  1. First that come to mind Kyla jade - one night only Jennifer is a beast of a vocalist, ive watched the movie version and 2 live performances, but I prefer the dynamics in kyla's cover and use of her lower register. Jej Vinson - passionfruit Christiana Danielle- hotline bling They made monotonous songs infinitely more interesting.
  2. Ah ok, I'll replace it then I feel like a lot of contestants would choose to sing songs that haven't been done on the show before ( if they could ) at the expense of not getting the most votes you possibly can. I can't speak for them, but if I was a contestant I'd be annoyed if I was limited to singing songs that have been covered extensively, and done excellently by multiple contestants. I would want to put my own stamp on a song that hasn't been done before, or has rarely been covered.
  3. 4. Hailey is the only contestant I can confidently say I liked Live better than prelive since she wasnt on my radar before then. (Although I liked her blind audition) Her tone is very pretty, and I think out of everyone she had the best emotional delivery. I do think her voice could be a little on the weak side at times. In her weaker moments it sounded like she struggled to maintain pitch and tonal consistency. I'd rank her somewhere around 3-7. Basically everyone in that range for me is very hard to rank.
  4. A lot of these have no chance being sung on the voice usa (especially in the indie, rock and misc ctageory) so I'd be satisfied if another country did it. Indie Bon Iver & st Vincent- roslyn Phoebe Bridgers - Kyoto Sharon Von Etten - serpents Arcade Fire - wake up Moses sumney - cut me Florence + the machine - drumming song Julien Baker - appointments Nothing but thieves - if I get high RNB SWV - rain Jazmine Sullivan - pick up your feelings Beyonce - 1+1 Ne Yo - because of you Mariah Carey - we Belong together Bruno Mars - smoking out the window Maxwell - pretty wings Janelle monae - Django jane Rock/metal Led Zeppelin - Immigrant song Bon Jovi - bed of roses Def Leppard - love bites Guns N roses - don't you cry Queen - who wants to live forever Metallica - nothing else matters Jeff buckley - lover, you should've come over Alice in chains - nutshell Pop Bille Eilish - I love you Weeknd - in the night Lana del ray - born to die Lorde - green light Katy Perry - never really over Carly Rae Jepsen - run away with me Country Alison Krauss & union Station- boy who wouldn't hoe corn Jason Isbell - elephant Jeanne Pruett- satin sheets Emmylou Harris & Don Williams- if I needed you Gillian Welch - revelator Misc Kate Bush - running up that hill Bjork - all is full of love.
  5. Based on who everyone has mentioned so far, seems like Kat Perkins has the worst song choices for her voice/style atm. I didn't watch her season, but a rocker with those type of songs? Yikes. Also, how about Hailey Mia for benefitting from song choices? I feel like all her songs suited her style and voice very well, and she never really left the pop lane even in genre switch week. Which seems to be her main genre as a vocalist.
  6. To expand, I'm not only talking about inherently bad song choices for a singing competition, but also song choices that didn't suit a contestant at all, and vice versa. Are there any contestants that constantly picked or were given bad/good song choices? And try to pick one contestant you think suffered or benefited from song choices throughout their run more than anyone else.
  7. Add Wichita Lineman and you have the 5 best KOs of season 21.
  8. For recent seasons definitely Toneisha. I mean, by this point in the competition most contestants have shown what they're capable of. But she brought up a part of her voice none of us knew she had. It's also probably her best "live" performance.
  9. Even during his voice journey he was always a very good singer based on his audition and battle. I mean, I remember him drawing Jordan Smith comparisons at the time. It was only after that when people started ragging on him.
  10. Been going through Moriah Formica's recently songs and covers. Don't care for the song but this one's probably her best vocal performance that I've found so far. Brooke Simpson - Emotion It's a trio with 2 other singers but they all do a splendid job. Avery Wilson - Can we talk Best male version of this song I've heard
  11. Was surprised Avery Wilson on this show. Must say he's much better now. Even though his blind is pretty damn good. Dude is more popular than most winners, has 900k followers on insta.
  12. Also, do you guys think I should include group performances and coach/celeberity and contestant duets into these polls? I'm especially hesitant of celebrity/contestant duets since half the performance is coming from a celebrity that's usually singing their own song.
  13. Thought I'd do an easier one to compile. Not many usher covers, but just enough for a list. I may have missed some though since I didn't watch the earlier seasons. So if your favourite is missing, let me know and I'll add them to the poll so you can vote for them. U got it bad covers Victor Solomon vs Deion Warren Kalvin Jarvis vs Jimmy Mowery Jamai Jeff Lewis Jonathan Without You covers Jchosen Avery Wilson Other Stevie Jo - there goes my baby Darius Scott - make me wanna Brittnee Camelle vs Jake Barker - climax
  14. Idk how yall decide who your favourite contestant for each season is. Mine changes for a lot of seasons every time I think about.
  15. 8. Yeah, I'd have her much lower. She was one of the best prelives. But I couldn't ignore all the pitch issues after that and her high notes weren't always the most pleasant sounding. But it really showed live. It sucks too cause she had her gorgeous vocal moments , and it was almost always in the lower register. 7. I really liked Raquels run but I wouldn't have her this high. 15 - 20 range for me. She didn't have as much performances as other contestants, and sometimes her enunciation would throw me off. Also, not sure why people were dissapointed with her performances. I watched some of her covers and Idol performances, maybe I didn't watch the right ones but i think she was better on The voice. 6. Yeah I'd have Joshua around the 3 - 6 range. He was the most consistent male vocalist this season, and probably the contestant with the least amount of vocal issues besides Wendy and Gymani imo. Only reason I don't have him higher is because his style and tone is not something I usually gravitate to. But it's hard to ignore his body of work. 5. I'd also have Jershika around the 3-6 range. She was surprisingly versatile, and always interesting vocally. She's also the type of contestant I usually like. But I do think she had pitchy moments live in most of her performances. She tried runs that weren't always executed well and high notes that missed the mark. It takes away from her performances imo since a lot of her appeal as a vocalist is having great range and insane agility, especially after her monster KO. If she pulled those moments off it would have made for amazing vocal feats, and icing on the cake for the overall performance. Thats why her favourite live performances of mine are the semi final and first instant save, because everything she tried to do vocally, worked.
