from the 2019 Grammys. I hope anyone enjoys them.

    15. David Archuleta- We Can Work It Out It was clear that Archie was not comfortable when singing this song. He forgot the lyrics multiple times, and his vocals weren’t the best either. I thought his voice did sound pretty good during some parts of the song though. 👍 I am pleasantly surprised to see this submission rank this high, as I thought it would be in the first batch. 😅 I’m curious to see what other Archie performances you thought were worse (probably some of my favorites... :/Also, I wonder who the other user is that submitted this song... :lmao:

    14. Kris Allen- What’s Going On I actually didn’t mind this performance. I thought Kris showed a ton of ARTISTRY, and while it wasn’t as loud as Adam’s performance, I preferred the more intimate setting. While it’s not my favorite Kris performance, I thought it was much better than his live performance of No Boundaries:giggle:

    13. Hollie Cavanagh- Flashdance... What A Feeling - Ooh, Gwen Stefani appears AGAIN!  :giggle: While Hollie is one of the cutest Idol finalists, this performance was not cute. 😬 Yeah, this was NOT a good one for Hollie. It was one of, if not her worst, vocal showing of the season. Her stage presence consisted of walking around the stage in heels, which was not the right energy for the song. I thought Hollie was going to get eliminated after this one, but thankfully she didn’t... 😅

    12. Ashley Hess- Sir Duke Ah look, one of the best performance of the season shows up. Just goes to show how great of a season Season 17 was. 😅 Anyway, I really enjoyed this performance. While I think Ashley should have picked a song that would fit her strong suit for this round, I felt she did a great job, considering the song choice. Her stage presence was amazing and I feel like she showed a side that a lot of people (including the judges :/) had been asking from her. I think this is a nice spot for this submission. 🙂

    11. Lauren Alaina- (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman Ugh yes, the outfit and hairstyle were atrocious! 🤢 Was this Lauren’s worst performance? No (somehow the If I Die Young trainwreck managed to escaped this ranking.) Did I like it? Not really. The vocals were average at best, and the performance failed to show off Lauren’s BEAUTIFUL country voice (which is the sole reason why I appreciated her run doing the show.)  The best part of this video is the I ❤️ PIA (and Lauren) poster.

    15. Pretty much agree with the comments here. As I mentioned in the write-up, I enjoy it in a guilty pleasure kind of way, which is why I ranked it here. As for which performances I thought were worse, they were You're The VoiceSweet Caroline, and especially With You. I'd like to know this myself. :giggle:

    14. Fair enough about the thoughts on the performance, especially it being better than No Boundaries.

    13. She does appear again! I missed a chance to make another reference! :dead: As for our cute pixie, again I'm pretty much in agreement with your thoughts regarding this performance. I knew she would be in the B3 after it; however, I didn't think she would be eliminated that soon. Then again, Colton went home two weeks later when it was thought he would make it pretty far...

    12. Sadly, I can't say I disagree with the first sentence that much. It speaks volumes about that season. Fair enough about the thoughts on the performance. Under different circumstances, it probably would be looked at in a better light.

    11. Absolutely no disagreements regarding the first sentence. :haha: I agree with it not being her worst performance (I would add Wild One along with If I Die Young as far as her worst performances are concerned). Fair enough about everything else. I knew the Pia (and Lauren) poster would be popular. :haha:

    15. David Archuleta - We Can Work It Out - This should have shown up earlier. There was no connection to the song, or to anything. And yes, he was not comfortable.  I don't know if it's his weakest performance, because ... I believe there were a couple of songs, that were a bit pitchy. I don't remember which ones, but there were.

    14. Kris Allen - What's Going On - This is a good placement, and to be honest, other than it not being powerful .... I thought he did good with this

    13. Hollie Cavanagh - Flashdance...What A Feeling - Not a good song choice for her. Like a fish out of water, but she is adorable and overall a good vocalist. A fair ranking.

