I honestly did not expect "Damn Strait" to hold at #1 on Mediabase this week. Isn't this Scotty's biggest hit song yet? No sign of it showing up as yet!! But even with the certification for Damn Strait was weird...It was announced on the 27th .. I did a screen cap on July 28th of it for my FB page ..then it disappeared again and you had to search for it ,Deb mentioned it appeared again around Aug 4th! ..very odd. But its amazing anything can be seen on that site .. an artist FUTURE had roughly 60 certifications recently listed one after the other !! Given that the certification process must be initiated by the record label, i.e., the label must submit the requisite documentation, it could be that TT is slow-walking the process for some reason... Popular rappers stream very well & rappers collaborate all the time so it's not odd that he could get a lot of certifications. Sometimes labels have a lot of certifications at once for an artist. Usually it is for a big artist or someone who streams well so their certifications change or updated a lot. Country artists do have a bunch of certifications at once at times, but not as much certifications as rappers or pop artists. Morgan Wallen just did this with about 10 certifications at once. Miranda, Chris Stapleton, George Strait, etc. also did this. It usually depends on labels whether they certify songs/albums. Some certify quickly after its eligible, some wait, & some never do. For example, I remember Kelly Clarkson not getting certifications from her label. She has many songs that haven't been certified or updated (including several multi-platinum's) during her time with the label. The problem also is since this is an ex-label those past songs/albums with the label will most likely not be updated. Ex-labels don't usually update past artists on their roster since they don't care because they don't manage them anymore. For example, I would think some of Scotty's past music on Mercury is eligible for certification. However, it is highly unlikely it will be updated.
