American Idol Finalists with most Spotify listeners

So I was bored yesterday and decided to go through Spotify, as I was curious to see which finalists out of them all have the most monthly Spotify listeners. Here are the Top 20 Idol contestants that currently have the most listeners:

 

1. Kelly Clarkson – 29,852,243
2. Carrie Underwood – 6,643,385
3. Gabby Barrett – 4,754,638
4. Jordin Sparks – 4,161,482
5. Adam Lambert – 3,818,707
6. Lauren Alaina – 3,626,404
7. Haley Reinhart – 2,703,438
8. Phillip Phillips – 2,598,454
9. David Archuleta – 2,572,521
10. Chris Daughtry – 2,508,672
11. Scotty McCreery – 2,026,960
12. Jennifer Hudson – 1,743,028
13. Fantasia – 1,607,430
14. Danny Gokey – 1,049,908
15. Mandisa – 896,875
16. Katharine McPhee – 755,109

Thoughts? Any surprises on who is there, and who isn't? I did only go through finalists though there are some others that would make the list if I did more; for example Tori Kelly would be #2, Todrick Hall at #14 & Brielle Von Hugel would make it at #18.

Oh wow, this is interesting! It’s nice to see Gabby Barrett so high, especially since she was on an ABC season.

I’m actually surprised Gabby’s number is so low. I Hope is a mega hit. She should have at least 10 million monthly listeners IMO.

The Monthly Listeners number can fluctuate depending on new music, promotion cycle.  For example, Gabby Barrett has a big record on the radio.  But overall career, she is not more successful than i.e. Chris Daughtry.

Yes I'm aware, Kelly is also very inflated right now because of her Christmas song, and Gabby + Lauren Alaina are too with their current hits. But I like to look at listeners since they actually listen to the music, whereas followers don't necessarily mean they are listening. I tihnk I'll update the list in a few months to see how things have changed.

It's important to look at Monthly Listeners AND Followers.  Spotify has both metrics for a reason. 

 

Kelly, Carrie, Jordin, Daughtry, Fantasia, J-Hud, Adam, Phillip, Scotty - all have high Monthly Listeners and Followers.  And not all of them have new music or on a promotion cycle.

 

Whereas I thought Gabby Barrett's stats would be a lot higher, considering she has a big song on the radio.  It will be interesting what her numbers are when she doesn't.