    12. Ashley Hess - Sir Duke - Someone submitted this one, before I did, so I went with Madison. I still shake my head, at her not making Top 10. Her vocals sound really great. All of her vocals, sounded great. I probably would have her show up later, in this ranking, even though, I do consider this her weakest performance (only because the rest were so great)

    11. Lauren Alaina - (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman - Lauren wasn't a fav of mine, but ... I liked her well enough, and ...she can sing. Yeah, that hot mess of an outfit was  O.o . This is a good placement, especially considering some still left, to be ranked.

    15. Fair enough about the thoughts on the performance. Honestly, I was going to place it lower, but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

    14. Again, fair enough about the thoughts.

    13. Pretty much agree with everything here.

    12. Yeah, despite the performance not being suitable for the situation, it was still disappointing she wasn't in the Top 10. Fair enough about the thoughts on the performance though.

    11. Fair enough about the thoughts on Lauren and the performance. Definitely agree about the outfit.

    15. David Archuleta - We Can Work It Out: Awww. :blushingwave:  I'm glad it's at least this high even though I would have it higher. I loved all of his performances for different reasons. I know he messed up some lyrics here, but I still enjoyed it. :blushingwave: I like this style of song on his and the studio recording highlights his abilities much better. I never thought it was that bad. :broken: I'm glad it at least ranked in the top half. LOL at asking who are the two that submitted this. :dead:

    14. Kris Allen - What's Going On: Not two of my submissions back to back. 😮  lol I actually thought this would be higher and am kind of surprised. This was a good performance and it was hard for me to submit as a "worst" one. I again loved all of his performances to some capacity and I guess prefer the songs of any others that might be considered weaker. I see your point about the lack of frustration feeling in it, although I personally love the acoustic arrangement.

    13. Hollie Cavanagh - Flashdance...What A Feeling: I'm also a fan of Hollie, but did not like this performance and would rank it lower. :blushingwave: I don't think her voice could ever really sound bad, but this didn't work for me. I guess it's a combination of the song and all you said about the awkwardness.

    12. Ashley Hess - Sir Duke: I don't mind this performance and thought it was fine. I get that it wasn't really a "fighting" kind of performance and I believe they chose just one that would be either their victory song or the one to compete with? :? Either way, definitely would have gone with something else that would work better. She sang and performed it fine enough though, but it wasn't impactful for the situation.

    11. Lauren Alaina - (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman: Not three of my submissions in one set. 😮  I'm being dramatic. :giggle: I am very pleased with how high this ranks, especially since I know you're not a huge Lauren fan. I'm so glad she (and this performance) have grown on you.  i thought her vocal was good, but I do appreciate you saying she could take it on better now. OMG the diaper comment. We know who was responsible.... :giggle: :dead:

    15. Understandable about the opinion, especially considering who we're talking about here. I haven't heard the studio recording, but I'm sure he sounded better on it. The mystery is driving be bonkers! I think this may be a case for Sherlock Scherzy. 😉

    source.gif&f=1&nofb=1

(It's just an excuse for me to post  more Nicole :giggle: )

    14. Wow, they are two of your submissions. :( at being kind of surprised this wasn't higher. Fair enough about the thoughts about the performance. Nice to see you enjoyed the arrangement at least.

    13. Fair enough about the performance. I was actually going to place this lower, but it grew on me during my re-watch though it's still my least favorite of hers.

    12. Pretty much my thoughts on the performance. As for the second sentence, I wonder if the contestants have two performances for this situation. If so, she definitely should've picked her other one.

    11. Geez, I did place three of yours in this set. :haha: At least they're in the upper half in the ranking instead of the lower half. I'm happy to see how happy you are about this placement. Yeah, needless to say that person did not do her job well. Only Haley came away looking somewhat decent that night. :/

Oh! OMG I know Pop and Pop's Diner is a central location on the show. He looks very different though. :haha:

Yes, that is for sure about the health care workers. Thank goodness for that! Oh my, I am so sorry you had to experience that, but thankfully you made it through and I hope are in good health. :(

Thanks! It's hard to tell. There are a lot of hardcore Varchie shippers, as well as Barchie... but Bughead is the favorite ship. Lili (who plays Betty) and Cole were dating in real life for a long time, but I believe they broke up now. :(  Not sure how that might affect things on the show. OMG. :dead: Cheryl did make a move on Archie early on, but I don't think that will happen again. I am ready to overtake them all.  :dead:

