  1. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6GhlaXrDJ4/?igsh=MWE5ZXdsdnJwaTNweg== the caption of this post was honestly very hard for me to read. i feel like we do not emphasize how devastating this situation was for Sam and how Idol simply just... ignored them throughout it. Idol completely exploited and capitalized off of their backstory, naivety, and dreams of success just to totally drop them. i am glad to see they have been able to have a positive and grateful attitude through it all, but it is still just really unsettling. kinda sad they are going back to Idol because they could have probably made a grueling documentary to expose them.

  3. just a reminder that Sam now uses they/them pronouns (which i hope the show respects on Sunday...)! i'm really excited to finally see them back! their interview with the Washington Post last December was fascinating to read (i recommend if you haven't already). them ending up back in the subway stations was a pretty viral headline last year so i'm interested to see if that is acknowledged in any way on air.
  4. he made the thread for song suggestions in general, not just this week. i agree that this is a really strong Top 10 and there are a lot of cool suggestions in this post! Emmy on Thinkin' Bout You and Jack on XO particularly sound super interesting.
  5. i cannot find any comments about that, but regardless, i can assure you it was likely said with a joking tone since i would never wish harassment on a contestant. but anyways, i agree! at the end of the day i have a busy life outside of Idol, even if it may not seem like it based on my activity here once each season ends i pretty much move on immediately lol. even if a woman won, i'd be happy for a few hours and then my life would continue as normal. all of my comments made on here are in good fun and aren't meant to offend anybody. i also sort of lean into a persona that trolls a bit with my excessive support of female contestants/dislike of certain male contestants (hence my new pfp with KB's case that says "i making boys cry"), so i'll tone that down moving forward if it makes people annoyed/uncomfy.
  6. when did i (or anyone on this forum) suggest violence against Colin??????? did i make a joke and it came across the wrong way? because... 1) it is never that deep 2) i would probably be banned if that was the case lol
  7. i do agree to some extent. if reddit wasn't overhyping him so much i would probably dislike him less, but i still would not be a fan regardless tbh. i know that i personally don't drag male contestants solely because they are male, but i can't speak for others. i just naturally have a bias towards female voices. on Spotify, my top 20 artists of all time are all women with the exception of 2 men (Bruno Mars and Stevie Wonder lol). i try to be as fair as possible (especially when making my ratings), but we all have our biases at the end of the day.
  8. yeah this is the one thread i suggest y'all *don't* look at lol, but at the end of the day it is just mean to be a fun way to assess the performances. you all have earned your way to the Top 10 for a reason!
  9. as someone who actively contributes to the female stan echochamber, i'm sorry that you feel that way! obviously i have my own biases but i think it is important that people bring varying perspectives to the table (unless that perspective is just snarky or rude). i would put 17, 18, and 21 all below 20
  10. 1. Triston - consistently high stats. we now know he can do ballads and also serve stage presence (even if it's a bit cringey, we know Minivan eats it up). 2. Abi - she has high high's, but also some concerning lows. i'll give her the benefit of the doubt for now. 3. Will - his stats still strike me as extremely mediocre for being the only country WGWG in the competition. 4. Mia - very consistent and reliable, both in terms of stats and performances. she need's another "moment" to boost herself. 5. Kaibrienne - inconsistent, but when she delivers people love her. i'd also say she has the best social media presence on the cast which helps. 6. Julia - the only powerhouse left, can probably stick around for a bit. could see her moving up if she gives more performances like "Something in the Orange." 7. Jack - he has the minivan appeal and the potential as a performer, though his personality is extremely dry and forgettable. if he starts to get a better edit and has a "moment" i could see him moving up. 8. Emmy - sweet personality + memorable story, but her nerves and insecurities are too prevalent for her to go the full distance. 9. McKenna - love her, but her stats are never really outstanding and she doesn't really have the best personality of the Top 10. the "sexy" comments also have potential to make Minivan intimidated by her. 10. Kayko - weakest vocals left and only really appeals to an extremely niche (but passionate) group of people. he won't be allowed to do originals until Finale and i don't see that benefitting him either.
  11. being on the live also made me realize that the contestants are lowkey out of touch. like KB and McKenna didn't even know what the elimination format is for Sunday and Monday's episode and had to be told by a fan in comments... meanwhile we are out here intensely predicting and debating who is at risk on each of the next two episodes also given that they seem to be so supportive about Triston winning, i doubt they have much awareness about the sexism of Idol voters + the country bias + the lack of female winners. kinda making me realize that i should not care as much if they aren't even aware in the first place!
  12. not KB and McKenna saying on Instagram live that they want (and predict) Triston to win and think he has worked the hardest
  13. anybody have any obscure spring/summer bops from Idol alumni to recommend now that it's starting to get warmer out (at least in the northeast lol)? these are two that always make it into my Spring/Summer playlist rotation!
  14. Abi honestly has a few strong options right up her alley if she wants to go mid/up-tempo. So far I thought of: - “Complicated” by Avril Lavigne - “A Thousand Miles” by Vanessa Carlton - “The Game of Love” by Santana ft. Michelle Branch
  15. Jack Blocker (1998) McKenna Faith Breinholt (1998) Emmy Russell (1999) Kayko (2000) Will Moseley (2000) Abi Carter (2002) Julia Gagnon (2002) Mia Matthews (2004) Kaibrienne (2003) Triston Harper (2008)
  16. https://www.billboard.com/lists/american-idol-top-10-season-22-contestants-2024/ The yearly in-depth Billboard Interview with the Top 10 (Top 14 really) is here! It also has all of their birthdays so we can now begin to speculate song choices for Sunday
  17. something i've been meaning to point out: did anybody else notice how McKenna has been called "sexy" by the judges the past 2 nights? i feel like that is going to hurt her since Minivan gets intimidated by sexyness. the Pia vibes are major and i do see her in danger either Sunday or Monday next week. i hope it's Monday because i'd like to think the judges will save her.
  18. just thought i'd pop in to give my thoughts on the season because i am now caught up on all the performances prior to tonights episode! saw some of the Playoffs 1 performances but not all. - Asher and L. are my favorites! love their voices and vibes. - Jackie has so much potential but the most uninspiring song choices. - Maddi is a bit cringe (not really a fan of how she sang Escapism and Can't Take My Eyes Off of You when those are songs... not really made for white singers) but she does bring the fun. there aren't many artists like her on singing competitions (radio pop singers) so she is at least interesting! - Val was good but didn't scratch the powerhouse itch i've been yearning for. though i do think she deserves to be in Playoffs over a lot of people - not a fan of Bryan and Nathan. they are strong singers but that's about it - i feel like i would see them both performing in tribute bands. don't really have any other stand out thoughts that come to mind about other contestants. and one thing I will say is that The Voice stylists are amazing and I have loved so many of the contestants outfits throughout the competition. they easily end the Idol stylists imo.
  19. does anybody have a picture/video/link of KB with her phone case? would love to see it lol
  20. kinda surprised that Bryan is someone well liked. he is a strong vocalist but his song choices and vibes in general make me cringe tbh. not a marketable artist whatsoever.
  21. being openly homophobic is just as disgusting as associating with a child molestor. can't say I'm surprised since Triston still has that Trump "best president ever" post on his page it's just annoying to find out more stuff like this especially when i've been warming up to him
  22. tbh im trying to make a prediction of what the rest of the season could look like and i'm very much struggling. as seen by the facebook stats tonight vs. last night so far, i feel like there is a lot of fluidity between the contestants (except Triston). could be a season that comes down to performance more than usual.