  16. 12. I agree Shadale's KO is one of the best performances of the season. Unfortunately, her performances dipped in quality afterwards. I would also have her around the 10-20 mark. 11. Imo I don't think he ever topped his blind audition, but he was still really solid until his live performances. I wouldn't have him ahead of Katie Rae or Libianca, he's probably in the 20 - 25 range for me. I'm also not too fond of his tone even though I usually like rasp. Not sure why, maybe the rasp is a bit more on the twangy/whiny side for me? 10. I'd also have David around the 10-20 mark. He was consistently very good, and his KO is great. He might have my favourite tone of all the male vocalists this season. If only Ariana kept him, he would have had the best performance on that team, along with Raquel. 9. Gymani is my 2nd favourite contestant of the season so can't say I agree with the ranking. But I'm glad we can both agree she never faltered that much in the quality of her performances. (Which imo can be said for very few contestants this season) I also don't hear any pitch issues in her top 13 performance "made a way". And I'm still irritated with the sound issues of that performance. You can hear her voice get quiet then resume to normal volume even though she's singing in the same range.
  17. Surprised there are votes for Bryana Salaz and Kyla Jades battle. Didn't know it was liked that much. I always thought Kyla was not on the tempo during the battle even though she sounded great, and her battle partner was not close to the same level as her. And problem was a bit messy.
  18. 16. Libianca had a short but very good run. I would have her higher but I don't disagree with anything you said. 15. Oh boy, I'd have these 2 much lower. Their prelives were good, but they never stood out to me. Lives is were my issues come in. They were almost always one of the weaker performers on a night to night basis. The exception being when they sang stay, and their playoffs (mostly just because there were a lot of worse performances) So it's hard for me to rank them high despite having more performances than most contestants. Classic case of quality > quantity for me, and these 2 were the latter. 14. I'd have Paris around the 5-10 range. But I can't say I disagree with your analysis of each of his performances. He generally had a few pitchy moments in his performances, but I still thought he ranged from middle of the pack to one of the best of the night. Unlike you, I loved everything about his performance of use me, even though I do agree he did overuse the rasp to hide what would otherwise be pitchy moments. I also thought his cover of me and Ms Jones was a refreshing break from the use of his rasp, and it was good to see him tackle a song cleanly that wasn't an emotional ballad like his battle and genre switch performance. 13. I really like Hailey Green, but would have her lower. I feel like she was on the verge of being shaky vocally during some of her KO. Some of the belting notes, especially that sustained "yeahh" note. Some of the lows too. I don't know, just me? Maybe I just didn't like the tone of those particular moments, and they sound like she's struggling when she's not.
  19. 1. Jordan, but I don't think Viktor is too far behind. 2. Michael. Just prefer his style 3. Patrique was flawless and more impressive vocally, but I think he overdid it a tad with the runs. I'm amazed by his vocals but I don't really feel it, and that's important since this song is a bit emotional. Sandyredd was great vocally, more importantly though, she's a concert and her performance gets me amped everytime. I also think her distinct style suits her song more than Patrique's rnb singing suits Aerosmith. So my vote goes to sandy
  20. This is pretty easy for me to choose even if their opponents did really well. 1. Both were a bit of a bore. But Thunderstorm is a more unique singer. It doesn't help that Mandi was singing a song I've heard dozens of times, and she didn't do anything with it that made her version stand out imo. 2. Probably the best KO pair of the season. I prefer Cammwess though. I like his tone more, His vocals were more interesting and dynamic, Megan was a bit static vocally. 3. Joanna did good but she didn't show us anything she hadn't in previous rounds. And those other performances are much better imo. Meanwhile, I didn't think Zan would do as good as she did with her song. She showed some power I wasnt expecting.
  21. This might be even harder than picking the best Kelly Clarkson cover. My top 4 in no particular order yet Gean Garcia vs Ryleigh Modig Was the best battle of that season imo, and both contestants best vocals on the show. Both singers have such unique, pretty tones. Gymani Love the melody changes she made with the song, and the additional raspy power she added to it. Sandyredd This cover gets me amped up everytime, you know she's giving 110% in stage presence and vocals and it's intensely fun to watch/listen to. Rizzi Myers She made this song so much more powerful imo. One of the best female pop vocals this show has had.
  22. She's only been a coach for one season but her songs have been covered quite a bit (a lot of stellar performances too) so I thought I would do her next. As usual. If your favourite is not on the poll, don't vote and I'll count that contestants votes. POV covers Gymani Gean Garcia vs Ryleigh Modig Breathin covers Rizzi myers David Vogel Dangerous woman covers Sandyredd Ali caldwell Chris weaver vs kathrina feigh Sammie Zanona Rest of the Ariana covers on poll Kyla jade vs Jesslee - one last time Injoy Fountain- 7 rings Dana Monique vs Devan Blake Jones - stuck with you Bryana salaz - problem KCK3 - no tears left to cry
  23. Why didn't people like Katie Kadan's performance? Not like there were any vocal issues with the performance, and it's in the same lane as her audition, which most people like. So what gives?