Yeah, that was one of the main things I looked for in an apartment. Aww yeah, understandable. 😢 Thank you, that's so kind. ❤️ lol that's okay. :haha:

I know I can. :giggle: I hope I get carded until I'm 60! :dead:  Haha it is. And LOL that age gap always amazes me. :haha:

That's okay. Aww lol I was just kidding. :blushingwave: I'm fine with you liking them the same. :haha:

Oh no, I put so many pieces together just to be wrong again.:lmao: Oh well. OMG it was? 😮  Ahhhh I see. Oh, and now I can match the first clue in two ways from the songs "Underdog" and "Superwoman." 😮  I'm going to try to figure out how this second clue fits now, but of course I will not make an announcement who it is. :haha: Haha yes! At least I got to pretend I was on the show for a bit. :lmao:

    * Looks up a picture of Pop from Riverdale *

😮. To say he looks different from the comics would be an understatement! :dead:

I think this pandemic really highlights how much work health care workers actually put in and how they're on the frontline when it comes to illness and injury. Yay for small miracles. :haha: Fortunately, I haven't had any experiences with it since, and I can say I am in great (at least decent) health. Thank you. 🤗

I wonder how many Varchie shippers are from the show and how many are from the comics. I know there are a lot of Barchie shippers from the comics; however, I'm not sure how many there are from the show. It makes sense for Bughead to be as popular as it is; it's one I can be down with and besides, Jughead did say something along the likes of Betty being the one girl he can tolerate for the most part. :haha: The two who play the characters dated? Seeing that they're not together, I wonder how that affects their working relationship. 🤔 It appears Cheryl isn't that interested in him on the show; she's much more interested in the comics. :haha: I know you'll overtake them all, though Betty may be a bit of a challenge. :haha: Speaking of the comics, I did manage to find a site where they - and other comics - can be read! I'll post the link:

    OMG Beau Peep (Archie Comics)

That's good to see. Fortunately, things aren't too bad with them at this point. She had three, but one was put to sleep a little over a month ago. She was 17 and had a hard time walking and hearing. :( It was tough, but it was probably for the better. You're welcome. 👍 So much to do, so little time. :haha:

Lucky you! :haha: I was carded when I was out shopping two weeks ago; prior to that, it's been years since someone asked for ID. Yeah, that age gap is definitely something to be amazed at.

Oh, OK. I don't want to intentionally break any hearts now. :haha:

Sorry that all of that hard work went to waste. 💔 :( I'll most likely post who it is later this evening. However, I'm going to read and reply to the other posts first before doing so. We'll see how it goes. I hope it was fun; I didn't think about the clues being similar to what they are there. :haha:

Yeah, that was a rude awakening. :lmao: Thanks. My brother texted me some pictures the other night of him playing video games so I think he's found a work/life balance. :giggle: Oh no, but at least you didn't have to miss any of the movie. I would hate that. Oh that's right, you did share about having kidney stones before. :( Ugh, so sorry.

    Thanks.

I'll reply to this first part now without the spoiler tags. Yes, you are three for four so far. :giggle: Oh, if you are able to share the website, that would be fun. ❤️ Interesting response here! I think that love triangle is much more prominent in the comics (from what I've heard) than the show, although there have been hints of it. I'm not huge on Varchie and thought Betty's crush on him was cute at the beginning, so I might prefer them (although I also love them as best friends). Basically, Archie needs to be with a new character played by me. :giggle:

Love that. ❤️ Yes, we are allowed to have animals! I would ideally want to have money saved up before adopting though to ensure I have enough to care for them. :( One of my friends thought I was weird for that. Oh, I hope so and let me know if you do!

It is pretty common and lol at the 30 year olds playing teens. :giggle: He is and yeah, I wouldn't have known. :haha: Although one of my favorites is how the core cast of girls from Pretty Little Liars have a 11 year age gap despite playing teens all the same age. :giggle:

It's a no judgement zone. :giggle:  At least from us.

    I love musicals! :bobo:

I'll keep my eyes open. :shiftywave:  NOOOOOOOO. 😭  But lol it's okay.

