He is used as a vehicle to demonstrate how menacing and dangerous and unpredictable the villain of the film is. Beyond that, I couldn't tell you the slightest thing about him. But like with any named character in the original trilogy, I'm sure he has a rich backstory written somewhere! Let's find some highlights. Oh wow, I guess he dies in this scene lol I just figured Darth Vader threw him aside and didn't merk him then and there. Owies. It seems Antilles was the official owner of C3PO and R2 up until he died. Apart from his time in the Rebellion (which was a secret at that point, don't forget, Leia was telling Vader that she was on a diplomatic mission lmao liar) he was a member of the Royal Alderaan Civil Fleet under Leia's adoptive dad Senator Bail Organa. Anyway this is another guy from the original movie. Apparently this guy was older than most of the rebel pilots since his nickname is "Old Man" wow shade. This is one of the iconic X-Wing pilots from the first movie's big final battle that resulted in the Death Star exploding. So he's a big deal military-wise and plotwise but just not a super big deal in terms of the story and narrative. "Red One, standing by" that's this guy. He piloted the X-Wing Starfighter by that name. I always thought they were using their personal code names/nicknames when they said those lines but I guess they were identifying themselves by their ship, which probably makes more sense but I never gave it deeper thought. Wow reading about the battle is actually kind of interesting. The rebels started the battle with 22 X-Wings, including this guy, and they ended the battle with just TWO X-WINGS REMAINING yikes. Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles. So you can deduce that poor Old Man Gavin perished in the final battle. Personally shot down by Darth Vader to boot. Alex95 Posted May 22 Share Posted May 22 Tion Medon This guy's pretty cool. General Grevious was hiding out on his planet and holding them hostage, but Tion Medon risked his life to let Obi-Wan know. He was the Port Administrator on his planet of Utapau. I guess they wanted to remain neutral in the war, but clearly neutrality doesn't work because when the entire galaxy is in a war, everyone's gonna have to get involved in some capacity. You can't be neutral in the face of fascism!!!! But Tion Medon did choose Obi-Wan and the rebellion's side after all so we have to stan. Here's "Star Wars but only Tion Medon scenes." The video is less than a minute long so I guess that tells you everything you need to know about Tion Medon's impact on the canon. A gambler and ally to Maz Kanata, Master Codebreaker only appeared in Episode 8. which I have not watched since I saw it in theaters however many years ago that was now. Fun fact, Justin Theroux was only cast a day before filming. Probably buddies with Rian Johnson or something. Also how Joseph Gordon-Levitt got in the movie, as he has to be in every Rian Johnson movie lol . Rose & Finn wanted to recruit him for a mission, and spotted him gambling in the casino, but they never actually got to him. They instead were apprehended by the police for double parking their spaceship??? Honestly what even is this movie . He was played by actor Woody Harrelson, who also played Haymitch in the Hunger Games. Tobias Beckett came from an ocean planet Glee Anselm (also a homeworld of Kit Fisto) and was a professional thief. In his early life, he killed the bounty hunter Aurra Sing. He then worked for a criminal syndicate called 'Crimson Dawn'. Tobias was a mentor to Han Solo and he carried out many heists with his crew. He eventually betrayed Han and was later shot by him. Elan Sel'Sabagno, also known as Elan Sleazebaggano, made an appearance in "Attack of the Clones", and was a death stick dealer on Coruscant. A death stick was a highly addictive substance made from the balo mushrooms found on the planet Balosar. Elan attempted to sell some to Obi-Wan Kenobi in a club on Coruscant, however, Kenobi used a Jedi mind trick on him, which resulted in Sel'Sabagno deciding to take up a more honest life ("I wanna go home and rethink my life" was probably his most famous line from the movie). Little is known if he had actually succeeded though. For someone who is only known for being a drug dealer in Star Wars universe, this is still a pretty high ranking lol. FrogLenzen Posted May 22 Share Posted May 22 Yarael Poof Yarael is really a fascinating character. We see him in the Phantom Menace movie sitting on the Jedi Counsel, which means he's a Jedi Master. But then he disappears from all other movies! Why? Well there's an internet article titled "Why George Lucas Removed Star Wars' Strangest Jedi Master" that goes into details. You might be thinking... it must be because he has a ridiculous long neck and that seems like the opposite thing anyone wants during a potential Lightsaber duel. But that's not it! It's because Episode II introduced the alien race the Kaminoans who also had iconic long necks. You know, the ones who created the Clones. The Oppenheimers of Star Wars. Honestly I wouldn't be mad if Lama Su was in the game as a Kamino representative but we can't have it all and that exclusion is not as egregious as others. Yarael certainly had much fewer lines of dialogue than any Kaminoan in Star Wars (i.e. zero) but he's a non-human male Jedi so that basically ups his cool-points by default. No wait, actually he is one of the cameos in the sequel trilogy. The Force Awakens. He's played by that forever young guy from Game of Thrones etc. and that screenshot suggests he had a line or two, but we can still call it a cameo because they don't even identify the character in the movie. He only gets a name later in a "Visual Dictionary" reference book. So yeah, this is yet another white human male imperial/first order employee and he doesn't even get a name so he's automatically way less cool than the background aliens and Jedis in other scenes.
