something i've noticed about Holly that I really appreciate is that her head voice is extremely clear and smooth, moreso than most contestants i can think of in recent memory. i'm excited to hear her on a more ballad-type song.

yeah i've never understood people not liking her ?? i thought she was a strong powerhouse-type singer. edit: actually i guess i kinda get it because there were lots of strong contestants (Vanessa, Hunter, Brennley), so i can understand people's frustration with her moving on if the others were their favorites

oh i see, yeah that totally makes sense. the amount that i enjoy contestants definitely is impacted by things other than singing like how i view their personality. with some of my favorite contestants over the years i've talked with them over social media more which has made it easier to connect with them. whereas with some contestants who i haven't had that opportunity, it's harder to connect especially when they feel almost robotic in the perfectness of their singing -- a few singers in the past few seasons come to mind for this for me.

maybe im heartless but i feel like i dont particularly care for the backstories that much? mainly because it seems like almost every person has one and it seems like the producers want to manufacture or force out of people backstories to make the show interesting (see: the reason Kim didn't join the show back in s19 or something). if the backstories were meant to genuinely highlight the challenges faced by these contestants in reaching this point in their lives, then sure, maybe it would make more sense because it would allow the viewer to consider that in their judgment of the work they do. however, that isn't what this is. in summary: backstories aren't an attempt at equity, they're an attempt to hook the viewer, and they don't work for me.

also forgive the 4x posting but i love Kelly's reaction to Kylee's performance b/c it's exactly how i feel. obviously she's a capable vocalist but her high notes were insane! i will say, as a kylee stan, the beginning felt uneven and at times pitchy but i was so impressed by the climax. very Leah Marlene of her to have those indie-pop leanings but also a massive voice.

also for reference, Manasseh, Ryley, and Mary Kate are all standing up, with Ryley clapping, Mary Kate and Manasseh's hands up in the air and Mary Kate screaming LMAO. he is so hilarious for this

I think I remember this being a thing w/ CammWess vs. Megan. I think I recall a user here saying that they preferred CammWess when they were there live but they preferred Megan when it aired because the editing reduced the impact of CammWess' performance.

i disagree — i think it was a conscious effort to do what camila advised to her during advising sessions because camila told her to gesture and stuff. but either way blame is not on her