      Reveal hidden contents

You said you'd post more clues unless someone got it, so I must be wrong. :lmao: Hmm this is interesting.... the connection I came up with is his show Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted... and Sara Bareilles has a song called Uncharted. And then when I did a search I found several articles calling her an underdog regarding her Grammy nominations. But most of all!!!! She has a song called Weirdos Make Great Superheroes and Underdog (the cartoon) is a superhero! I feel like I'm a panelist on The Masked Singer putting all these things together. :dead:  But am I right? 😮

Keeping up with the theme, that's Pop, a character from the Archie comics who runs a restaurant the gang, especially Jughead frequents. :haha:

I can imagine. :lmao: OK, that's good he seems to have a nice work/life balance. Those in the health field definitely have put their time in during this thing.

Yeah, I was fortunate but have learned my lesson then. It also helped the movie wasn't that long. :haha: Ugh, that was certainly not a fun time. I would say it was the worst pain I have ever experienced and wouldn't wish it on anyone. :(

    🤗

I'll see if I can find it some time tomorrow. It probably is more prominent in the comics. From what I've seen, a number of fans aren't too big on the Varchie ship and would rather see him with Betty. I'm sure that would be great; however, not only would you have to compete with Betty and Veronica, you would have to watch out for Cheryl Blossom as well. :giggle:

That's good you're allowed to have animals. Understandable about having enough money to ensure you can take care of them. My aunt has two dogs and they are getting up there in age, so they need to be looked at more often. Needless to say it isn't cheap. As long as you believe in your dream, that's the main thing that matters. It'll probably be much later down the road, as I have a bunch of other things I need to look at first. :dead:

To be fair, a lot of people in their 20s look like they can pass as teens. :haha: That is weird he's the oldest of the core despite looking like he could be the youngest. :haha: Wow at the age gap between the core cast of girls from Pretty Little Liars. 😮 :giggle:

Yeah, some of us try to be open minded about most things. :/ :haha:

I enjoy a good musical now and then as well.

I won't make any promises. Sorry. 💔 At least I don't dislike him.

I'll say it's not Sara Bareilles, though that's a good guess and never considered how the clues would come to that conclusion. I did say that I would post up to three clues unless someone got it right before then; however, a previous guess was correct. I just wanted to add an extra clue and will explain their connection as well as the third clue I had in mind when I post that person. I just ask not to say who it is until I post her. 🥺 I'll try to have it up tomorrow. From now on, I'll post all three clues at the same time. This is kind of like The Masked Singer now that I think about it. :haha:

I'm about to call it a night, so I'll respond to the comments on the performance some time tomorrow.

  16. 15. David Archuleta - We Can Work It Out

I know there are two faithful followers of this thread who are huge Archie fans, so I’m sure what the reactions will be to this placement.  I liked Archie well enough during his season; however, he had some poor performances, with the main ones being his up-tempo numbers. His Top 12 showing of We Can Work It Out was one of them. During the pre-performance video, he expressed concerns about the performance because he wasn’t all that familiar with The Beatles’ catalog. Nonetheless, he picked this song because he knew Stevie Wonder covered it. Unfortunately, the performance couldn’t have gone worse for him if he tried. There were multiple times when he forgot the lyrics, plus he moved around awkwardly on stage. It was easy to see he was neither comfortable with the song nor the bigger stage. Fortunately, he was able to adjust to it the following weeks. While this is one of my least favorite Archie performances, I preferred it to some of his others, and I enjoy it as a guilty pleasure. Thus, I decided to place it somewhere in the middle of this ranking. Also, this was the performance that was submitted twice, anyone want to wager who submitted this? :P

    14. Kris Allen - What's Going On

Here we have the second of Kris’ submissions, and both of them happen to be from the S8 Finale. They were two of his weakest showings though none of them were my least favorite of his. With everything said, What’s Going On is definitely the better of the two submissions for this ranking. To start with, I will say Kris didn’t sound all that bad on the song. However, the problem I had with it - if you can call it that - is that when I think of the song, I think of the soul and emotions Marvin poured into it. It was as if you could feel the frustration coming from him. Kris’ version, however, appeared to lack these things, which severely limited the song’s impact. It was too smooth for my liking. Moreover, I didn’t care too much for the acoustic arrangement in this performance because once again it took away from the song’s meaning and impact. Having said all of this, this performance is still better than some of the other submissions and therefore, it ended up in the upper half of this ranking.

