The Idol producers would be stupid to pimp him (whether just for this round, or even if he makes the Top 10). He was the literal runner up and still hasnt had any success in the past year. If they pimp him, they are wasting their energy on someone who we ALREADY KNOW wont have success vs someone who could actually have a CHANCE to make it in the music industry.

yeah I agree, this was a bit dragged out for such an anticlimatic announcement. I would get it if it were for something like the Season 18 Returnee Twist, but was there anybody really questioning that American Idol would get cancelled after this season especially when ABC has renewed shows like DWTS already?

The thing is, I feel like an Idol Spoiler account wouldnt have spoilers about a SPECIFC judge joining the panel before major media and news sites. Its one of those things that I feel like is too confidential to be out there because it involved actual celebrities, not just Idol Contestants. Maybe Idol Maniac knows that there will be new judges or if there is a panel switch up occuring, but I dont see us getting the actual name of a new judge.

This definitely makes a lot of sense because if I remember correctly, the judges contracts expire every 2 seasons and this is the end of the 2nd 2 Season Cycle, so they might leave and a new 4 person panel could happen?

I genuinely think the producers told Grace that she wont win or have success if she keeps singing soul songs, so instead they are trying to navigate her into pop songs like this so the General Public can be like "Wow I can picture her on pop radio!" Almost like Madison VanDenburg in S17 who clearly had a voice made for soulful songs but instead sang generic pop.

To be fair, this theme only has so many "current" options for contestants to choose from. Although, I do agree with you that there is some genericness in the song choices.

Song Choice Thoughts: - Alyssa is of course singing musical theater again It could be good if she does it right but im expecting her to growl her way through it. - I hope Grace has a shocking arrangement she shows off because if shes singing the song like it is written, then she could be screwed. - Casey and Hunter picked great song choices for their voices and I have high hopes for their performances. - Madison and Cassandra picked songs that are either going to be great for them, or way too big and overwhelming for them. Could go either way. - Willie picked a good and appropriate song for this time period. His performance package will probably focus on social justice and he will get emotional about it. He is likely getting the pimp spot and the judges will praise him heavily. - Beane is giving me novelty singer vibes with this song and I think the producers are over him. The rest of the songs Im not familiar with enough to comment on.

I feel like everybody is overestimating Arthur tbh. I think he could get to the Finale AT MOST, but I dont see him winning. The Season 19 contestants have already started forming strong fan bases and are still fresh in peoples minds compared to Arthur. People who voted for Arthur last season could also already have new favorites on the Season 19 cast who they like more. Again, he probably has the votes to get pretty far if he does win the comeback , but not the votes win.

I agree. Willie is not an artist that will have any mainstream career because he is too old school and wont make music that suits the radio or TikTok trends. They need someone marketable who can be promoted easily to a young audience.
