Happy Birthday, Elton! Dua Lipa, Garth Brooks, Billy Joel and More Than 40 Artists Reveal Their Favorite Elton John Songs

QUOTE....

Scotty McCreery: “Bennie and The Jets”

“Bennie and the Jets” makes me think of catching Elton on tour a couple of years ago. From those opening chords of that song through the entire show, Elton was amazing and we had a blast. One of my favorite concerts of all time.

This 30-minute documentary of North Carolina’s Vietnam story covers the lasting effects of the Vietnam War, including the war’s impact on survivors. The project was produced in conjunction with The Wall That Heals, a traveling three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial that will visit two North Carolina communities in 2022. Of the 58,000 Americans who died in Vietnam, more than 1,600 men and one woman hailed from North Carolina. The film features an all-star lineup of narrators, including Joe Mantegna, Scotty McCreery, Beth Leavel, Sharon Lawrence, and John Tesh. The documentary was made with the support of the NC Museum of History, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, and the USMC’s 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band. Financial support was provided by the North Carolina Humanities Council and the National Endowment of the Arts.

Gearing up for his first official time playing the iHeartCountry Festival in Austin, TX, Scotty McCreery shares some food recommendations for anyone heading to Austin and talks about what makes the show there so different! We also talked about his trip overseas to play the 02 Arena in London, England to 20,000 fans, what it was like attending a soccer game in the Netherlands and having George Strait himself react to his latest single “Damn Strait!"

That has to be a pre-recorded interview.  Why would he be in Nashville tomorrow (Nashville is where Big and Bubba originate) when he's performing in Flagstaff tomorrow night?

Isn't this where Scotty played in late October?  Maybe the interview is from then.  Odd they are just now putting it out.

The duet to which Lauren has been alluding:

Isn't it typical that Scotty only gets 1 appearance on Idol and has to share it with Alaina? 🙄  Plus he will not be able to sing and promote his current single.

I don't know that Scotty would have performed his single unless it was at the finale. The past several seasons of Idol on ABC have had almost no Idol alums with performances. Most guest performances are at the finale & it's usually duets with the current season's contestants. If there is an Idol alum performance, it's usually with an ABC Idol or Idol alum non-finalist such as Mickey Guyton (which I don't consider an alum).

Sure, this is the 20th anniversary of Idol & I could see the show bring a good amount of alums back. But knowing Idol & how the last season on FOX was done with successful alums still singing covers for what was supposed to be the end of Idol, I wouldn't be surprised if this season they just showcase past alums by singing covers. While Idol namechecks successful alums, they don't generally give many of them a performance of their own music anymore. I'm an Idol fan, but they don't anymore really showcase past alums current music like they did before. Some of that is because there's no longer results shows, but frankly I'm not sure the higher-ups cares anymore either.

If he wasn't going to perform his single , Scotty should at least have been the one to mentor like the other Winners did. Haley was maybe an exception because there were most likely no winner in "Soul". Idol is treating him as if he was the runner-up. Really?

Even on FOX Idol, the show gave alums post-show who were affiliated with 19 at the time more tv time, performances, etc. I doubt it was a coincidence. It obviously benefits 19 if they can profit or showcase (not necessarily with a performance) an artist on the current 19 roster. Lauren is on the 19 roster. She's probably the only one making them a profit. In the last few years, Kelly, Carrie, Daughtry, etc. have all left 19. There aren't many Idol's signed on 19 (about 5) & 4 of them were either mentors or in this duet special.

Were you including Maddie Poppe in the artists with 19?   She was dropped (evidently).