    13. Hollie Cavanagh - Flashdance...What A Feeling

Hollie is one of the most adorable Idol contestants. I liked and rooted for her during the season, especially after she was criticized for Perfect. Prior to that, however, she had a three week stretch in which she had some poor performances after a strong start. The worst of the three was probably her Top 8 showing of Flashdance...What A Feeling. This was Hollie’s first up-tempo performance of the season thus the first time she really moved on stage. It was obvious she wasn’t used to moving around much because she looked awkward and unsure of herself during all of the transitions. Also, I think this affected her vocally because she didn’t sound as strong as she usually did. When it comes down to everything, I think she simply overthought the performance. Having said all of that, it appears she gave it her all during the performance, so though the performance itself wasn’t all that good, it wasn’t from a lack of effort. In addition, though it’s my least favorite performance of hers, it has grown on me over time. Overall, I think this is a good spot for it all things considered.

    12. Ashley Hess - Sir Duke

Ashley was one of my S17 favorites and is one of my all-time favorite non-finalists. I enjoyed all of her performances to some extent and even voted for her after Fix You after not voting in years with the hope she would be voted into the finals. Unfortunately, that was not the case and thus, she had to sing for a Wildcard spot. :/ Sadly, she picked a poor song in Sir Duke. This song would’ve been perfect for a victory performance; however, it does no one any favors for a chance at a finals spot. With everything said, Ashley showed a different side of herself with her moving around on stage more, and she appeared to be having fun. Also, during my re-watch she didn’t sound all that bad, though it was still her weakest performance. It’s just that the three who were picked sounded better. I had a feeling Uché and Alyssa were locks, but I thought Ashley had a chance for the third spot. It’s just that Dimitrius gave a better performance. Regardless, it was disappointing to not see her in the finals, but it was understandable after her performance. :( Still, I felt this was good enough to rank in the upper half.

    11. Lauren Alaina - (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman

As @miss denise can attest to, I was not a Lauren fan during S10. With that said, she has grown on me over the years. It’s just that I didn’t care for most of her performances and felt she got off easy when it came to the judges’ criticism. As far as (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman is concerned, this one is in the middle of the pack for me in terms of her performances. It was actually one of my least favorites of hers and planned on placing it somewhere near the bottom of this ranking. During my re-watch, however, I realized I liked it a lot more than I was expecting to. I have to say this was an unexpected song choice from her because I expected her to sing a song from a country artist rather than the Queen of Soul. With that said, though I like it more now, I don’t think she was mature enough to sing a song of this caliber, nor did she have the voice to really do the song justice at the time (I don’t doubt she can do so now). Finally, the outfit was hideous, and I thought Pia’s was bad. 😒 It looked like she was wearing a diaper. 😐 Regardless, this number from Lauren went from near the bottom to just missing the Top 10.

    15. David Archuleta - We Can Work It Out

    14. Kris Allen - What's Going On

    13. Hollie Cavanagh - Flashdance...What A Feeling

    12. Ashley Hess - Sir Duke

    11. Lauren Alaina - (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman

Actually, it may have been $13, but my mind went to $15 for some reason. :haha:  My friend bought the tickets for a group of us, so I didn't know the cost until it was time to pay up. :dead: I never choose night time showings myself, so was in for a shock with that price. Yes! I heard good things about the vaccines. My brother is a nurse and keeps us in the loop on this. I sure hope so. LOL yes, that's why I mentioned not drinking toooo much. :giggle: I tend to drink a lot of water in general so I have to restrain myself during movies. :haha:

Excited to see it! Thanks so much.

Yeah, I had soooo many lists from over the years. 😢 It breaks my heart thinking about it.

