I dont see there being a finale with more than 3 people this year. There was only a 5 person finale last year because of the Covid Format and they didnt really have a choice.

Interesting. What Im wondering is if the Top 12 is going to have cuts the night of the Returnee performances, or if the Top 12 results will be held off until Sunday, May 2nd as well?

Im going to check out Joss' music tonight because she really does have such a soulful and rich voice. Overall, I thought this episode was pretty good. No showstoppers, but also no trainwrecks besides Cecil really. My favorites were Grace and Anilee. See you all tomorrow!

Graces solo song choice was random, but vocals were great obviously. Duet was incredible too!

Willie sounded great on both songs obviously but Im definitely tired of the power ballads now. We need an uptempo.

Andrea really surprised me tonight! I liked both performances and she has totally improved.

Definitely not a fan of Ryan Tedder at all and would hate having him as a duet partner. Nonetheless, I think Deshawn is good but cant picture him getting the votes.

LOVED Anilee's tone on "my future", but some oversinging occured with all the riffs. Her and Joss sounded so soulful on the duet too, but there was oversinging from Anilee on there too. Might have to stan if she makes it through here

Neither of Alana's songs did her justice, but her Dua Lipa song was more memorable and quirky.

Wyatt sounded okay on the solo but I really enjoyed his duet performance. I feel like he will make it through tonight but will struggle with being memorable and standing out later on.

Alyssa's solo was great vocally but it felt a little try-hard ish for me so I kinda missed out on the emotion. On the other hand, I loved her duet and felt it matched her personality and vocals perfectly!

Alanis has an amazing voice but I found the two song choices a bit generic. Cassandra sounded beautiful and her stage presence improved on the first song for sure, but her performances are starting to sound similar and blend together for me. I preferred the duet for both of them.

Alanis' performance felt so rushed for me...

Exactly. I think Maddie was a great Idol contestant because she had the perfect ballance of vocals and artistry and never had to rely on one specifically more than the other throughout the competition. Alejandro was 90% artistry, 10% vocals.

Well she sang some pretty belt-y songs last year like "The Prayer", "And I am Telling You", and "Cuz I Love You" so I dont see why she cant be called a belter lol.

IDF has lots of different opinions than the general public though and thats not something new at all. The GP loves acts like Alejandro, Arthur, Murphy, etc. IDF likes belters like Jeremiah, Makayla, etc.

Alyssa and Arthur are both VERY different types of contestants. Alyssa is a vocalist and Arthur is rather an artist who experiments with his tone and instrumentals. There isn't a right or wrong answer for who is "better" since music taste is subjective. However, Alyssa is going to have more pitch accuracy and vocal range since she is a vocalist. At the end of the day though, Arthur is probably going to catch more people's eye because what he does with his artistry and his voice is "unique". This season is certainly not the first or last time we are seeing someone who sings exactly Alyssa, but anybody who appreciates vocals and soul will probably support her.

I feel like they are going to record both Sunday and Monday performances on Sunday for all contestants and discard/not televise the performances of whatever contestants get voted off.
