  1. Wendy Moten and Keisha Renee- something by Faith Hill. Wendy Moten and Kyla Jade- Something Celine (and QueenMae would like it)
  2. I didn’t know anything about him before his audition aired, and based on the battle pairing I never imagined him as a rocker, and in turn I didn’t think I would like him as much as I did. It’s rough that based on the spoilers the rocker was speculated to survive battles.
  3. They also described him as a middle aged rocker like Todd Michael Hall The sources also took a long time to confirm the name for that same user’s snowflake this season
  4. Christina Grimmie- Wrecking Ball Taylor Phelps- Sweater Weather Rose Short- God’s Country The three easiest examples for me
  5. Based on his videos, I think he would place Paris higher if he made his own ranking, and he doesn’t appear to watch the show in as much detail
  6. Yes. And both flopped hard during Top 10 week with a fun performance and got eliminated, though Shane’s elimination was more foreseeable. I think both also wore similar hats during that performance as well.
  7. I’m doing Season 17 Good Rose Short- A lot of versatility but she knocked everything out of the park. When she took a risk it would pay off. On paper, some of these songs don’t seem to work but she made them fit her style. Ricky Duran- The rock lane benefit Ricky, and he fit into the role very well. Even the uptempo songs were good fits for him, and were able to show off his charisma, stage presence and instrumental skills rather than just his vocals Bad Katie Kadan (T10-Finale)- Katie did really well in the early rounds of the competition so I’d say that T10 was when her song choices got worse. Lady Marmalade didn’t work well in the Semis, and her finale set wasn’t that good Joana Martinez (T12 and T11)- Joana seemed like she had potential for Semis, but the Latin song choices in early rounds killed her, and her voice fit pop songs better. These may have played a role in her T10 elimination. Shane Q- Caribbean Queen is enough to justify his placement on the list. But yeah, I didn’t get a sense of his artistry and he seemed disconnected a lot
  8. I put the same answer as rasps, it can be good but it shouldn’t be overdone, or at least there need to be other aspects for me to not notice it. I have enjoyed singers like Dexter Roberts and Kinsey Rose who have some twang, but there were some country singers that I didn’t like it in (can’t remember specifics at the moment)
  9. There were a lot of good looking contestants this season. Bekah was probably the prettiest to me.
  10. 4. I put her at #6. Her audition was definitely enjoyable, and one of the better auditions of the season (another one in my Top 15). She didn’t have the best song choice in her battle with Raquel, but going to Team Kelly paid off, since Ariana didn’t know what to do with her. Her Knockout was definitely good, and she deserved to win over The Cunningham Sisters, though it was probably only around #10 for me. I felt the playoffs was her breakout round. Her playoff was one of the best performances of the night, but because of how well Team Kelly did that night (I even stated that she deserved 4 T13 members), she ended up in the Wildcard, which Kelly has a history of winning. Her Jar of Hearts performance was good enough to win her the save, though I thought her playoff gave her momentum. I threw her some votes in that save because I felt she was one of the most deserving. Her T13 was a disappointment and it didn’t feel like her other performances, though she did advance. Her T11 was her best performance on the show for me and in my T3 of the night, and the first time I saw her as a finale lock. Her T10 performance wasn’t as good, but it was definitely not one of the worst challenge week performances. I remember she was the last to be called safe, but I knew she was going to advance. Her Semis was another good performance, but it was a stacked night and I thought that other contestants had great performances. Her Finale upbeat was her weakest performance on the show, but more because the sound mix was terrible, and I couldn’t hear her in parts. Her Finale cover was a lot better though, and at a similar level to her playoff performances. I thought 4th was a fitting placement for her in the Finale (second or technically third in a row with BK’s same placement). Hailey was a contestant that I respect a lot, and she had a good run during the Live Shows, but I personally preferred others more during her season.
  11. Hailey seems accurate for this one, considering BK would talk about the others more
  12. The US probably would have a few entries if they didn’t take down the videos after a few years
  13. Yeah, I don’t typically like straight up male pop singers on the show either, but he is one of the ones I actually liked.
  14. A contestant who got good song choices is Joshua Vacanti. He wasn’t pushed in the prelives and was a big underdog, but he got a lot of songs that really fit him as a performer. You Will Be Found really suited his Broadway style, The Show Must Go On showed him as a performer, and is a very theatrical song. His challenge song also worked and he was one of the few contestants that made the song fit his style. Ashes was another big theatrical ballad as well. As for the save song, it wasn’t a bad pick, but the problem with his save song was that he had already sang Celine that week, but the producers probably didn’t think he would last as long without needing the save. He’s definitely a contestant that thrived more in the Lives. I don’t want to count winners for good song choices because it’s too easy.
  15. Yep, Darius was one of the most underrated contestants of Season 9. Definitely worthy of the Top 12 that season. He had a better PO performance than Mark, but his treatment wasn’t nearly as good (One of them opened the premiere, had a leaked battle and had a KO in a Monday episode, and the other appeared in Episode 4, had a montaged battle and a appeared in a Tuesday Knockout episode). Darius never appeared on the show on a Monday, and he didn’t get the best treatment, especially since they pushed for a different R&B guy. I’d say that Mark got the third best edit in prelives after Jordan and Barrett.
  16. Pete Mroz. Before You Go, We Belong and Speechless weren’t good fits for him. At least he did well with the first one. The middle one sticks out because of how everyone else on his team got better picks. With the last one, it also seemed like he had given up. His audition and battle were much better song choices for him to showcase what he is like as an artist. Davon Fleming (in Lives) is another example. He had three great solo performances in prelives, and was one of the best of the round each time. In Lives, he gets Love on Top and I Have Nothing, which are notoriously difficult songs, and Hurt, which he also struggled with. These all seemed to be too big for him, I don’t like how he got taken out of the gospel route and put into the diva route. At least he didn’t get another diva song in semis. From this season, I’d say Holly Forbes. She had a ton of potential to make finale on the season, but she kept getting the wrong songs in Lives. She went from country to rock to disco, and the last one did not work for her vocally. If she sang Adele and Billy Joel in the Lives, that would have gone much better.