Yes, although we can include Jesse in there since you knew he was coming and I didn't post a clue. :haha: I would love to read the Archie comics sometime! Do you ship Archie with Betty or Veronica? :shiftywave:  Haha the matching is fun! Maybe soooo.... but we'll see who you post first. :giggle:

I love animals in general, but am definitely a dog person when it comes down to it. I should clarify because my family adopted the most wonderful puppy (the one I mentioned showing Hunter a photo of), but since I live on my own now, I want to adopt animals to live with me too. Just haven't gotten to it yet. 😢 But thank you!  Haha it doesn't surprise me, but I love the ~dark feel of the show.

    I agree and thanks!

Yeah. :(  I am thankful for that! Glad you agree with me on the age too. :haha: I know teenagers are often portrayed by actors older than that. Oops, Cole is actually the oldest of the core four, but the five year gap between him and KJ is a bit of a surprise.

LOL I would feel a bit weird and embarrassed posting photos like that. :dead: It's all good though. Puppies are the best!

They sometimes get some flack for those, but I think they're fun. :giggle: Haha yes!

They might appear for you. 😮 I have to be prepared. :giggle: Oh yay! As long as you like KJ more. :giggle:  But I agree! :dead:

LOL, I remember the first time I went to a night time showing and was surprised to see how much it was. :haha: It's cool to see your brother is a nurse; hopefully he's been able to get some rest during this time. Either way, having someone who knows what's going on is a nice touch. Me too. Oh, I see. Unfortunately, I've made that mistake but was able to hold on until the movie was over. It's always great to drink a lot of water; I especially do so after having a bout with kidney stones a few years ago.

Happy to see you are! 😄 You're welcome. 🤗

So that makes me three out of four then? :haha: I believe there was a site that had some of them posted. I'll post a link in here if I can find it, but it's been a few years since I've visited it. Hopefully it still exists. Ah yes, the eternal question. :haha:  I think Betty would be best for him, but he strings her along and only uses her as a backup in case things with Veronica falls apart. :/ We'll see if you can match your next one with mine.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. It's nice to see your family adopt a puppy. Are animals allowed where you live? If so, you may very well get yours one day. You're welcome. Maybe if I watch some more of it, I'll get used to the dark feel of it.

    👍

This is good to see. As for the age thing, this appears to be common in these types of shows. There were some jokes during the original Beverly Hills 90210 show that the actors portraying the teens where in their 30s. :haha: Oh, so Cole is actually the oldest of the core four. 😮 The five year gap does appear to be surprising thinking about it.

Yeah, that's understandable. We won't want to be judged now, do we? :haha: Yes they are! ❤️

I see. I can see how they can come off as fun, especially if one is into that thing.

I didn't say they would appear, but never say never. :giggle: Maybe I like Cole more (just playing around, I liked them both equally though that may not be what you want to hear). 😛

    👍

    Maybe... Here is #2:

    A Gordon Ramsey show

@Crisis When will the ranking resume?

I have to take one more mid-term tonight. If all goes well, I may resume it this evening. Since I've had some downtime at work, I manage to knock out a few write-ups.

Darn, that's not cheap enough but it's better than the $15 I ended up paying for a night movie a few years ago. :haha: :/ I actually just heard last night that the theaters are closed back up again here as well. Ugh, I hope everyone can stay safe. :( lol I usually try to wait to have my snack, or if I have it too early then drinking water (but not too much) or chewing gum can also help curb any hunger. :haha:  Ah, I know. :( I hope it works out for you! :giggle: Unfortunately, this is true. :(

I saw you have since decided so yay! Aww. I do have some others I want to post, so I will (wo)man up and at least do another. 😢 :haha: I just hope negativity can be kept inside.

I'm glad it went better than you thought! ^_^  Haha I used to love looking back on my old lists too. :broken:

I know! :dead:  Well done. I didn't expect you to be familiar with Riverdale, much less have watched it, so that's fun to learn. :haha: Haha yes, I originally thought about posting someone else next, but I wanted to match mine up with yours. :haha:

I guess I do like Archies. :giggle:  Aw thanks about the cat! I don't know if I could live with myself if I adopted a cat before a dog :dead:  lol but maybe someday I'll have the home zoo I dream of.  I haven't read the comics, but I have heard that as well. Love that you agree with me on the red hair! ❤️

I'm not sure regarding the term either, so that is fair to be safe. I'm trying to remember if I heard him call himself that in any interviews or not. But yes, you get me. :haha: I hope he can! He has a beautiful accent.

This is true. ❤️ Yeah, so unfortunate about the timing of the movie's release. :( His co-star in that movie is also an actress I'm a fan of (and they were also together in his very first movie - A Dog's Purpose), so it's fun how this keeps working out for me. :haha: And yeah, he is 23, although I always thought he looked older than his age, like older than 19 in the first season of Riverdale. He is the youngest of the core cast members though, with there being a five year age gap between him and Cole (Jughead). 😮

I'm glad you got to see his personality. :giggle:  And LOL when I went searching for gifs... the first few page of results I saw were all of him shirtless. :dead: I didn't want to post one of those, but it is telling about his fitness. :giggle: Yes, love the puppies!

I feel like that storyline was more heavy in the first season, although it's still always a part of his character. And they do a seasonal musical episode. :haha:  His name is so good though. :giggle:

Oooh... I will have to take notes on this regarding who he named. :shiftywave: LOL yes him and Cole have a really close and hilarious friendship. I've watched that video so many times. :haha:

Thank you! Nooo, don't feel that way. Mine keep coming out longer than I mean them to. :haha:

😮 Back to the clues, I see.... and what at this? :dead:  I'm not great with riddles. I feel like these must be lyrics though, so *searches*  Oh, it's from the theme song for Underdog, a show from the 60s. :haha: HMM.  Does this mean the person has anything to do with this show or does she have some other "underdog" role? Wait, there was a live action movie and Amy Adams provided voice work. 😮 But you already denied her when I named her earlier. I'm not sure where to go from here. :haha:

Yeah, unfortunately it isn't cheap. $15 is absolutely nuts to pay for a movie. I think the most I paid was $12, so it's not that far off. It's unfortunate places are closing back up again; however, it appears that there are two vaccines that are in development and have had positive results thus far. Maybe things will be back to normal sooner than expected if this keeps up. We can't drink too much water; it's not good having to use the restroom in the middle of the movie. :haha: I hope it does as well. :giggle: Yeah, I wish it wasn't. :(

I'll try to have my next one up some time this weekend. Whether you post someone or not, I support the decision and will look forward to whoever you post. Me too.

I'm glad as well. Ugh, once again the crash was no fun; I miss reading some of the old lists and would've loved to see yours. 💔

So I'm two for three now? :haha: As I mentioned, I was a huge fan of the comics, so I was familiar with the name of the town and the characters. Nice to see that you wanted to match with mine. Maybe that other person will show up next. :shiftywave:

:giggle:. I don't mind cats though I'm more of a dog person myself. If you believe you'll have one and work hard enough for it, maybe that home zoo will become a reality. I'll just say the comics are much different from the show, at least the parts I've seen. ❤️ about the red hair.

It's better to be safe than sorry. Here's to him being able to speak in his natural voice in future projects. 👍

Ugh about the movie's timing. 💔 It does seem to work out a lot for you regarding him working with actresses you're a fan of. I was surprised to learn he was only 23. With that said, he did appear to be older than the age he was supposed to portray. 😮 at him being the youngest and there being a five year gap between him and the second youngest cast member (Cole Sprauser).

He does appear to have a fun personality. Understandable about not wanting to post pictures of him shirtless; I've had to fight the urge of not posting some of mine in swimsuits or anything too revealing. :lmao: The pictures were telling about his fitness. You can't go wrong with puppies!

Oh I see about that angle. I don't think I've seen any of these seasonal music episodes. It does sound nice to say, I'll admit. :haha:

:lmao: at taking notes on his crushes. I don't doubt they do. I ended up liking Cole from the video. The way he read the tweets was hilarious.

You're welcome. 🤗 At least they show how much effort and care that are put in them. 👍

As for the clue of my next crush, I'll post three of them unless someone gets it before then. You are correct in that the clue are lyrics to the Underdog cartoon theme song. Underdog does have something to do with this person; however, it may or may not have to do with the character, the show, or the live action movie. I'll post clue #2 some time tomorrow.
